Another Accordion Window Card

Image
It's my sister's 50th birthday next week, and she's also a card maker, so I wanted to create something special (and impressive) for her milestone birthday.  I used a couple of my Sloth digi stamps along with Stampin' Up!'s Pretty Perennials stamps and dies (full list of supplies at the end). This style of card does take TIME... but I made this just after I had figured out the measurements for my first accordion window card here , so it was fresh in my mind.   Here's a couple more photos closer up of each panel... I had to make my own envelope as the size of this card when folded up is about 4 1/2 x 6 1/2.   So I gusseted the edges (is that the right word?) and added magnets for closure. and since I didn't fit "50th" on the card itself, I put it on the front of the envelope, since the magnets hold it close, she doesn't have to destroy the envelope.    ♥ ♥ ♥ Stamps used:  (Imagine That Digistamp) -  Lazy Sloth , Hanging Sloth ;  (Stampin' U

Apartment Sweet Apartment

Image
Hello! Today's card is one I made for my daughter who just graduated college and has moved into her first "real" apartment!  I used Stampin' Up!'s " Welcoming Window " stamp and die set.  This is also the stamp set my daughter gifted me for Mother's Day! 💖 This card started out like this.... But then I remembered a photo she texted me several days prior of her sitting on her couch in her new apartment and I thought, "Perfect!"  So, using an craft knife, I cut the window down the middle and glued the frame to the yellow cardstock behind it (and removed the dimensionals). I generated the sentiment on my computer... and it just happened that her blouse matched the brick color of her apartment & card! What do ya think?  I like both versions but I always love to see my daughter... who happens to live clear across the country in PA (I'm in Oregon) so I don't get to see her very often.  So I'm a li'l partial to the final card

Jungle Themed Swinging Pop Up Shadowbox Card

Image
Hello again crafty friends!  I made another Pop Up Shadowbox Card today, and this time I added a swinging sloth!  This jungle theme suits my younger daughter more than  yesterday's card  (for my eldest dd).  For this card I used 5 different digi sets from  my shop , along with the cloud dies and swing die from My Favorite Things.  Here's how I did the inside.  I glued a spinner disc to the back tree, then I cut the swinging arm from the interactive swing die-namics set and then glued the circle piece (also in that die set) on top so the arm doesn't come flying off the disc.   Then I added the paper boxes I made to the back layer so I can attach the greenery (upper and lower trees) to them to create a middle layer.  Then I glued the giraffe to the front of the middle tree layer, and I added a couple of pop dots behind the front tree layer to attach the right sloth.  And finally I added the elephant with parrot directly behind the front tree layer.   and again I kept the fron

Pop Up Shadow Box with Interactive Slider

Image
Hi all! Today's card is an interactive pop up shadow box that I made for my daughters as a Thank You for the Mother's Day gifts ♥  # paperpumpkinalternative  I'm having a lot of fun with this month's Paper Pumpkin kit that I just got yesterday, " Batter Up "! I've also incorporated the Rainbow from April 2021's kit " So Cool " and the stamped rainbow is from the May 2020, " A Kit in Color ". The "daughter" stamp is from the April 2020 kit, " My Wonderful Family" and the "love you lots" is from the Dec. 2019 kit, " Something for Everything. " The "The Baseball girl is one I drew and is in my digi shop HERE .      The Moving Part: To make the ball FLY, I added a small piece of thick white cardstock behind middle layer of clouds that I cut the small "Leaping Slider" die out of (from Mft) and then I attached a slider disc between 2 pieces of heavy acetate strips and attached on

Batter Up - A Paper Pumpkin Alternative

Image
I got my Paper Pumpkin kit in the mail today and had a play with it.  Here is my first alternative! The baseball boy is not part of the kit.  He is one that I drew and I have him available in my digital stamp shop HERE .  I also have a baseball Girl there in the shop as well and they both come with many sentiments but I wanted to stamp the sentiments from the PP kit on this ball for my card today.  I love the punch outs in this kit - so I don't have to cut around the digis!  LOL  I colored the image with Copics and Artist's Loft alcohol markers then for the grass, base and sky, I went over it with a blender Copic marker which gave it a more subtle and textured look.  The darker blue and white striped vertical strip was the inside of one of the envelopes.  The red enamel dots came in the kit and I stuck one on top of his cap as it already had one drawn on :)   It's too late to order this kit - but you can sign up to start receiving next month's now thru June 10.  It

4-Panel Accordion Card for Mom

Image
Hello, thanks for stopping by my blog today!  My mom is a crafter too, so I wanted to create something extra special for her for Mother's Day this weekend.  I saw this card and was so impressed that I gave it a go.  Mom's favorite color is blue, and this was what I had in designer papers in blues, so I went with it.☺ here's a view from the top... and here are some closer-up pics of the panels... I will say that this style can be made with so many different dies, and so the measurements are going to vary depending on which dies you use!  SO... this one was a doozy for me to figure out measurements for the frames as I did not used dies to cut out my rectangle frames (only the inside accordion pieces).   I did take some pictures along the way to do a tutorial with the measurements I used. Oh Boy!!  This took me over 6 hours to make.  Below are the measurements I used in case you want to use these same " Ornate Layers " dies. • I created (4) regular frames (see pic
