SSiC – Use Your ‘Green Thumbs’

Welcome to another fun Sunday Challenge at Stampin’ Sisters in Christ challenges!!   Marilynn is hosting the challenge this week and she shares this verse:
“[Those who trust in the Lord] shall be like a tree planted by water, sending out its roots by the stream. It shall not fear when heat comes, and its leaves shall stay green; in the year of drought it is not anxious, and it does not cease to bear fruit. “  Jeremiah 17:8

The Bible is full of analogies and I love this one.  To me, it means that those who are firmly grounded in Him (His Word, the Truth)  will be able to withstand any troubles that may come because [the Lord] will sustain us and give us strength to get us through.  Not only will we “get through it”, but we will “not be anxious and we will continue to bear fruit.” It might be hard to believe we can flourish when the world comes crashing down around us, but He gives us strength, courage, hope… everything we need to be what He will have us be.
And so our challenge this week is to use our “green thumbs”… use images of things that are planted, or simple incorporate green into your project.
Okay… you’re prolly gonna laugh at my coloring of Marci here.  She’s a bit of a deer caught in the headlights.  LOL.  But while I was looking through all the talented artists’ blogs at La-La Land Crafts, 2 in particular did unusual things with their coloring that i thought was so neat.  So I experimented with my Copic coloring.  I guess you could say I took an “online class”… but not really.  I basically studied what they did and I practiced!  Specifically adding ruffles to her dress & created a nose like Alberto, and adding colored iris’ to her eyes like Lou Mac.   You prolly either love it or hate it.  I have to admit that I wasn’t too fond of seeing everyone doing white side-ways teardrop shapes around the eyes.  But when I saw the pop of color and then more of a 3D shape to the face, I just had to try it.

Before you go looking for this Marci I have to say… she doesn’t exist!  LOL.  Well… I should say, parts of her DO!!  I only had one digi of this brand new Marci with Watering Can printed out (from work as I still don’t have a printer) … and I was coloring her up Friday after work when I totally messed up her face.  :(  What was I to do, this was the only digi that went with the rest of my card!  So… I cut her head off.  Then I grabbed a rubber stamp, Marci with Bunny and stamped just her head, and then attached it to her body…  Wha-la!!  All fixed :)  Can’t do anything about her sunburn though… I’ll tell her to wear sunscreen next time, heehee.  The wheelbarrow with buds is a free svg Garden set from Shery K Designs.

Father's Day Card & Invite

I am having a lot of fun being a Spring/Summer Guest Designer at Serendipity Stamps!  They’ve  just released some great new stamps and I’m here with my 2nd GD post!

I’ve used the Grilling Cling Set to make a Father’s Day card for dad…
and a fun Apron-shaped invitation to the BBQ for the rest of the family!!
You can’t see it in this photo, but I colored the framework on the chair and the spatula in clear stardust gellyroll pen, so when it hits the light it’s very sparkly.

And then I cut out an apron SVG from the Panda Picnic Party collection (with my Cricut) for a party invite.  Here’s the inside of the invite – the stamps shown come in the cling set
Check out the Serendipity Blog for more inspiration and see their new releases!!

Donate Life Freebies at M5D

Good morning!  Some of you know by now that on the 25th of each month, McMahon Five Designs offers a month-long FREEBIE in the way of a digi or sometimes digi+svg in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness.  The images are creatively designed to include a ribbon... and we all know that there are many different ribbon colors to symbolize other things, so the digis are pretty versatile!

Well, we've changed it up this month.  Since April is "Donate Life" month, Sue designed a special digi and svg in honor of our very own Design Team member Christine as she is a heart transplant recipient!  The beautiful freebie is very appropriately called "Gift of Life  Here's what I created using the free svg...

I created my card using colors for the 2012 Donate Life campaign which are blue and green.  You can see Sue's gorgeous card with this set HERE.  I registered to become an organ donor several years ago.   Are you??

Thanking God for the amazing technology and wisdom of doctors that make it possible to give millions a 2nd chance at life like our friend Christine.  ((big hugs gf!!))  For more info on how to become an organ donor, check out these links...

I'm a Serendipity Stamps Guest Designer!!

I was very pleasantly surprised to get an invitation from Mary at Serendipity Stamps to be their Spring/Summer Guest Designer!! They've released some great stamps that I'm a li'l nervous about doing them justice... but excited at the same time *Ü* Thank you Mary for this wonderful opportunity!!

For my first card I'm sharing some versatiile sentiments! Since I had my cricut out on the kitchen table the other day I decided that the perfect card for the "Great Job", "Stamp of Approval", and "Congratulations" would be a graduation card! My niece Ashley is graduating H.S. next month and then going to nursing school. I'm so proud of her!! I made this cute grad cap shaped card using just the cap from a graduation set at
I stamped the "Stamp of Approval" in versamark and embossed it with black ep on some shimmery gold paper. The "2012" I used my SCAL program to create and cut with my cricut. The "Great Job" I inked up using a VersaMarker to ink the words separately and then embossed in gold ep.

For the inside I stamped "Congratulations Bold" ... and inserted a pink piece on the back of the card front to hide the machine stitching that I did. Hope you like?!!

Take a look at all the wonderful Word and Verse stamps at Serendipity!! I'm so excited to show you more later as the fonts used in these red rubber stamps are beautiful!!

Have a wonderful Wednesday *Ü*

SSiC - Inspired Cards in Soft Pastels

Good Morning!  We’ve been having really nice weather in the 60’s-70’s this weekend!  Hope it’s nice where you are too!  We have a new challenge up at Stampin’ Sisters in Christ  Challenges.   Our hostess is Lovely Linda who chose this verse:  “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”  Psa 119:105 and so her challenge for us is to use Soft Pastels (you may use white/brown/black as a neutral).  Our sponsor is Inspired Stamps who is offering the winner of our challenge a $15 gift voucher to their store!!

Many thanks to Antoinette at Inspired Stamps (our sponsor) for gifting our Design Team with clear stamps for our projects!!  For my first card I used  His Little Ones: Praying Girl, and a sentiment from the Inspired Stampers Favorite Collection #2, in which I popped up off of the beautiful doily stamp called Lovely Lace.

A little tip:  make sure when using clear stamps to “condition your stamps” before the first use.  I didn’t do that at first and I wasn’t getting a real solid ink-up.  So after I went over it with an eraser (and rinsed and dried) I inked up my brayer with Lavender Lace classic ink and rolled it onto the Lovely Lace stamp and it produced a much better, solid image. )

For the praying girl, I decided to try a technique I saw (in the SCS Weekly Inkling??) called “Coloring w/o Lines.”  You stamp it in a very light color (I used Pretty in Pink) and then I used my Copics to color from the lightest shade to the darkest.  Makes for a much softer…  kinda painted look!

And for my 2nd card, I used the set called, “Flowers”  along with my daughter’s sketch at Sketches by Carly.   I inked up the daisy in grey ink instead of black for a softer look.

Here’s a pic to show the 3 layers.  Some of the petals I cut out from various layers and used zots to mount them together.

Thanks for stopping by!!  I hope you’ll play in our Pastel challenge this week!

Doodle Pantry's Pansy Turtle

Just Poppin' up to say Hello!

I know I haven't been posting too much here lately.  Still no printer... that works anyways!  I did get one but it won't print on cardstock so... I printed this cute pre-colored digi from work.  *Ü*  Can't do it all the time, but I figured once or twice won't hurt.
carlysketch 54
This turtle is sooo CUTE!  It's called Pansy Turtle. It comes with outlines and fully colored plus a couple of digi papers!!  And I also wanted to get in on Doodle Pantry's Digital challenge--just use any DP image and you will receive a free new release set!!  The sketch is from Sketches by Carly this week, but I turned it 180.
I'll be back this Sunday with another Scripture challenge from SSiC.  See ya then!

SSiC - Chipmunk Shaker Card

Good  morning!!  It’s my turn to host this week’s Stampin’ Sisters in Christ challenge.
The verse I chose is Colossians 1:27b, “Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
My challenge is to use something transparent (ie. vellum, acetate – window sheets)
Our sponsor is Serendipity Stamps, who generously gifted each of our DT a rubber stamp set of our choice for today’s projects!!  THANK YOU again, Serendipity!!
For my card I used this cute Chipmunk with Daffodil to make a shaker card!  It also comes with a cute sentiment that I put on the inside of my card (see pic below).

Serendipity  sells window sheets (acetate) – you get 10 sheets of 8.5x11 for only $1

I used yellow dew drops for my noise-makers—makes shaking it more fun!! ha

I used a FREE svg daffodil from

The one on the front I cut out of vellum and the inside of card I just used cardstock.

Here’s the Inside of shaker card:

Colossians 1:27b, “Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

Sometimes Scripture just speaks for itself, doesn’t it?  Paul is telling the church of Colosse about the glorious gift that is available even to Gentiles… which is “Christ in you, the hope of glory.”  It’s only because of Jesus Christ and His sacrificial love that all people can have the hope of Christ and spend eternity in glory with Him!

This verse came to mind when my boss asked me to laminate some things for him.  Last summer he went to Zimbabwe for a couple months, and when he came back he put in my hands a real 10 trillion dollar bill, (that’s 13 zeroes!), a 50 billion dollar bill, a 50 million dollar bill, 10 million dollars, 500 thousand dollars, etc.  Wish I could share some pics of them, pretty impressive!   Anyways, those denominations are no longer used in Zimbabwe  so now they sell them as souvenirs.

Their paper money is quite unique! Besides the fact that each denomination is a different color and a different size, the artwork on them is beautiful with pictures of African wildlife and landscapes.  However, it was very easy to counterfeit. People have even made photo copies and passed them as legal tender!    So the government decided to leave a blank, white space at the right center of the bills. When the money is viewed normally, this space seems to be completely void of any design or markings, but when the bill is held up to the light, a clear image of the Zimbabwe national bird is seen.  But the image of the bird is on the inside of the bill, making it nearly impossible to copy.

So the thought crossed my mind… what if people could hold us up to the light and see what’s inside?? Would they see the image of Christ??

Sometimes I’m glad people can’t see what’s inside… especially when someone treats me unfairly, or says something condescending… or when I’m just having a bad day and my kids have pushed my buttons for the last time.   None of us are perfect, or even at times perceived as Christian to others.  But the good news is that I accepted Christ into my heart at 9 yrs. old and because of that, nothing and no one can take away the living Christ in me.  I’ve been forgiven and I have HOPE that there’s something more glorious than we can imagine beyond this life here on earth… and I strive to live my life in a way that others can see Christ in me.

And so my challenge to you this week is to use something transparent!  You don't have to use a Scripture verse or make a "religious" type of card... but my hope is that you'll think about Christ in your life as you make your creation this week.

I hope you’ll join us at SSiC Blog and see our new blog makeover and view my DT sister’s creations!!  Have a blessed week!

I Feel the Love Project - Emily

What a blessing it is when you come across someone who takes time to do special things for other people!!   I wanted to pop in here today to share with you about a special girl named Madison (age 16) who runs a constant card drive called "I Feel the Love Project".  She highlights a different child each month who could use some cheering up!!  This month's recipient is named Emily who was recently diagnosed with Leukemia. You can see her picture and read her story HERE.

Madison has a linky in April's IFTLP post for us all to link up our cards before we mail them to her.  I am cheating just a bit here as I barely have time to make cards for the 2 DT's I'm on lately and I've got bunches of cards sitting in boxes that I need to weed through and get sent to OWH.  So I looked and found this cutie which is going in the mail today.  I know Emily likes pink and purple, horses and kitties...  but pandas are pretty irresistable too, aren't they??!  *Ü*

For this card I used Sweet Dreams Marci & Panda from La-La Land Crafts.

I have a link up top called "Cards for a Cause" which I will list card drives such as this, and Operation Write Home etc.  If you know of others please let me know and I'd be happy to get it on my page!

Thanks again Madison for starting the "I Feel the Love Project"!!  I'm sure these kids feel the love and so do their families.  Blessings,

SSiC – Make it Joyful: Something Celebratory

Good morning and Happy Easter to you all!!

Today’s challenge at Stampin’ Sisters in Christ is to make a joyful card: something celebratory!!  Traci is our lovely hostess this week and she shares this verse:

Hebrews 12:2-3 "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart."

Christians all over the world are celebrating the most joyous event in history… the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  The message never gets old, it is the key foundation of my faith and I am looking forward to going to church today and hearing it once again.  I’ve never had the pleasure of hearing Billy Graham preach, however Traci shares a snippet from one of his Easter messages on our challenge blog, so be sure to pop over if you’d like… and also check out what the other DT made!
♥   ♥   ♥
So my printer finally went kaput on me.  I cringed at the thought, but I did decide to buy a new one online yesterday for $59.99 (Epson Stylus 230) at the advice of a friend and am hoping it will have a good long run!  :)

In the meantime, I’ve been using my Cricut more…. and I have TWO ‘Joyful’ projects to share for this challenge! Both of my cards today also fit the "Cooking With Cricut" challenge which is EASTER!  And the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge is to Use an Egg!

This first one I used my Create-a-Critter cartridge and my SCAL software to cut out a shaped card and these cute li’l “Easter animals”!

I drew some faces and doodling on them based on some I had seen online.

   ♥   ♥   ♥
And for my next card…  I really surprised myself!  I Googled how to make an SVG file and I downloaded the free program, watched a video and then went to work with McMahon Five Designs’ beautiful Everlasting Flower digi… converting it into an svg file.  I cut it with my Cricut.  Still needs a bit of re-working, but not too shabby for my first time creating an svg huh??

Here is the digi from M5D:
and here’s my card with the SVG I made…

Hope you’re having a blessed Easter Sunday today with your families!!
We are going to church after I throw a ham in the roaster and “party potatoes” in the crockpot, and of course deviled eggs and salad!  Yep, I’m doing it all and taking it my MIL’s for the day.  Should be fun!  Hope y’all have a great one!!

What's so "Good" about Good Friday?

"How is celebrating the death of someone good news"? The brutality of crucifixion is horrific so how can that be good news?
Even though it was a horrific death, Jesus being crucified made it possible for you and me to stand right before God. And that’s the good news. No, that's GREAT news! Jesus said, "there is no greater love than to lay your life down for a friend… and you are my friends…" John 15:13
I hope this Easter season you get to experience the good news of Good Friday in a fresh new way.

 “Why Jesus?”

Paris-Inspired Projects by my DD, Carly

Bonjour bloggy peeps!!  Well, I haven't made anything new the last few days, so I thought I'd pop on here and share what Carly made for a very fun hostess-challenge at La-La Land Crafts for Kids blog!  A question was thrown out to the girls (hostesses) "If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you want to go?"  and all of them said Paris was one of those places.  So we thought it'd be fun for them to do a Paris-inspired challenge!

I had found this fun Girly SVG set from called Amelie’s Accessories.  Take a look at what Carly made...

The box is really nice sized too for trinkets and things!!

Now how about the others??  Hop on over to the LLLC4Kids blog to see the other fabby projects and leave the girls a comment?  Kids LOOOVE comments!!  *Ü*

You can also visit Carly’s personal blog HERE.  Thanks for dropping by!!

PCW#79 From One Quack Case to Another

Happy Sunday once again!!  I am having too much fun with my cricut you guys!  I came across a new challenge (well… new to ME) at the place I purchased the cute Strawberry Shortcake Bear from my earlier card today… it’s called Paper Crafting World and their challenge is called Cooking With Cricut.  This week’s challenge is inspired by April Fool’s … MAKE US LAUGH(Use a pun-ny saying, Quote or just plain make them laugh!)

I was inspired by a card my sister sent me recently with this sentiment.  Too funny!  I called her up and said, “SPEAK FOR YOURSELF LI’L MISSY!!!”  HaHaHa.  (not really… we both are quack cases and you’d agree if you heard us on the phone!!)  *Ü*

Well, hope I made you laugh today!  Now I gotta chuck my stinkin’ printer out the window cause it won’t let me print digis!!  It’s not more than… 4 or 5 years old but it’s giving me fits so I just feel like throwing it away and gettin’ a new one.  Wish money grew on trees!!  LOL.

OH YA… I was gonna say, I *NEED* my printer cause I just got some new digis from Doodle Pantry!!  They’re having some great specials and even some FREEBIES!!  If you’ve never seen Laurie’s ADORABLE BIRDIES or ANTS… you’ve got to go check em out.  This new release is Fabulous!!

Happy Crafting!!  *Ü*

SSiC - Luke 15:20 - Make a Motion Card

Good morning and a blessed Palm Sunday to you all!!  A new challenge is up at Stampin’ Sisters in Christ challenges today and our hostess is Peggysue who shares this verse:

Luke 15:20 “So he got up and went to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.”

This is the story of the Prodigal Son…  and what a perfect example of the unconditional love our heavenly Father has toward us when we decide to turn back to Him after going our own way.  He not only is there waiting for us to come back… but RUNS to us when we take that first step.

Be sure to pop over to SSiC blog to read Peggysue’s wonderful devotional for this week and see all the DT’s cards!  Our sponsor is Pizzazz Aplenty with a $10 Gift Pkg. We’re also having a DT CALL right now, through April 20th for those interested *Ü*

The Challenge:   Make a card with motion, or an interactive card (spinner, viewmaster, pop up, slider, gel, etc.)  There are lots of tutorials on SCS here

I’ve made a Sliding Pop Up card with this adorable Strawberry Shortcake Bear SVG from Paper Crafting World and entering this into their challenge #79 going on right now which is ... MAKE US LAUGH!  (pun on berries... berry sweet friend)

When you pull that green tab on the bottom of the card, the back of the card (and bear) will pop up to reveal a hidden message!!

The bear is put together with pop dots and I used a piece of heavy acetate for the tab that she’s taped to so it doesn’t show behind her.

For those who’ve been praying for 6 yr. old Leah, I received this update from Jerusha this past week.  Sorry it’s taken me a few days to post this…
I have just heard from Leah's mom and she is off the ventilator now. She has no brain damage at all and is able to speak as she had before... bossy, as usual! Hehe. She is still on dialysis and they are unsure of the kidney function at this point. Also, she is unable to walk as the infection was into her muscles. She is working with a therapist to be able to  walk again. Yesterday she had no dialysis for four hours which is a huge improvement!! The doctors at the hospital have said that in the run of a year, there are usually only about 3 or 4 children that are saved that were at the point of death, and Leah is one of them. It was truly and completely a miracle. Thank you so much for your prayers!!”
Praise God for the miracles He’s already given this family!!
Leah also has 3 brothers so please keep the whole family in your prayers.

If you’d like to send Leah a card, (or her parents or brothers), please email me at krisb33 AT yahoo DOT com for her mailing address.  Thanks Jerusha for updates!!
