His Indescribable Gift

It's time for a new Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge!!  Plus, I have Blog Candy - see below *Ü*

Hostess:  Sandie

Scripture Inspiration:  Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Challenge:  "TIME" - Use clocks/watches, calendars, sundials, etc. OR black and white only (to represent night and day).

Sponsor:  Inspired Stamps who graciously sent our Design Team some wonderful clear acrylic stamps to inspire you!!  One player will receive a $15 credit to spend in their store!!

I started on a flip over calendar for next year, starting with December 2012.  The Scripture verse is from our sponsor, Inspired Stamps,  the layered Christmas poinsettia is from the "Deck the Halls Colored Digi set" and I'm super excited about the matching Deck the Halls Digi Paper Pack (both available at Daydream Designs)!  The stand and sleeves are from Taylored Expressions.  I hope to create a new page for each month of the year and share with you as I go.

The digi papers are already sized to 6x6" which was exactly the size for the sleeves.  So I pasted the digi paper into a Word Document.  Then I pasted a December calendar from my Publisher program on top of it and printed it out.  Then I also printed (3) of the poinsettia so I could cut parts of it out and pop dot the layers.  The fancy frame around my verse is from My Favorite Things.
and here's a (bad grainy pic-sorry) of the 3 layered poinsettia that I pop dotted for dimension.

Diane Noble did a bang up job designing this gorgeous poinsettia, candle, candy canes, wreaths and my favorite... a cardinal in the Deck the Halls Digi Set!  You can check out all the Deck the Hall items HERE.

And of course I just have to show you a close up of the pretty Christmas papers I created this week using the Deck the Halls digi set and Boughs & Borders!

How would you like to WIN this Digi Paper Pack?

Just leave me a comment telling me what you love most about Christmas and I will draw a winner for this Christmas pack on my daughter's birthday ... this Thursday, Nov. 1st *Ü*

I thought I'd show you the full sheet of a few in this beautiful pack including some scenescapes that would be easy to add a verse to or even a picture for quick scrap pages!

There are 10 sheets in the pack for only $3.95!!  I know what I'll be using for my quick Christmas cards this year!!  I'd better get started soon though ya think??  lol.

I hope you have a blessed week and will come join in our challenge at SSiC this week!

SSiC162 - What Speaks Peace to You?

Good morning!  I have lots to share today, so let's get right to it *Ü*

Today starts a new challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenges!  Peggysue is our hostess this week and she shares this verse:  "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."  John 16:33 (NIV)

The Challenge is:  Make a card that to you represents peace or calm; with an image, color scheme, CAS layout or verse, something that speaks peace to you, but peace symbols themselves are excluded. The card has to speak peace through your own style.

Well the first thing that comes to mind when I read or hear "peace" is Jesus.  He IS peace and without Him, there is no peace.  So with that in mind I'm "breaking my own rules" by sharing a card I made... 3 years ago.  Time did not allow me to create a new card using this awesome set from Our Daily Bread Designs, but I just love this card and speaks peace to me.
And now for a brand new card made this week for this challenge...

There's a place I love going to that is very peaceful... and that is to the ocean.  Our family has made it an annual vacation to spend a week at the beach each summer.  And so the colors green and blue, and the peaceful singing of birds inspired this card  *Ü*  I used a brand new release from McMahon Five Designs called "Love and Friendship."

And before you go, I want to share who our sponsor is this week!

The lovely Diane from Daydream Designs!!  One player will be randomly chosen to receive a $20 Gift Voucher to the store!

Speaking of Daydream Designs… I’d love to share with you some new Christmas stuff
I've been working on that's now available in the store!

Come join our challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ this week and you could be the winner and/or one of 3 Shining Stars who will be showcased on our blog the following week!

And last but not least... I want to share our newly adopted "2nd Chance" doggy.  This is Lacy.

She came a long way to find us as she was originally found as a stray in California and brought up  to the Oregon Humane Society in Portland in the 2nd Chance program.  I found her online and drove 2 1/2 hours to get her.  She's a 4 yr. old Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix.  These pics were taken in our backyard but she's definitely an indoor "lap dog" as she craves attention and loves to be everywhere I am.  Carly & Maddy fell in love with her instantly and we've even found her sleeping in my hubby's lap a few times  :)  She tolerates our other dog Ginger pretty well as we walk them together, although we won't be seeing them curled up together any time soon.  But I think they’re both pretty happy with us  :)
I had to snap some shots of hubby playing with the girls...

Have a great week!

O, Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree

♫ lovely are your branches ♪  ~ That song has been running through my head all weekend!!   I can sing Christmas songs all year round... but really, aren't these branches lovely??  This is a new die from La-La Land Crafts!

Our challenge this week at Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenges is to
use an image or a die cut of a tree on your project!

Our lovely hostess is Miesje who shares this verse:
But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God;
I trust in God's unfailing love for ever and ever.  Psalm 52:10

Our sponsor this week is Whimsy Stamps who is offering one random player their choice of 5 digis!

Please hop over to our challenge blog and read Miesje's wonderful devotional on her Scripture choice-- you will be blessed!  We also can't wait to see what you'll create for our challenge!!  In addition to one winner, 3 of you will be chosen as our Shining Stars and will be showcased on our blog *Ü*

Email Woes

I know there are much worse things to worry about in this life.  And the fast paced, have-to-have-it-now, "microwave society" doesn't do us any favors when it comes to patience, I'll say that much.  But when it's been a busy week and ya don't have much time to blog or even check your own emails, it sure is frustrating when you get a message like this:

Is it just Yahoo mail that seems to be down pretty often?  or do other mail servers have their share of down time as well??  I know it's free, but just wondering if there's something more reliable out there.  Any thoughts?
