Tutorial - Box Cards W/O Dies

Image
Hello again!  I'm back with 2 more box cards using some brand new stamps and dies from the upcoming SU! Holiday mini catalog & SAB and a tutorial on how you can make these without using special dies! First I'll show you a card that uses special dies that make it super quick & easy to create the basic box base to showcase all your fun images, and then I will show you how you can make a very similar card without using the dies.  This is a fun new stamp set featured in the upcoming SU! Holiday Mini Catalog called "Penguin Place" - I bought the bundle, so it has a punch that goes with it to punch out the sitting/standing penguin outline, the white inner piece, and the feet.  I had to fussy cut the trees, gifts, hats & scarves and the sliding penguin.  This is one set I wish they had made a die set to match for all those smaller pieces.   The Box base is created with dies by  My Favorite Things  called " Outside the Box Level Up Die-namics ".  My

Merry Moose Spinner Card

Image
Hello my crafty peeps!  Today I have another challenge throwdown from my sister... this time she challenged me to use SU! Merry Moose and make a spinner card.  She never said it had to be Christmas, so I changed it up to make a Fall Birthday-themed card.  There are many different styles of 'spinner' cards out there.  She was thinking of a penny spinner, and I did too at first, but then I thought why would a moose spin?  Leaves would spin around like they toss and turn in the wind, so I got my leaf and tree stamps out from  SU!   Cuckoo for You  set.  And then the thought came to me of this other style of  card I tried before , and honestly, this style of 'spinner' I would say is more of a turn-table card as it doesn't automatically spin with just a movement of the card, you have to manually turn the wheel with by pushing the images around.  But, I suppose it prolly falls into the spinner category.   I followed  Ilda's video tutorial , although it was challeng

A Cup of Christmas Cheer

So I was talking with my sister today and she reminded me that it was 'Christmas in July' and she gave me a challenge to make a Christmas card using the colors Red , Pink , Grey and White... she even chose the stamp set for me to use - a Stampin' Up! retired set, Cup of Christmas.  ( @Aimslee, I finally have a card to share featuring something other than MFT! lol )   Although I have used the Outside the Box Level Up dies and the Wallpaper Patterns paper pad , both from My Favorite Things.  Everything else is from the SU!  Woo, it's hot outside, so I had some crafty time this Sunday afternoon creating 2 cards using the Paper Players sketch .   For this 1st card,, I combined SU !s  Sweet Strawberry bundle with the cute li'l pup & kitty from Birdie Brown' s Up in the Air stamp & die set. For my 2nd card, I used my SU! MFT July Slimline Challenge

Image
Welcome friends!  I'm really late to the Slimline bandwagon, but here is my first attempt!  I am playing in the July Slimline Challenge at MFT and the theme is FEELING BEACHY, and the Color Throwdown #652  which has a very beachy feeling combo! This is my 2nd attempt -- you don't even want to see my first one, LOL!!  I massacred it!  It was a one-layer full-panel scene with sun rays and water and I tried that thing where the sun rays come through the water.... ya, I definitely need some practice!  That one ended up in the circular bin 😂💦 I created the sand and sea with just Copic markers and blender pen.  Then added grains of sand with a bit darker marker and white gel pen.  I don't have any fancy slimline dies (yet) so I just searched for the size to cut my cardstock and layered some stitched rectangle squares on top.   The cute beach sloths are my own drawings and can be purchased at Imagine That Digistamp   HERE .  The large palm tree diecut is from LaLa Land Crafts -

MFT Sketch 551 - Scrap Bits

A fun new sketch challenge is up today at the MFT blog and it's a great one for using up those li'l bits & pieces of scraps!   I used  MFT Housecats stamp set for this one, as well as the "BIRTHDAY" sentiment from the Birdie Brown set, Up in the Air , and "It's Pawty Time" is from the Stacey Yacula set, Pawty Time .   ♥ ♥ ♥ Stamps:  (MFT) - Housecats ;  BB Up in the Air ; SY Pawty Time Dies & Punches : (MFT) -  Housecats Die-namics ; Pawty Time Die-namics ; (SU!) -  Banners Pick-a-Punch ; Oval punch ; (Altenew) - Mega Happy die Paper & Ink:  (Curious Metallics) -  Cryogen White cardstock ;  Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad ; (Doodlebug Design Inc) - Spring Garden double-sided cardstock  Extras:  (SU!) -  Tombow Multi liquid glue ; (Copic & Artist's Loft) -   alcohol markers ; (?) - white gel pen  ~ Happy Inking :)

Outside the Box - Birthday #3

Image
Hello crafty peeps!  I'm back with yet another   Outside the Box Challenge  entry.... Happy Purrthday !   This month MFT is celebrating it's 15th year in business so their OTB challenge theme is  BIRTHDAY BONANZA --- and I've got lots of birthdays to make cards for so this is a great month to create and be ready when those days come! For this one, I used MFT's   Housecats stamps & dies , and of course  MFT's Outside the Box Level Up dies (which are required for this challenge).  My supply list with links are at the end of this post 😺  They fold pretty flat inside an A2 envelope.  I did add a piece of dry embossed card front in the front of my card in the envelope just for more protection and sturdiness during mailing. My youngest daughter in college has a roommate that has a live-in cat (emotional support animal) and my daughter has lot of plants!  They each try to keep their respective live creatures in their own rooms but occasionally the cat gets into a plan

Outside the Box - Birthday #2

Image
Happy Sunday everyone!  I have a sister-in-law's birthday coming up and this month's   Outside the Box Challenge  is BIRTHDAY BONANZA , so I'm back with my 2nd entry for this challenge.   For this one, I used my digi stamp, " Leesa's Tulip " from Imagine That Digistamp , along with a mish-mash of SU! stamps and dies , and of course MFT's Outside the Box Level Up dies to create a floral birthday box.  You'll find my supply list with links at the end of this post 🌷 ♥ ♥ ♥ Stamps:  (ITD) -  Leesa's Tulip ; (MFT) - Up in the Air ; (SU!)  Welcoming Window ; Pretty Perennials & Springtime Joy (retired) Dies & Punches : (MFT) -   Outside the Box Level Up dies ; Slimline Grassy Hills Die-namics ;  (SU!) - Pretty Perennials dies (retired); (LaLa Land Crafts) - Heart Fence die Paper & Ink:  (SU!) -  Basic White, Granny Apple Green, Pink Passion, Pixy Pink, Daffodil Delight  cardstock ; Brights DSP;  Calypso Coral, Highland Heather, Daffodil De

Outside the Box - Birthday Bonanza

Image
Hi everyone - it's MFT's 15th Birthday!  So their Outside the Box Challenge this month is  BIRTHDAY BONANZA ( their OTB dies are required for this challenge ).   I'm excited to play this month because I just got my dies for these cute li'l boxes this week. ( If you missed my post yesterday , I posted my first card using my dies in an Ocean Adventure theme. )   For my card I used my new " Up in the Air " stamps & dies by Birdie Brown, and joined in the Color Throwdown Challenge #651 ! It's hard to see, but I sponged clouds and blue sky on the layer behind the big hot air balloon ;) I used the Snow Drift dies for the middle layer, and I used a picket fence die for the 1st inside layer to prop the cute animals on like their peeking over the fence. The 3rd layer is sky blue and I glued the green/pink balloon to the front of it and for the blue balloon, I stacked 2 dimensionals on top of each other and placed it behind the blue layer for added dimensio

Fintastic Day Box Card

Image
Hi friends, I'm back with a fun box card with lotsa dimension!  I used the stamp and dies called Best Catch Ever  from My Favorite Things along with the Outside the Box Level Up dies and the Ocean Motion Die-namics .  I have a couple more fishy sets on my wish list that has some bigger, cuter fish and would have paired really well with this set, but my budget didn't allow for them quite yet.   I recently discovered that MFT has a monthly challenge that uses their Outside the Box dies and seeing as how I love shaped cards, I thought I'd go ahead and invest in my favorite of the 2 OTBD sets.  I'm too late to enter this month, but it was an Underwater Adventure theme.   For the waves, I sponged distress oxide inks onto light blue cardstock, then spritzed with water for the water droplets effect.  (they faded quite a bit by the time I took the picture)  Then I brushed white craft ink over the tips of each wave to help them stand out from the next level behind it.  I co
