Inky Challenge Wednesday

Image
Embrace Life! Happy Wednesday!! We have a new challenge for this week over at Inky Impressions Challenges  -  NO Designer Paper... and ADD Stitching! =) I have to admit, it's a nice change to put the dp away and use my cuttlebug again! And since it's breast cancer awareness month, I used this LiLi's Awareness Ribbon , which by the way, A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation & also The American Diabetes Association.  I made this card for a special friend who is like a second mom to my girls. She is a breast cancer survivor of 9+ years. I found a poem by Suzy Toronto called, "It's Me Again... Only Better" that is about her battle with cancer and what it taught her. It's really good in case you want to Google it! =) I printed it for the inside of my card.   I also added crystal effects to the ribbon in the image to give it some 3D and make it stand out.  Hope you'll join us in this challenge!  Time to go

Mardi Gras Card & Ornament

Image
Good Monday morning stampers!! As you can see I've been a busy bee... crafting this card, and this lovely Mardi Gras beaded ornament. It's actually been a few weeks since I made this and the recipient has already received it!  I've been making these beaded ornaments for the past several years for my mom and MIL for Christmases and birthdays, and this year I ordered a few extra kits to make and send to a few friends. This one was well received by my friend (& boss) Nicole. She had commented to me once about how gorgeous my ornaments were, and when I saw this new ornament kit it made me think of her--it's called "Mardi Gras" and has some of her favorite colors in it and I just thought she would love this. She IMed me that day and told me she was in tears earlier that day because "someone" had done something so special for her. Awwww, that made my day. I'm so glad you like it Nicole. OK, on to the card:   The name for this one inspired me to mak

Pastor Appreciation Month

Image
Good Morning!!  I made a couple of cards this week for Pastor Appreciation month. Isn't this image of Jesus amazing?! I love the soft expression in his face and the slight tilt of his head... and then to stamp it up and see all the detail, LOVE IT! This set, " Jesus " is made by Our Daily Bread Designs. To make the frame, I used Label 2 Nestabilities to cut out this real Maple Wood paper from McMahon Five Designs (another one of our lovely sponsors!). I am loving this wood and it's so reasonable priced. I also bought these beautiful coffee pearls there too! Here's what I did with the inside of card. CARD RECIPE: Stamps: " Jesus" - Our Daily Bread Designs ; sentiment I printed onto DP with computer Paper: K & Company, "ancestry.com"; watercolor paper - ProArt, 140 lb.; Walnut wood paper , - McMahon Five Designs Embellishments: Coffee Pearls - McMahon Five Designs ; Nestabilities, Labels 2; Moroccan border punch - EK Success

It's a Slumber Party!

Image
Hi y'all! My oldest daughter is turning 11 next weekend and asked to have a slumber party, so I thought this little Inky Impressions girl would be perfect for the invites! Although my hubby told me he thought maybe they'd be too young for a 5th grader... ya know what?    Her face LIT UP when I showed her the stamp that came in the mail!  She was sooo excited about this that she asked to stamp them up right away and she and her younger sister got right to work coloring 5 of these yesterday! LOL - I honestly wish I could have video taped her excitement. For those of you who know Carly, when she gets excited, she does this thing where she presses her hands to her face (usually her mouth) and shakes while making a humming noise! Well she kept stopping like every 20 seconds to do this little habit of hers. It was hilarious! Then she was humming a Christmas song the rest of the night! LOL! Nicole, if you're reading this, I'm sure you'll feel so proud that a l

Simon Says... Christmas Tilda!

Image
...well okay, Simon didn't really say make a Christmas Tilda, heehee... but he DID say follow this sketch ! And I'm pretty sure Simon's telling me to retake this photo in daylight, cause it's hard to see that the red layer is embossed with the Swiss Dots folder and the snow and snowflakes are covered in Dazzling Diamonds! Very sparkly and pretty IRL. Don't worry Simon... I'll upload a better one soon! LOL For this card I used my favorite Magnolia stamp,  Tilda with Lamb . She was from the Easter Magnolia collection , but she's so versatile, like this baptism card I made for Kelly! But I have to say, I'm really loving her in these Christmas colors.  Happy Crafting!

A {Scooter} Picture Card

So, have any of you gotten your hands on these cute Inky Impressions stamps yet? If so, come play along in our challenge this week!! :) And if not, you can still hop on over to the challenge blog and see all the inspiration by some of our Design Members this week! Our challenge was a "recipe" challenge, which means we had to follow this recipe: 1 stamped image 1 sentiment 2 ribbons 3 embellies 3 layers I've been wanting to make a scrapbook page with this Spunky Scooter LiLi ever since I got her in the mail. My daughter got a skateboard for her birthday and we spent numerous days this summer at the school and park with it and her bike and skates too. However, the recipe challenge was throwing me off a little bit and I just couldn't make it work for a big 12x12 page that would fit our albums, so I made this picture card instead. M is sooo not the typical "girly-girl", more of a tom-boy, and has always liked primary colors as opposed to pinks and purples, so

Celebrating with You in Your Baptism

Image
Happy Tuesday!! I have a very special card to share today. It's one that I made for a friend of mine who was baptized a couple weeks ago. This is a 6" square card... larger than I normally make, but I had the idea for this in my head for a couple days and had to make it larger to get everything on it the way I imagined. :) The sentiment I just printed on my computer. This is my all-time favorite Magnolia... " Tilda with Lamb " that I got from KL Stampin' N Scrappin' store months ago ( from the Easter collection ) but it's so versatile for various ocassions like baptism or even Christmas!! Stay tuned for some Christmasy ones! :) For the black frame, I used my plain oval Nestie, taped it onto black c.s. and then layed a larger scallop Nestie outside that and taped it down and then ran it through the cuttlebug to give me that frame, and then I used pop dots to attach it so it gives dimension. Tilda is also pop dotted to the front. The paper is a soft aqua

Let the Earth REJOICE!

Image
Happy Sunday!!  I used a digi image from McMahon Five Designs for today's card.  I tried the technique of printing various sizes of flowers and layering them! LOVE how it turned out. My photos make the flowers look like all the same shade of dark pink, but there really is some lighter and darker shades on it. I printed on watercolor paper, heat set it with a heat gun and used my SU! markers to color. I used Pixie Pink, Pink Passion, and a little bit of Rose red near the centers. Then I pushed the ink around w/ a waterpen! My dark pink and red markers were almost completely run out so I really had to press it to the paper in blobs (rather than coloring with them) but the water pen helped spread it around.  I also added some dazzling diamonds on the edge. I also used my sewing machine--just loving the elegance that gives a card! :) I hope this inspires you to 'Ink Something'!  :)  Have a great day!

Birthdays are the BERRY Best!

Image
Okay, these greens actually match perfect IRL... there's just something about the camera or the photo editing that makes her shirt look yellowy. Hmmm, LOL. I thought this sentiment would be so perfect with this Tilda with Strawberries stamp from the Lazy Days of Summer collection .  Thanks for looking!  Hope you are inspired to go 'Ink Something'!
