Tutorial - Ladybug Interactive Wheel

Image
More fun with Layering Circle Dies!    Today's fun card is called a "Spinner Wheel Card."  And actually, I would say this is more of a "turning wheel" card because unlike those spinner cards where it rolls and "spins" as you tilt the card, this one you have to manually turn the wheel by using the scallops with the arrows on them (right side in the cut-out section) or by moving the ladybugs clockwise around in a circle, but nonetheless, it is interactive and adds a really fun element especially for kids (see it in action following the pics). My card was inspired by Jennifer McGuire's video tutorial here .  Although I'm providing a step-by-step picture tutorial below, it may also be helpful to go watch her video! Card Measurements: Base is cut at 9 1/2" x 4 3/4", and scored at 4 3/4" Front layer of DSP (or stamp a pc of cardstock) is cut at 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" Inside white piece is cut at 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" White Scall

Colorful 5.25-inch Shutter Card

Image
My great-nephew is turning 3, so I wanted to make him a bright and colorful card.  I also wanted to make it fun and interactive, so I decided to make a Shutter card again, but enlarge it to 5 1/4" square when closed .... you'll see why when you open the card! 😄 It had to be large enough to fit a RAINBOW!  If you missed my last post, I created a short video on how I made this rainbow - if you make just one, you can get 2 cards out of it!  Perfect for this colorful card. I also decided to use different colors for each shutter piece to add to the colorful-ness 😍 Cutting Measurements for a 5 1/4" square card: fits in a 5 1/2" square envelope Cut a piece of Mango Melody (base color) to  10 1/2" x 5 1/4" and score at 2 5/8" and 7 7/8" Cut a piece of Caribbean blue cardstock (inside color) at 5 1/4" x 4" Cut (2) pieces of cardstock (same or different colors) for shutters at 3 1/2" x 4" and score along the shortest side at 1/2"

Today's card features my brand new digi set, " Rainy Day Friends " which you can now find in my digi shop here . I was asked where I got the rainbow, to which I replied "I made it with my circle layering dies!" and so I thought I'd share a quick video tutorial showing how I made this adorable card. Card measures 5 1/4" square, blue layer measures 5" square. Here's what comes in this set.... Thanks for popping by!   ~  Happy Crafting ~

Double Slider Valentine Card with SU! Darling Donkeys

Image
When I saw this style of interactive card, I wanted to recreate it immediately!  So I actually made this for my hubby today while he was doing the grocery shopping!  HA!  (He does take a while.)  Anywho... I will say that it did take me 3 tries to get the mechanism just right, so I wouldn't call this a beginner's card, maybe intermediate.  I'll explain a li'l bit later on.   Here is the card closed.  I didn't realize until I took pictures of the card that I kinda got the window and shutters a bit crooked 🙅  But... gives it character right?! (it's actually driving me a bit crazy!  But dimensionals are hard to get back off, ever notice that?!!)   My hubby played with this card for a good several minutes, so, I think he really did like it, which made it all worth it. ♥ I followed instructions by Nadja Hoffmann here . She translated the instructions for us in a FB group, and I adjusted some of the measurements, so I will take you through what I did to recreate th

Hello Beautiful - Gate Fold Shutter Card

Image
Hello!  Today I'm sharing a FUN and fairly simple to make fancy fold card called the Gate Fold Shutter Card .  I love how this looks when you open and close it... that middle circle closes like a camera shutter!   This gate fold card has a belly band that slides off.  Fun to decorate those.  All supplies used for this card came from Stampin' Up! I punched out some daisies using the large and medium daisy punches, then sponged them with Petal Pink, Flirty Flamingo, Pool Party and Just Jade ink. I added a glue dot between the layers of same size petals, then a dimensional between the pink and the blue layers. The leafy dies on the belly band come from the Pretty Perennials bundle in the new Jan-June 2021 mini catalog, and the dsp is from the SALEabration catty Jan-Feb 2021 edition. I got this pack of dsp FREE with a $50 order. Here is the inside of card. I followed a tutorial for this design here . ♥ ♥ ♥ Stamps used:  SU! "Butterfly Gala" Dies & Punches:  SU! Stit

Pretty Perennials - Happy Crafters Demo Swap #2

Image
Today I'm sharing my swap cards from the Jan-June 2021 mini catalog demo swap.    All of Joanne Maddi's downline are in a private FB group and get the chance to join in these new catalog swaps!  This time we were asked to CASE one project from either the mini or Sale-abration catalogs.  I chose to use " Pretty Perennials " from page 31 of the Jan-June 2021 catty.   (keep scrolling to see ALL of the girls' beautiful cards!) I ended up with 2 versions of the same card.  The card above is not my first try, but it's the one I like the best, so I'm showing it first 😋 When I started CASEing the card from the catty, I was feeling pretty confident about the colors and then I figured, I'll just use the OSW (one sheet wonder) technique and then cut my sheet in quarters and wha-la!   I did end up with more white space than I liked, so I added in a smaller flowers in Highland Heather to fill gaps.  Half way through making 11 cards, I decided to look up the recipe
