SSCC – You Color My World

Good morning bloggy friends!!  So, it’s been a whole week since I’ve posted a card… that’s so not “the norm” for me.  I think the winter blah-zays have hit me.  Why does the shortest month of the year always feel so long?  Once Valentine’s Day is over the rest of it goes downhill it seems.  We did get some snow here yesterday, but not enough to play in, bummer :(    So when I created this very colorful card it perked me right up.  *Ü*

This week’s inspiration theme at La-La Land Crafts  is RAINBOWS which inspired this card… and it totally fits with our new challenge today at Stampin’ Sisters in Christ. The lovely Traci is hosting this week’s challeng e and she was inspired by James 1:2-3 "Consider it a great joy, my brothers, whenever you experience various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance."  Super fabulous devotional as well, so be sure to pop on over to our SSIC challenge blog to read that and see all the colorful inspiration!!

Our sponsor is none other than… La-La Land Crafts stamps who is giving away these 3 rubber stamps to one lucky player in our challenge!  Super cute huh?
For my card I colored up Mod Marci with Copics.  The rainbow paper is so bright and pretty.  I am thinking it’s by Echo Park.  I added machine stitching and the yellow strip I cut using my Cricut with a free SVG file of borders.

You might wonder about a GREEN guitar… but my daughter Maddy actually plays a green guitar!  *Ü*  Let me see if I can find a photo for you.  Well, not the best photo, but here’s an “in between gigs” shot…

Just a reminder… if you have kids who like to craft, please check out our La-La Land Craft for KIDS blog!!  There’s contests every other week and the kids post fun projects between contests as well.  I made up some cute badges with their new release images… feel free to take one and have your kids come play with us!!

Have a great week!!

Fragrance of Life...

Good morning!  It’s Sunday and that means we have a new challenge up at Stampin’ Sisters in Christ Challenges!  The Scripture that inspired Peggysue this week is 2 Cor 2:16b . . ."to the other the fragrance of life" ~ please hop over to our challenge blog to read her thoughts on this verse and join in the challenge, which is:  USE FLOWERS  ~ we have a new sponsor this week too called Verses Rubber Stamps who is offering one player a $20 Gift Certificate!

The Fragrance of Life:  This verse reminds me of a song I sang in H.S. many years ago called “The Perfect Rose” by Dottie Rambo.  It speaks of how sweet the fragrance is when the rose petals are crushed… and then in the 2nd verse it compares it to Jesus being our perfect rose, that was crushed for our sins.  Let me see if I can find the lyrics for you, it’s a beautiful song!

In a corner on a table on a spread of Ivory lace.
Framed and kissed by pastel colors dancing through the crystal vase
Scarlet red it’s petals, opened in full bloom.
Taking nothing but the sunshine leaving fragrance in the room
Hands reached out without a reason crushed and bruised the petals so
Causing yet a sweeter fragrance from the weeping dying rose
Lying now in ruins to wither scattered now by careless hands
Once an art of perfect beauty dies to never bloom again
In a corner of a stable on a spread of swaddling clothes
Just a tiny bud but destined to become The Perfect Rose.
Angels hailed His entrance Wise Men brought Him gold
Knowing little of the suffering that would soon befall The Rose
Hands reached out without a reason crushed and bruised The Perfect Rose
Causing yet a sweeter fragrance as the crimson color flowed
Ugly thorns had never marred it ‘till a crown of thorns He wore
Tasting death the Rose of Sharon rose to bloom forever more, forever more.

Thank you, Lord for being The Perfect Rose!!  Because You allowed Yourself to be crushed and bruised and put to death, we can have everlasting life with You in Heaven!!

This card is not my usual style… but I think I really like it.  I want to thank my friend Traci for the $20 GC I won on her blog which allowed me to get this beautiful stamp set of Nina Brackett’s called Hugs & Prayers.  I love birds and don’t have many bird stamps, so this set jumped out at me – so pretty!  So I made this card to thank Traci for her generous gift.  I also want to thank my friend Helen for the li’l bunch of purple flowers in the corner—she sent me those in a li’l birthday package last year—thanks Helen!

I stamped the images in VersaMark on vellum cardstock and embossed with white ep.  Then I colored on the backside with Copic markers and layered onto light pink cardstock and machine-stitched around the square.  For the base card, I used a FREE svg from SheryKdesigns called Lacey Square.  I used my SCAL software to add a rounded square and overlapped them just barely to create a fold line at the top.   I’m so excited about learning li’l things like that with my software… after having it for a year it’s like Christmas all over again when I learn something new with it!  It cut beautifully.
Hope you’ll come play along in our challenge this week!  All ya gotta do is Use Flowers!!  *Ü*

Valentine's for RMHC & a CDAC Challenge

Happy Valentine’s Day to all my bloggy friends out there!!  Hope you have a wonderful day today and feel very loved by your friends and family today.
I have a couple things to share… this first is another mailbox that my daughter Carly made for the Ronald McDonald House that we stayed at when my youngest was born.  She was 6 1/2 weeks preemie and stayed in the NICU for a month.  The RMH was such a blessing as they only charge what you can pay, but ask for $0 - $15 per night.  So we try to give back when we can and one way we do that is by taking Valentine’s to leave for the families staying there.  Carly and I made 15 of these cuties with my cricut and an SVG set and we delivered it yesterday while in town.  You can see more pictures of the box etc. on Carly’s Blog.  Maddy made some homemade valentines too that I’m sure she’ll be sharing on her blog soon.  We took her valentines to the kids in the hospital.  It’s always a wonderful feeling to give back in this way and they really appreciate the gesture as well.  :)

We had a wonderful day yesterday!!  Besides delivering the valentines, the whole family saw that movie “Big Miracle” (about the 3 whales).  Good movie!  Then we hit a few shops and ate dinner at Olive Garden…Yum!
By the time we got home (9 p.m.) I realized I had 3 hours to get a card made and uploaded for the CDAC progressive freebie challenge!!  ACK.  Not wanting to stay up much longer, I made a quickie card so I don’t miss out on the next group of free images!   I used the cute bear from Sew Many Cards and added some winter accessories from Doodle Pantry!  The sentiment I computer-generated and says “Thinking of you warms my heart.”

Thanks for stopping by!! *Ü*  And Happy Valentine’s Day to you!!

Amazing Birthday Pressies from my DD’s

Hello again!  I know I’ve already posted today (you can see that below this post if you missed my baby gift ensemble) but today was my birthday and I just HAVE to show you what my daughters made me!!  Some of you know Carly from Sketches by Carly, she’s 13 and getting so very talented in the craft department!!  Look at this GORGEOUS mailbox she made me!  All those paper roses she made herself and the leaves too!  She took a bone folder to make the veins in the leaves and then sponged em.

While I was out running an errand yesterday, she used my Cricut to cut out the letters of my name for the other side of the mailbox:

She colored up this cute swinging girl from The Paper Shelter and hung her from a tree limb (a sizzix die) and more smaller rolled roses.

Here’s a close-up of her rolled roses and leaves:

As if that weren’t enough, she also made me this adorabear card!!  *Ü*

and my youngest daughter Maddy made me a super cute (and very CREATIVE) card too!  Look what she made!  She cut the grass blades and made cattails with brown stickles on them.  Love the cute teeth she added and the water looks REAL!  Great job on those roses Maddy—Love them!!

Thank you to the most WONDERFUL daughters in the world!!  Love you girls so much and am looking forward to a super day with you tomorrow (we’re going to “big town” to celebrate and do something special that I’ll fill you in on this Tuesday!)  Thanks for stopping~ Have a great week bloggy friends!!

Valentine Blog Hop with SSIC and WAW

Welcome!!  You’ve arrived at Kristine’s stop on our Valentine Blog Hop where it’s “All about love—God’s love!”

If you haven’t started at the beginning, I invite you to do so at  Word Art Wednesday!!   There is a complete hop order listed there as well as all the details – I will tell you this, there’s a fabulous GRAND PRIZE to be won and several designers are giving away li’l blog candies on their own blogs, so be sure to comment on all your stops along the way!!

Cassandra provided our designers with this word art in which John quotes Jesus words, "As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; now remain in My love.”   John 15:9

I created my card with these hands forming a heart (by Heart & Soul Rubber Stamp Co.) because they remind me of Jesus holding my heart in His hands.  I gave my heart to Jesus as a young child.  Although I've had times where I strayed away, I never left the hands of Jesus.  "I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand."  John 10:28  There's nothing more comforting than knowing that He's capable of handling something so vulnerable as a heart, and knowing  we can trust Him to protect it, nurture it, hold, comfort and mend it when it’s broken, and even fill it with joy.  There’s nothing so great as the Father’s love for His children.  No matter what we do, there’s nothing so bad that He can’t forgive… He’s already paid the price on the cross.  Jesus loved us THAT much.  I hope this blog hop has touched your heart and that you felt God’s love for you in the words shared and art created.
♥   ♥   ♥
I’d like to help “spread the love” even more by giving away a beautiful paper pad over on the SSIC blog, which is your next stop!  Hop on over and thanks so much for joining us in this Love Hop ~ I hope you were blessed by it!!

Just Skiing by to Say Hi!

Happy Tuesday… brrr, it’s cold outside!!  I wish it would either snow or be sunny don’t you??  Anyways, my card tonight showcases a new release digi set from Doodle Pantry called Ski Sheep and comes with 2 digital papers and a variety of sentiments too!  You can see more samples with this cute li’l guy in the shop HERE.

We’re having a monthly challenge going on once again and everyone who plays WINS!  Hop over to the DP blog to see what cute set you can win this month just for entering your card or other project using ANY Doodle Pantry Image!
For my card I used curling ribbon that you tie up packages with – I don’t know why I used that, but it was in my ribbon bin so I grabbed it and went with it.  I also added some dazzling diamonds glitter to the top snowflake.  The sketch is the current one at Sketches by Carly – come play along with us!

The JOY of the Lord is My Strength

Good morning *Ü*
I had 3 challenges in mind when I sat down to create my card for today.
  1. Stampin' Sisters in Christ - Marilynn shares John 3:16 this week and challenges us to create a project that shows love; it could be using a heart, or the word Love.
  2. Word Art Wednesday - Use the word art freebie for this week, which is Nehemiah 8:10, "The Joy of the Lord is my strength."
  3. Word Card Tutorial in this week's SCS Weekly Inkling newsletter - I challenged myself to create an interpretation of their "I ♥ U" to fit my WAW challenge, "JOY"
Upclose of the Word Art – Nehemiah 8:10
You can make any word you'd like, and if it's a longer word, you can always glue the ends of cs. together to make a longer strip!

I encourage you to hop over to the Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge blog this week and read Marilynn's words of encouragement.  She has a bonus challenge to send your card to someone that might need to be reminded of God's love.  (especially those who might be alone next week during Valentine's and may just need that reminder that there IS someone who loves them more than anyone else ever could... Jesus!) In combining challenges, I decided to make my word card JOY.  I can't imagine that JOY can exist without Love as God is the giver of true joy, and... God is Love!  So instead of making the "O" in Joy, I made it a heart.  :)  Speaking of love... I want to invite you all to a Valentine Blog Hop that SSIC and WAW are having Feb. 9 – 13 where it’s all about love—God’s Love!!  There will be LOVE-ly projects and prizes so we hope you’ll join us!
Before I go I want to share this beautiful song sung by Jackie Evacho called, "To Believe." Gorgeous voice and beautiful message that will bless you today.

Hope you'll join in these challenges ~ I'll be lookin' for ya!
Have a wonderful week friends *Ü*

Doodle Pantry Release Day ~ Rev. 3:20

Morning!!  Happy first day of February ♥ ♥  It’s ‘new release’ day at Doodle Pantry so the DT have lots of eye candy showing off the fabby new digis!

My card uses a set called “Knocking” and includes this hand knocking along with 4 sentiments.  I used the Rev. 3:20 digi, “Behold I stand at the door and knock”…  if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.
Also, a new challenge begins today, DPDC#20 and all you have to do to earn a FREE SET is use any Doodle Pantry image and enter using the blue frog (linky).
For my card, I used Copics in lots of shades of browns for the door and am pretty pleased with the outcome.  The sketch is the current at Sketches by Carly (kinda).  ;)  I embossed the olive layer with the brick wall folder.  (sorry can’t see it in this pic).  Carly told me I needed to distress my brown floral layer so I did.  She’s got good intuition when it comes to crafting.  Actually my other daughter does too as she helped me out the other day and I was so happy with the result :)  So nice to have a couple “friends” to craft with!!
Hope you’ll pop over to the Challenge blog and see what else is NEW… and then join our challenge *Ü*
