SSCC God's Creatures Great & Small

Happy Sunday everyone!  Today we have a great devotional and challenge by Peggysue at Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenges.  I’m looking forward to worship time this morning as it’s been a couple weeks since we’ve gone to church with vacation and all.  And since we have several of our DT taking a li’l break, we are welcoming 2 Guest Designers for the next month:  Traci Major and Theresa Kline… Welcome ladies!!

Our sponsor this week is Doodle Pantry and Laurie has provided some awesome digis to our design team, so be sure to hop on over to the SSCC blog and check out what our DT created... thanks again Laurie!!

Peggysue picked this verse to share: Psalm 148:7-10 7 "Praise the LORD from the earth, you great sea creatures and all ocean depths, 8 lightning and hail, snow and clouds, stormy winds that do his bidding, 9 you mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars, 10 wild animals and all cattle, small creatures and flying birds."

Make a card using any type of creature from tiny (like an ant or bug) to a very large creature (whale, elephant) on your card or project.
What a fun card challenge!  I’m sure you all have some animal stamps or digis right?  If not, Doodle Pantry has LOTS of Freebies HERE (although you can use any vendor you’d like for our challenge!)

Recently my family and I spent a week at the beach and it was wonderful!  It's been several years since we've been -- they of course love to build sandcastles, find shells and play in the water.  I enjoy walking the beach and several mornings I took my lawn chairs and devotional book early in the morning before anyone else was up.  Loved spending my "quiet time" with the roar of the ocean and the cool breeze... and even the seagulls flying.  The vastness of the ocean always helps puts things into perspective for me.  And this verse today made me think... even the OCEAN praises God!  The mountains, the birds... the rocks praise Him and He indeed is worthy of our praise!!  Our design team have shared some of our favorite praise & worship songs with you...

Here is one of my new faves,  “Happy Day  (*this video is not actually shown in church… just thought it was super cute in reference to the song… so I encourage you to listen to the lyrics, hard as it may be --those penguins are too cute!)

I decided to make a baby card for my niece who just had a baby boy a couple weeks ago, using Doodle Pantry’s Saddle Up (large horse) and Baby Horse and colored with Copics.  I fell in love with Katlyn's horse card so I kinda CASEd her idea of using this larger horse with the baby.  *Ü*

We'd love for you to join our challenge!  One player will win $10 worth of digis to the Doodle Pantry store!!

Visit the rest of the team for lots more inspiration…

Wild Rose with Ribbon Frame

Long time no see!  Actually, it’s only been 6 days since I last posted, but for me that’s a long time!  I had a wonderful week at the beach last week… but it’s also good to be back.  I will have to share more about our vaca when I can get my pictures organized *Ü*

Today I want to share a card I made with Doodle Pantry’s beautiful new set, Wild Rose.  There is also another flower in the digi set and comes with several sentiments.  I colored with Copics and then made this ribbon frame, which I saw on Yvonne-anabelle’s blog.  Her work is amazing!!  I cut the frame using 2 sizes of circle Spellbinders and added tape to the back.  Then began wrapping satin ribbon around, added a bow and then pop dotted it to the flower layer, which is printed on vanilla cardstock.  The flower center has some crystal effects with yellow and white glitter for a li’l pop.

We have a new “Stock the Pantry” challenge that goes til the end of the month!!
THEME:  use any Doodle Pantry Image
WINNERS:  3 will be chosen to receive your choice of digi ($3 or less)

Peacock Beauty by Designed 2 Delight

Well hello friends and happy Tuesday!!  Right now I'm basking in the sun at the beach--I hope!  I prescheduled this while I am away this week.  Although looking at the weather on the Oregon coast it looks a bit coldish -- with 30% chance of precip :( boo!  LOL.  We've been wanting to go for a couple years now, so we rented a beach house for a week.  But I don't know... the weather this year has been kinda crazy!!   Crossing fingers for some awesome weather!

Speaking of the beach... this week's D2D Designer's Saturday Challenge is “Let’s go to the BEACH!”  So let’s see what beachy, tropical or even really summery creations you can come up with for this week’s challenge!

Well, not sure what I think of this here card.  As I kept working on it, the sun got darker and darker and well... I think I've definately lost my mojo and NEED to get away from crafting for a while.  Maybe some fresh ocean air will bring it back?  LOL.  This is the cute FREE digi from D2D if you participated in last week's progressive challenge.  If you didn't get it, you can purchase this in the shop and just enter any card using it and you will get next week's digi free!

Harvest Bounty by Doodle Pantry

Hi and happy Sunday - again!  *Ü*  This is my 2nd post for today, so if ya missed out on my first one, please scroll down a li'l bit.

Summer has just begun, although it's kinda cool out today... in fact it almost feels like Fall (my favorite time of year)!  Am I pushing it a li’l??  LOL – ya, prolly so!  I thought I'd get a jump on making some Fall cards ... and needing to do Christmas ones as well (didja see my li'l ticker up top?) Yikes!  Summer's going to fly by and I won't know what hit me, so I'm really trying to get them done ahead of time this year.

For this card, I followed the TLC challenge on Splitcoast Stampers by watching Beate's video tutorial on Reverse Masking.  Loved it!  Ever since I got into digis I tend to do the easy thing and grab my designer papers.  So it felt good last night to get down-n-dirty with the ink pads and sponges.  BTW... other than the white card base and Marigold layer, (and embellies) the rest is ALL ONE LAYER!!  I used the embossing with Nesties technqiue around my digi, and then did the reverse masking.  Here's a close up, flat view of my card.

Pretty fun although it did take MUCH LONGER to make.  But I like it.  Feels warm and cozy, just like Fall *Ü*

I used the newly released digi set, "Harvest Bounty" from Doodle Pantry!  Also... they have a VERY cute set, Peacock Birdie that will be yours free if you play in the challenge , which is just to use any image from their store!  Only 2 days left though, so hurry!!  There's 15 FREE digis here so you have something to play along with if you don't already have one.  *Ü*

SSCC - Come *Dance* With Me

Happy Sunday everyone!!  I'm finally back with a card to share.  The "lazy days of summer" have definately kicked in for us here and I've been spending more time with my girls and less time crafting and computing... but I do have a couple more cards scheduled for this week.  =)

Today starts a new challenge over at Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenges, and I am your challenge hostess this week *Ü*  The Scripture I chose is 2 Samuel 6:14 "And David was dancing before the LORD with all his might, and David was wearing a linen ephod."  I have written a devotional -- but my thoughts on this verse are kinda long, so I hope you'll hop over to the SSCC Blog to read it and join in the challenge!!  Our sponsor is Designed 2 Delight!!  One player will win $10 to spend at the D2D store *Ü*

What's the challenge you ask?  It's a fun one... Make a card that "moves" (ie. tilt card, slider, pop up, waterfall, accordian card, etc. - LOTS on scs resources)

Can you guess what moves on my card??

I made a TILT card using 2 pennies and a dimension,
so this li'l mouse dances when you tilt the card!!
I used a cute li'l set from our sponsor this week, Designed 2 Delight.  It's called Dancing Mice and comes with another larger mouse with a cute tutu, and a couple sentiments, one of which I used here on the inside of my card.

Hope you'll pop over to join us this week *Ü*

Strawberries by Designed 2 Delight

Hello.   I have a li'l card to share using this week's D2D progressive FREEBIE, "Strawberries."  If played in last weeks challenge, then you were sent this image free. If you didn't play last week, you can purchase the image in the shop and then come join the Progressive Challenge to get next week's free!

EDITED TO ADD:  see, I knew I was missin' something last night when doing up my post!  I used Carly's current sketch challenge at Sketches by Carly!  I turned mine sideways.  We have a wonderful sponsor, McMahon Five Designs and the challenge goes another 10 days, so come on over and play to WIN!!

There's also a Designer's Saturday challenge going on that is European Inspired. It can be shabby chic, Parisian, vintage, romantic, anything evoking Europe! (My card doesn't have anything to do with Europe, I just wanted to let you know about the challenge.)

This is prolly the worst time to be getting sick... but I think I'm there :(  Been feeling really tired and took a nap after work today.  When I woke up I had a sore throat and coughing/sneezing and just drained.  Sure hope I'm over this thing soon as we're leaving for the beach next week!  So, I've got a ton of stuff to get ahead on at work before I go.  Plus... my boss is getting ready to go to Africa for 8 weeks so I've gotta work to get ahead before he leaves too.  Ugh.  I think the stress of it all led to my getting sick today.  Lord help me!!  Okay, done whining, LOL.  Hope you're enjoying your summer!  *Ü*

SSIC – Here’s What Works for Me...

Happy Sunday to you!  Today's challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ is to use what works for you!  Our sponsor this week is Simon Says Stamp who is donating a cute stamp set to one player.  Hop over to the SSIC Blog to see the prize, read an excellent devotional from Rebekka, and be inspired by the Team!

What works for me?   Well, I love Doodle Pantry images and all my cards I make with them come so easy so I would say they definately "work for me" *Ü*

Center Step Card:  "Balloon Ants"

I used the newly released Balloon Ants that comes fully colored with polka-dot digi papers in various colors and lots of great sentiments!

My Cricut is also "workin' for me" right now, so I cut out some cute clouds and then to make em appear fluffy I used the "MYOCF" technique by rubbing (cheap) white styrofoam balls together, except I didn't color it--see how fluffy (and sparkly) they are??  *Ü*  I also love polka-dots, paper peircing, my fence punch, fancy folds and butterflies.

Speaking of butterflies, this also fits the challenge at Flutterby Wednesday who's challenge is just to use a Fairy, Angel, or Butterfly in your creation  *Ü*

Here's a picture of the complete card from the front...

Back to our challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ... our challenge hostess is Rebekka, who shares this verse from James 2:18,19 "But someone will say, You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe and tremble."

Excellent choice of Scripture. God's plan is not simply for us to believe and have faith... it's to then go and be "fruitful"... bearing the fruits of the Spirit... and loving people. As the song goes... "They will know we are Christians by our Love." Please hop over to our challenge blog to read Rebekka's wonderful devotional for this week--you will be blessed!!

Rainbows n' Clouds Are All the Rage

Well I think I just crawled out from under a rock because I hadn't realized just how popular rainbows and clouds are right now!

I recently came across a new company called Li'l Inker Designs and I purchased their cute pinwheel die 'n clear stamp sentiments set.  While I was there, I saw their Rainbows n' Clouds set and oh my goodness... such cute samples too!

Then it hit me... I had this rainbow/heart and clouds on my Create-a-Critter Cricut cartridge!!  Does this look familiar??  I was flipping through my li'l cartridge booklet the other day, and this rainbow n' heart gave me the idea for my new blog header!  So I decided to also make a card using it, although I think I'm still gonna have to get the LID set because you get 2 styles of perforated cloud dies, a whole rainbow and a bigger 4-color rainbow arch die, plus 20 different sentiment stamps!    Go check em out!

Bows and Berries want us to USE KRAFT on our projects,  and Cooking with Cricut is ANYTHING GOES!

OH ... almost forgot, there's a new sketch challenge at SKETCHES BY CARLY today!!  One player will win 3 digis of your choice to spend at the McMahon Five Designs shop!   Thanks for stopping by *Ü*

A Clean & Simple Baby Card

Happy Holiday Weekend to you!!  I don't know about you, but I am thoroughly enjoying this nicer weather!!  My daughter had a not-so-nice oral surgery this last week but is doing much better.  We wanted to get it over with and healed before we leave for our beach vacation in a couple weeks--I'm so excited!  Last year was great going to Disneyland and all, but I really love the ocean and just spending some relaxing time with the fam at the beach so that's our vacation of choice this year.  *Ü*

Speaking of relaxing and slowing down... we've got a new challenge up at Stampin' Sisters in Christ Card Callenges today.
Our hostess is Peggysue and she has a wonderful devotional on this subject.  Slowing down... and spending quality time with God.  You'll want to click thru to read her devotional on the SSIC blog

Scripture:  Psalm 46:10  "Be still and know that I am God."
Challenge:  Make a CAS (Clean & Simple) card

For me, what comes to mind when I read this Scripture is the story of two sisters, and friends of Jesus, Mary & Martha found in Luke 10:38-42.  How Martha, knowing who Jesus was and that He was there for a visit, kept about preparing the meal for this group of people and actually getting upset with Mary because she wasn't helping her.  In fact, Mary was sitting at Jesus' feet and listening to what He had to teach.  (hmmm, reminds me of my daughters when one starts complaining because the other one isn't doing as much work as she is ... or worse, just sits there, watching tv or listening to her MP3 player!)   Of course there's a time and place to be diligent and to work at the daily tasks... and there's a time when we should come into His presence and listen to what our Lord has to teach us (by reading His Word and praying and listening to Him).

I have to admit... there've been plenty of times when I've been a Martha instead of a Mary!  In fact, every time I know that my dad is coming over for a visit, I scramble to clean up the house, and even after he's already here...  I keep picking up the little things because I know what a "clean freak" he is.  I guess part of me worries what he'll think of me if I just sit and are "comfortable" with the way the house is.  But on the flip side... when I go to my parents' house for a meal, it bothers me that he gets up and does the dishes right after we eat instead of just hanging out and visiting with us.  I tell him, "Dad, those can wait, come sit down"... and he doesn't, so we usually get up and help clean up as soon as the meal is over.  What would I do if it was Jesus coming to my house?  The truth is... there are many times when the Lord is calling us ... He wants us to come into His presence and spend quality time with Him.  Are we too busy?

I encourage you to make it a priority this week to spend some quality time with God.  You'll be blessed in doing so!!

My Card Deets:
I used this sweet digi from Designed 2 Delight called "Baby Buggy - Heaven Sent" and colored with Copics.  The white layer is pearlized and has a shimmer and it's dry embossed with ... uuummm, can't remember but it's a Cuttlebug folder!  LOL.  And some li'l green gems in the middle of the spokes (gotta add a li'l bling) and a shiny green ribbon.  Prolly the Simplest card I've ever made!!  =)
I’ll be back tomorrow with something red/white/blue & turtle-y too!  *Ü*
