Exciting News to Share With You!

My Guest Designer position at La-La Land Crafts has turned into a full DT position starting NOW!! I'm so excited!! (For this week's "CHARMing" La-La Land challenge, please see my post below.)

I'm Designing in La-La Land!

These last 2 months have literally just flown right by! I can't hardly believe how fast it went and what a FUN time I had there. I realized with my first stamp (that I won from Lisa's blog hop) how much fun they are to color and I truly LOVE these stamps. Irina and all the girls over there are super fun and friendly too and we've had such a great time together. Looking forward to this new year! OH!... before I forget, we're having a NEW RELEASE Blog Hop next Wednesday with 9 new stamps and the Design Team and Guest Designers will be sharing all 9 with you!

I'm also a new Stamp Design Team member for Sweet n' Sassy Stamps!!

Thanks so much to Korin for asking me on! I love her stamps and I love what she stands for... to share the love of Christ through paper crafting!

There's a new release on the 7th of each month and I'm excited to start showing some of the new stamps starting this coming Monday!

La La Weekly Wednesday Challenge

Good morning! We have a new challenge going on in LaLa Land and we'd LOVE for you to come join us! The wonderfully talented Kathy is our hostess today and her challenge for us is to use CHARMS! Just have to share that some of us on the design team weren't sure we even had any charms so they came up with lots of fun ideas that you can use for charms, like...
  • make some out of shrink-a-dink!
  • use jewelry beads to create a dangly charm!
  • how about cheapy earrings from the dollar store?
  • wine charms?
  • or... Buttons! Especially those with large openings in fun shapes like hearts! you could make those dangle!

Well, those are all really great ideas girls! I dug around and found this butterfly charm, a bead really as it has a hole down the center of it and I played with embroidery floss but wasn't liking my tie job on the ribbon so I gave up and stuck a glue dot to the back of it, LOL. So it doesn't "dangle" but it's still a charm. And a lucky one at that, (cause don'tcha know all things made in LaLa Land is magical!)

And so I just HAD to make LaLa into a Butterfly too! Or is she a fairy? *Ü* Okay, well whatever you want to dream up or imagine... it's ALL GOOD in the land of LaLa! Come play along... you can use ANY stamps you want and one lucky player will WIN a free stamp from LaLa Land Crafts!!

Red/Gold Beaded Collector Ornament

I did get a card made today, but will have to wait a couple more days to show it... so I thought I'd show another beaded ornament that I made for a Christmas/birthday present for someone. I didn't get all the ones made that I wanted to for Christmas, so I'd better start earlier next year! Which reminds me... I still need to find my address book!

KLSNS is making some changes! We'll be having challenges on the KLSNS blog every Saturday with the new Design Team starting Jan. 2nd with a big blog candy, so I hope you'll join us for that! Also, I have a couple other exciting tidbits about Design Teams that I'll get to share in just a few days *Ü* I had a wonderful 2009 and looking forward to another wonderful year!

Happy New Year... Almost!

Another blessed Sunday everyone!! Did you all have a great Christmas? I sure did! Got to see everyone on my side of the family and most everyone on my hubby's side for 2 days. And I just can't believe it's almost 2010 already! Where did this year go? With a new year coming this week, our challenge over at Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenges is to create a New Year's card or project.

Our hostess this week is one of my dearest friends, Lisa Hjulberg (also co-founder of our challenge blog). The scripture she was inspired by is

Psalm 25:4-5 "Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior and my hope is in you all day long."

Great passage Lisa. I have to admit that this week I was very rushed to create a card in about 1 hour before we had to get on the road again so I don't feel like I did a very good job on it, and I know that I didn't meditate on the scripture this week. But as I think on it now... as I'm typing, I realize what a great verse it is that I plan on printing it out and creating a card or wall-hanging with this on it, to remind me to ask for wisdom and to always put my trust and hope in Him. I know that God's ways are far above our understanding and we just need to trust that He will not lead us astray. What better way to learn God's truth and understand His teaching than to read His Word... meditate on His Word... and apply His Word to our lives. What a great New Year's Resolution this is.

Here is what I created for today. Doesn't that curly ribbon scream P-A-R-T-Y?!! I thought so, LOL. The cute digis are from our wonderful sponsor this week, The Cutting Cafe! Regina, owner of TCC very graciously emailed our Design Team many digis to choose from for our New Year's projects this week, so I hope you'll head on over to our Challenge Blog to see what they created, and then enter your own New Year's project! If you upload to online galleries, please use Keyword SSCC19. Also, Regina is going to be our wonderful Guest Designer and she has a CaUTE project to share with us, so make sure to check the challenge blog again on Thursday! *Ü*

LaLa Weekly Wednesday Challenge

Hello from La-La Land!! Did you all have FUN on the Fairy Tale Blog Hop?? I sure did--lots of cute cute cards and loads of inspiration! Thanks Irina for a wonderful new release of Princess Rosie!

Are you ready for another fun challenge this week? We're on Challenge #18 this week and our hostess is the lovely and talented Kim Yu whose challenging us to make Anything But A Card! I have to admit that although I've done lots of non-card items in the past, I was just feeling a tad stressed about this one, LOL. Prolly with the busy-ness of the holidays. So I decided to go simple and make another Candy Bag Topper with my Top Note die and my favorite Santa LaLa!

There actually IS blue in my designer paper, although that's hard to see here, so I decided instead of liquid appliqueing her trim, I would use my turquoise stardust gellyroll pens. And the layer behind the sentiment is actually burgundy, not black as it may look here. Isn't she cute?

Now hop on over to the challenge blog to see the rest of the DTs FABULOUS creations this week and enter your own non-card item! One lucky player will get a FREE stamp and 2 others will receive a TOP 3 Award Badge!! If you upload your projects to online galleries, please use the keyword LLWWC18. Thank you!!

As I will likely be away from the computer until Saturday, I want to wish you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!! ♥

More R.A.K.s and Awards/Tags

Hello! I've recieved more Christmas cards from some wonderful blogging friends this week that blessed me so much, so as my way of saying THANK YOU to them, I wanted to share them here for the rest of you to enjoy and be able to click through and see their blogs... so, here we go!

Debbie Pamment
Diane LaPointe
My Mom - who has no internet :(
(OOOPS! Lost a bow on the left side somewhere between taking it out of the envelope and taking a picture of this! That's why there's an "empty spot" there.

Thank you to all my blogger friends who've sent cards... and to those who have sent email wishes!! I know that many of you have said you're falling behind this year and I am in the same boat. I am really wishing I had joined Sparkle's Christmas card-a-week this year and would've gotten cards out much sooner. I will keep that in mind and put that on my TO DO list this coming year for sure! But please know that I do appreciate you all and am wishing you JOY, LOVE, and HAPPINESS this Christmas season!!
And now, I have a couple of awards and a tag to share. I've learned to post them as I get them or else I forget... and it prolly IS the polite thing to do, ;)

All of these came from my dear friend Lisa Hjulberg, and I will start with the survey since she's dying to hear my answers, LOL! Just kidding.

1. My childhood ambition: to be a teacher - I used to play school with my sister and friends after school and all through the summer, bringing home "extra" books and workbooks from school.

2. My retreat: being home alone without the hubby and kids and getting to do whatever I want, which is not to have to cook or clean for anyone!

3. The perfect day: walking on a non-crowded beach on a sunny day, but not too hot, with my hubby and girls and collecting sea shells and enjoying ice cream!

4. My first job was: besides babysitting, it was working at the Dairy Queen (worked 2 weeks and then quit)
5. My wildest dream: to move to Ireland after inheriting a somewhat old homestead/farm with lots of lush green hills to play with the kids in and we'd live close enough to walk into a little town where everyone was warm and friendly and treated each other like family. And I would own a cake shop, where I baked and decorated gorgeous cakes for people's weddings or other parties, etc. and I'd always have spectacular cakes to show in the window.

6. If my life was a movie it would be called: Anne of Green Gables. I've always wanted to change my name... I always got teased as a kid for my red hair and freckles... at times I can have a temper... I love the ocean...and although not extraordinarily untraditional in speaking or writing, I am a bit of a dreamer . (ok, so the question actually said "musical" but I really don't know enough musicals to compare my life to!)

7. My proudest moment: Besides the obvious... giving birth to my 2 beautiful daughters... it would have to be when I got a 4.0 in college after a really tough semester of being sick for a month and then working really hard to catch up and do well on my tests.
8. My favorite item of clothing: my cozy black/white sweater
9. I feel ready for the day when I: have showered, dressed and fixed up and have had my devotions for the day.
10. I COULD live without: hmmm, does this have to be something we use every day? If so, then I'd say... the phone --- easily the phone! As long as I had my computer but I'd definately have to have one of them to talk with my sister regularly. *Ü*

Here is a blogging award that Lisa passed onto all her Design Team sisters at Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenges... THANK YOU Lisa!!

and we are to name 7 things that others might find interesting about us...

1. Love to decorate cakes and use to have an in-home business called Kris Marie's Party Cakes for several years.

2. Love to crochet and have made lots of afghans, several of which I got first place in the county fair. I've also crocheted stuffed animals for children.

3. I love to sing and have background as music worship leader at church.

4. I was a tour guide at a museum at Mt. Rushmore for 2 years while going to college.

5. I've lived in 11 (eleven) houses/apartments (not counting college dorms) in my lifetime.

6. I was a picky eater growing up and to this day I don't like my foods touching each other. It might end up all jumbled up in my tummy, but it doesn't have to be a jumbled mess in my mouth. I like to savor each individual flavor.

7. I had braces for 3 years as an adult and through both my pregnancies. Let me tell you... having them tilt you back when you're 8 mo.s preggo and walk off and leave you there is NOT a pleasant experience! Ugh!

Okay, and this last one also came from Lisa, whose blog I find FABULOUS as well...
Alrighty then! I'm about bloggered out for this post, LOL! I pass these all onto Kathy, Kelly, Chris O, Chris S, Nikki, Cheryl, Jessica, Sparkle, Heidi, Deb, Debbie, Diane, Melanie, Helen, Jane, Irina, Kim, Christi, Charmaine, Mindy, Jodi, Joanna, Jacilynn, Risa, Sue from Oregon, Shanna Banana, Crystal, Lisa F, Danni, and Dani.

Honestly, I'm a tad exhausted right now to add links, so if you see your name up there and you frequent my blog, then it's YOU! LOL! I'll try to go back later to add those. Thanks so much for spreading the love girls!!

SSCC #18 - Gettin' Sketchy

Merry Christmas Sunday everyone! We have a sketch for you to try this week at Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenges, drawn up by our talented hostess Kathy! My first card didn't turn out the the way I hoped with a stamped image and so I slept on it and the next morning I thought to make a picture greeting card. This is my favorite picture of my girls from a past Christmas. I almost made the ornament part detachable so she can hang it but then I thought that would be a waste of my pretty black pearls (McMahon Five Designs) and the rest of the card would be so blank, so I taped it on and she can display it as a whole. I'm going to give this one to grandma.

The scripture this week is about the Christmas story, so I encourage you all to hop over to the challenge blog to read the scripture Kathy chose and her thoughts about it. OH, and I can't forget to tell you about our sponsor for this week! It's the lovely Anne House of A Faith Prospective on SNR!! She's offering one player in our challenge a 3-month subscription to Scrapbook News & Review Magazine! Thank you Anne!!

Now I'm off to get ready for church as my girls are in a children's play/musical this morning (they each have solos☺). Wishing you JOY this Christmas Sunday! *Ü*

Sweet Treat Bag Topper and Yummy Recipe

Happy Saturday!! Today's my day to share at the KLSNS Blog and we sure have a recipe theme going on over there this week! No wonder with Christmas so close *Ü* My sister Kathy gave me this recipe recently for Almond Roca, so I made up a batch yesterday and trust me, if you do it right it tastes exactly like the expensive stuff in the store!! The trick is to make sure you use a candy thermometer and bring it to the right temperature or else it could be a big flop! I almost had to learn the hard way, but decided once I melted my butter that I needed to run to the store and buy myself a candy thermometer! ;)

Anyway, so I made a cute little bag topper using this 60's Tilda (from the Little Yummy for Your Tummy collection) and this Christmas Eskimo Kisses paper by Basic Grey. I cut it out with the Top Note die. This will make a nice gift to have on hand for those unplanned people I forgot to get a gift for (don't we all have those every year?) *Ü* Would you all like the recipe for this tasty treat?? Here ya go!

Almond Roca
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
3 Tbsp. water
1 Tbsp. light corn syrup
1/2 cup almonds, coarsely chopped
3/4 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup almonds, finely chopped (I didn't use all of 1/2 cup)

Melt butter. Add sugar, water, and syrup. Cook over med. heat to 290 degrees on candy thermometer, stirring frequently. (Very important to have a candy thermometer) Remove from heat and add coarse almonds. Pour into a buttered 13x9" pan. Let sit 2-3 minutes. Sprinkle choc. chips over top and let stand 1-2 min. more. When chocolate chips are soft, use a spatula and spread the choc. over the toffee mixture and sprinkle wiht finely chopped almonds. When chocolate is firm, break into pieces. Enjoy!!

I hope you are enjoying the holidays! KLSNS has had a wonderful year with a super Design Team and are sad to see them go. However the new year brings lots of new things... like a brand new Design Team... and new challenges... and lots of prizes, and we HOPE you will continue to visit and play along and have FUN with us!! Remember, there's always a sale at KL Stampin' N' Scrappin' and right now you can get $10 OFF your order of $50 or more with coupon code Dec2009!

Knitted Baby Slippers

Aren't these little checkered slippers CUTE? My girls and I have been learning to knit in 4-H club. My oldest daughter wanted to make a little pair for her 1-year old cousin Isabelle who we'll be seeing at Christmas time so I helped her make these. They went much faster than the adult size we were trying to get done by Christmas... I still don't even have one slipper done! I was trying to do a pair for a friend and Carly got about 1/2 of one done for herself. But that's okay. We'll keep plugging along on them.

I hope you'll check in again tomorrow as I have another fun and cute project to share... and a recipe!! *Ü* Enjoy your evening!

Does THIS Make My Butt Look Big??

... I'm sorry Paulie, but I'm afraid it does; however maybe if you put blinking lights on the wreath that might make your actual bum fade in comparison, LOL! But no worries, I'll still love you no matter how big your bum is! Oh sorry, just having a li'l one-on-one session with Selft-Conscious Paulie for a minute. (I know, I'm so mean enjoying a laugh at Paulie's expense! LOL)

Today is another fun DIGI DAY event at PCP! The challenge this week is to use SNOWFLAKES along with a Sweet n' Sassy Stamp or Digi image!! Everyone who plays in the challenge and upload by Monday, 21st will get a super cute image with cocoa the mouse, AND if you upload by 10 p.m. tonight you will also get another FREE digi that will be released to the public next week ... you will LOVE it! Have you ever heard the Christmas song, "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas?" ... well, that's a big hint! LOL. Come on over to the group to see what you can get for FREE, and also see some samples made with the newly released digis today!

TLC - Beanie Cap Gift Card Holder

This is the TLC challenge on SCS for this week. They are super easy to make! The front rounded part of cap swivels up and out to reveal the hidden gift card inside! (don't let that Sunriver Resort GC fool you! LOL - it's one that was given to us years ago and they let my girls keep the cards after we used them! I haven't boughten my GCs for Christmas...yet!)

One thing to note: if using a pattern such as this lined DP, you might want to pay attention to how the lines are going before cutting your circle in half! I didn't think of that and now they are lopsided. :( Oh well, like I say, "Stamp and learn!"

The snowflake was made with the Nestabilities "Create a Flake One" set. While the c.s. was still in the dies, I sponged them, then took them out and applied 2-way glue to the edges and added Dazzling Diamonds. =) Thanks for droppin' by today! Have a terrific Tuesday!

SSCC #17 - Bing it Up!

Happy Sunday morning stampers! I'm very honored to be this week's hostess at Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenges! I encourage you to jump on over to our challenge blog to read all about my inspiration of the scripture and challenge... and be inspired by the rest of the design team's cards!

Matthew 6:19-21 "Do not store up for yourself treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Use [crafty] "treasures" on your card or other project... in other words, BLING IT UP! (ie. bling = gems, pearls, dazzling diamonds, charms, etc.)
The first card is made with a free digi by Cuddly Buddly! I made the snowflake with the Spellbinder's Build a Snowflake 1. Sherry Cheever did a wonderful tutorial over on SCS for this. And for my 2nd card... I used a free digi from The Daisie Company. I was so excited to come across this site as they offer a whole gingerbread village and comes with several houses, bank, church, candy shop, etc. as well as gingerbread boys and girls and trees galore. Talk about treasures! You'll prolly need to click on my photo to see all the "bling" - I used dazzling diamonds on all the white spots, and sparkly glitter pens on all the scalloped shingles, doorways, candies etc. Fun card to do! If I had more time I might have made a whole village!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you'll join us this week with some bling on your cards!! Our wonderful sponsor this week is Simon Says Stamp, who is donating a super cute Exclusive Stamp Set that's perfect for a chilly winter! =) Hop on over to enter!!

High Hopes Christmas Ornament

Happy Saturday!! Only 13 days til Christmas! I'm not getting as much done as I'd like to by this time of year... handmade cards included, eeks! But I'm still plugging along on them =)

Kelly sent me this cute High Hopes stamp this week called Shepherd's Awe. Those sheep are so cute and scallopy, I mean wooly! I almost used liquid applique on them but decided to just highlight the insides just a tad instead. I added yellow stickles to the stars and dazzling diamonds around the outside of the Label Nesty. The image is watercolored.

So I made an ornament using this Spellbinders Pendant die, cut twice out of brown and green. Then added the hanger and put a back piece cut to the same shape as the image on front and wha-la! =) These are really fun and easy to make too!

Thanks for droppin' by today! You can hop on over to the store and see what fun stamps are on sale and there's even some Spellbinder's and other items on clearance! Also, if you spend $50, you get $10 OFF!! Just use coupon code Dec2009 when checking out =)

Happy Stampin' N' Scrappin'!!!

Cuddly Buddly Ornament

Here's an ornament I made with the Spellbinder's Pendant and this cute snowman digi that's free from Cuddly Buddly! They have a bunch of really cute freebies for Christmas and winter right now. I watercolored the snowman and added stickles to the snowflakes and stripes on his scarf and bow on hat. I also cut another label piece same size as my image out of the blue c.s. for the back to make it look a little more finished. Lots to do today, so I'm making this short. I'll have another ornament tomorrow with a cute stamp from High Hopes. Have a fabulous Friday!

LaLa's Sittin' In a Wreath

It's Wednesday again, which means it's time for another fun challenge in La-La Land!! This week's hostess is my wonderful friend & DT sister, Lisa! She is lovin' the 'new' Christmas colors, Pink and Green, so our challenge this week is to use Pink, Green, and a neutral on our cards!

I saw a couple of these cute wreaths, including this one made by my DT sister, Jessica using the Martha Stewart 'branch' punch, so I tried one and I LOVE it! Doesn't "Sitting LaLa" look so sweet on the wreath? :) The pink ribbon is velvet and adds a nice girly touch to this already "girly" card! lol - and the white fancy layer behind the wreath is my new Spellbinders Pendent die. I just LOVE this LaLa, isn't she just the cutest with her big hair and cute little feet?! =)

For my layout I used this week's Friday Sketchers (mostly). I kinda needed to do something different with the sentiment... so I changed up the 2nd small circle. You can see the sketch HERE.

There's a SUPER CUTE LaLa stamp up for grabs to one lucky player, so come on over and enter to win, and check out what the rest of the Design Team made with this fabby color scheme!! =)

To a Sweet Little Princess

Isn't this princess with bird darling? I love this new "Lady Sophia" stamp from Paper Pretties Stamp of the Month Club. My sister and I are both in this club and we have fun issuing sister challenges between us. This time there were no guidelines except to use this new stamp. As soon as I got her out and saw the bird on her hand I thought this tree (from Cuddly Buddly) would be perfect so I drew in some grass and made a li'l scene.

I almost put a sentiment on the front but then thought about those fun easel cards so I made one of those, popped up the sentiment piece to "catch" the card front and make it stand up.
I added some punched butterflies (layered the small ones onto the large) and gems. There's also Dazzling diamonds on her... oh, what do you call it? That toulle part on her hat, and sparkly glitter pens on the tree, her hat and highlights in her dress. OH, and you can't see it, but there's also glitter on all those white polka-dots on the paper... that was already in the DP, which came from Paper Pretties as well! They have lots of really great designer papers over there!!

Now hop on over to KATHY's blog to see what she did with this cute Lady Sophia, and I'll be back tomorrow with another fun challenge card from La-La Land Crafts!! ☺

Our Li'l Christmas Tree

Hope you've enjoyed your Monday? I didn't stamp today... instead I've been spending some fun holiday time with my girls. We made some yummy sugary treats after school and then after their dad got home we decorated our li'l tree. Don't these snowflake lights looks cool? They actually are regular ol' colored lights but my BIL gave the girls some neat 3D glasses that make lights look like they're snowflakes and the other ones look like snowmen (those got lost already, sorry I can't share those cause they are so cute as well!) I held the glasses in front of the camera and after I took it, the snowflakes didn't show up on the screen, but after uploading to the computer they did! So weird! LOL. It's been a lot of fun reminiscing about past Christmases. Each year we give the girls a special ornament that depicts something about that year for them (something they liked that year like carebears or ballet etc) and we write their initials and the year on the bottom. We also have Christmas music playing through the t.v. (the HOLLY channel!) :)

Hope you are enjoying special traditions with your family! Tomorrow night we have a 4-H awards potluck to go to, but I'm hoping to get a card made in the afternoon for a sister challenge between Kathy and I, so I hope to post that before we leave. Thanks for droppin' in! :)

SSCC #16 Praying For You

Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge hostess: Ceal Pritchett

Sponsor: Sweet n' Sassy Stamps (once again-- Thanks, Korin!!)

Scripture: 2 Chronicles 7:14 "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

Challenge: make a card or project using images of people (ie..children, men, women) to let someone know you are praying for them.

It's late Saturday as I type this post and it's been a super long day with my kids at a 4-H competition so I am not feeling too chatty right now. But I will say a few words about this scripture. Prayer not only works, but it's my lifeline. In so many situations... any day of the week... any hour of the day, prayer gets me through. To depend on prayer does not make you a weak person, it makes you stronger. And to pray for others is sometimes the best thing you can do for them... to be that intercessor when they feel defeated or hopeless, or just need that extra comfort of knowing that a friend is lifting them up in prayer. There's power in prayer. So please join in this challenge this week and make a card for someone letting them know you are praying for them, and if you don't get time to make a card specifically for this challenge, remember to pray for someone. ☺

Button, Button, Who's Got the Button?

This week's LaLa Weekly Wednesday Challenge is hosted by the very sweet & talented Jane and she is challenging us to use buttons on our cards or other projects! Not hard for me... I love using buttons on cards! We'd LOVE to have you play along with us!! You may use any stamps you want (but if you have LaLa stamps, we'd love for you to show us what you can do with them!) ☺ Please use keyword LLWWC15 when uploading your challenge cards to online galleries this week.

For my card, I used Christmas Kirby! Isn't he a cutie?! I needed one for a young boy, so I went with green and brown. He actually had a dog that's dark brown too, so I think he'll like this one! :) The stocking has green stardust glitter pen on the stars and Holly Stickles around the edges. I also added Crystal Effects to his eyes, although the picture doesn't show that well enough. That tag on the side pulls out to reveal a message...
LOL... "I WOOF you a Merry Christmas!" ... LOL! I know, genious eh? I get a kick out of myself at times. =) I printed that on my computer with little paw prints for the "O's"

Oh, before I go, just want to remind you that there's a FREE STAMP up for grabs to one lucky winner of this "BUTTONS" challenge if you play this week! ALSO... LaLa Land Crafts is sponsoring us at Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenges this week as well with a challenge to use GIFTS on your cards! The winner of that challenge will win TWO FREE STAMPS!! WooHoo!

Now hop on over to La La Land and see the rest of our DT's fabby creations!! :) You'll be glad you did!!
