A {Sweet} Sugar Nellie Sketch

Hi...I'm back!! For a short time anyway. This week's been very hectic with VBS, the Co. Fair, and work, but it's been fun too. Well, I got on the Sugar Nellie bandwagon...just tooo precious to pass up! And I still want to get some of those sweet Magnolias too, but will have to wait til after summer. Anyway, here's my first card made with "Sitting with Bear" that I purchased from Funky Kits. I followed this week's sketch challenge SC186, which worked well with this one, as long as it's permisible to scoot the main layer over ;o) I love paper piecing, especially with clothes, so this little girl will be lots of fun!! I also used my sewing machine to zigzag the edges with cocoa brown thread to match. I wanted to figure out a way to put a rug under the chair, but didn't have time to work with that...maybe the next one. The flower is from SU!'s So Many Scallops set, and the birthday saying is too, but I mixed and matched the two to get the look I wanted. OH, and I used the "Rock-N-Roll" technique on the flower =) LOVE that look!

Well, I've gotta leave in 15 to go back to church for a VBS "Family Night" - Wow, what a week!! Hope to see ya back here soon!

Busy Day and a Baby Shower Card

Today was such a busy day: Made french toast for everyone, made a quick (spiderman) card, checked my email, took the family to the church and worked on decorating for VBS, worked on the sandbox (for vbs) kids sifted the sand for it--in 90 degree weather--and I worked on some craft items for VBS as well. Then we came home, ate lunch, I made this cute onsie card for my neice, helped my kids make some things for the Fair--which all has to be in this Monday!--and now we're cooking dinner and then I'm taking them swimming --well, dropping them off--and I'm going back to the church to help decorate some more. But I'm sure you didn't come here to hear all about my busy day--so I'll get right to the card! lol :) I'm sure you've all seen lots of these onsie cards in blogland and SCS, but this was my first one!! The card base is Pretty in Pink, and then I layered SU!'s designer paper over it for the front. The flower eyelets for snaps were too cute to pass up! And of course I used my SU! scallop circle punch for the legs and neck. The piece in the middle is stamped in versamark and heat embossed in white ep. =) I'm pretty happy with it. I'm sure I'll make more when needed.

Now can someone PLEASE come clean my house for me?

My Spider Senses are Telling Me... deserve an Amazing Birthday! And on the inside, it reads:

Okay, I STILL haven't made the baby shower card--boy I'm a procrastinator, huh? But this is for the 6 yr. old brother of the boy I made the dino card for--their b-days are just 3 days apart. As you can see, he's totally into Spiderman right now! Which lucky for me, there's a ton of "stuff" out there to buy relating.
I went googling for a picture of spiderman to cut out and mount on a web, which also was printed from my computer! In fact, the sentiments are printed as well, but who cares? Certainly not a 6 yr. old!! Lol. SO, the real red layer is cuttlebugged with the tiny bubbles folder and punched with the ticket corner punch (SU!). Spiderman is popped up with thick pops, and so is the sentiment on front of card. Black brads just to help fill in those empty spaces on the sides. What do ya think?
Hey, anyone know where I can find a template for those adorable "onsie" cards everyone's making these days? They are so cute and I'd love to make that for my neice (but I need to get it done today--Saturday) Thanks!

A {DINOmite} Sketch

Well, it's funny how my brain works sometimes. I didn't get my baby card made for tomorrow's shower... I'll probably end up doing it an hour before time to go, but I did use this week's sketch challenge #185 to get this birthday card done today for a soon-to-be 4 yr. old boy's birthday. He's from our church and he lets me know (all the time) that his favorite color is GREEN! So, I hope he likes it.

The stamps are from SU!'s Prehistoric Party set. It's hard to see, but I cuttlebugged the Ruby Red strip with the spots and dots folder (? not sure if that's the act. name for it?) and I also added turq. and yellow stickles on the cake icing and the big dino's teeth. I used my sewing machine to zigzag stitch the striped layer to the light blue and added pewter circle brads.

Wow this week has flown by! Sorry I haven't posted in a few days, but I'm so swamped with getting craft stuff and snacks ready for VBS next week at church, and working part time and watching the girls--OH, and getting things ready for a baby shower tomorrow!

OK, are you ready for this? A little birdie told me about some really FABULOUS blog candy...when you read her post you will sign up immediately I'm sure (if you haven't yet!) GO HERE FOR SOME SUPER DUPER TREATS!!! Trust me, you DON'T want to miss out on this one!

A {Music Man} Sketch 4 U 2 Try

I came across Jen Del Muro's Sketch Challenge for this week and thought I'd try it with one of my Magnolia images. The shiny guitar really shows up well here, huh? I used Crystal Effects all over it. He's on thick pop dots to make him stand away from the background--otherwise he'd get lost in all that plaid! lol. Colors here are Brocade Blue; Bashful Blue; and Kraft cardstock. Oh ya, and I used my long-retired stamp, Music Notes for the right side of the circle, and SU!'s sentiment from Sincere Salutationsset.

Berry Best Birthday and BLOG CANDY

Hello Apple I got some Magnolia images in the mail from the wonderfully talented and very gracious Nikki--(thanks so much for swapping images with me!) This little girl is just too adorable! The dp is just some of the paper I got at our local scrap store with my giftcard (from my work), and so are the chipboard fruit!
Doesn't this remind you of Strawberry shortcake?
I used SU!'s watercolor pencils and an Aqua Painter to color her in and then cut her out and sat her on the ribbon (she needed somewhere to sit didn't she?) with pop dots behind her. The sentiment is from PTI's "My Punny Valentine" set. I cut it out with an oval cutter and framed with ric-rac.

I was too excited for words when my new "Leap Frog" set came in the mail that I won over at Kendra's Blog! These cute stamps are from Storage Units, Ink & More's new release sets for July. You can see all 14 stamps in this set HERE. I used my Karen Foster Snap Stamps to create the sentiment. OH, and I followed last week's sketch challenge (#183) for this card. Emmie-N-Twinkie - Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th everyone! Today was a good day--my whole family walked in the 4th of July parade with our church, dressed in VBS t-shirts, and hula stuffs, and we handed out invitation flyers with candy. The weather was perfect!! It's been close to 100 degrees here lately, but today was 70!! Anway, we BBQed and then played this afternoon. I made this card and later we're heading to my parents for fireworks with the kids. Hope you all had a great day!!

A {Cuddly} Color Challenge

This is Emmy with her kitty, Twinkie!! I made this for today's color challenge: Celery, Wild Wasabi, and Pomegranate. Sorry the picture's kinda dark. I used Wild Wasabi double-sided designer paper and just cut slits and fanned them out to make grass. The girl with the cat and the tree are all on pop dots.

COLORING MY IMAGES: As with ALL my images that need coloring in, I stamp them in black Stazon, and use SU!'s watercolor pencils to color in. Then I go over each part with an Aqua Painter (and dab with a tissue as I go along). Works great!! The tissue helps remove the excess water and helps keep the colors from bleeding outside the lines. I find that coloring with the pencils as opposed to ink refills is better because it keeps my paper dryer. This is just what works for me. Maybe someday {in my wildest dreams} I will be able to afford some copics ; P
