Beate's Sketch Challenge #8

This was a cute sketch. I don't know HOW in the world I came up with this idea for the angel, but it kinda just came together and I like how it turned out.

Her dress is paper pieced with the Pallete O' Prints paper. The rest of the card is also POP, except for the white piece that I stamped her on. The girl is by Whipper Snapper...see link at right.

Large crystal stick-on gems are by Making Memories. I also lightly colored her wings with Amethyst and added Dazzling Diamonds to them.

I ran this through my sewing machine b4 putting girl on. Ok, I lied *gasp* it actually was an after-thought, so I pulled the girl off so I could stitch under her, and my tape is REALLY good stuff, and the gummy stuff stuck to my footer on my sewing machine, Grrr!!! The machine is fairly new, so I have to actually read the manual to figure out how to take the thing off!! Lol...pathetic, I know! Can't believe I'm in my 30's and JUST got my first sewing machine. But I'm loving making cards with it!! Now I'm off to finish laundry.

HEY!! ANYONE UP FOR A WHIPPER SNAPPER SWAP??? I just think these stamps are sooo CUTE, and I've never hosted a swap b4, but I would love to do one. Any of you ladies interested?? How should I go about this, post it on SCS?? Stay tuned!

Mary Campbell, You Won!! BUT WAIT--There's MORE!!

Sunshine Congrats, Mary!! Thanks for emailing me!! :)

I will pick another random commentor on Monday morning for the second blog candy, so you still have time to post a comment!! (not on THIS post)

:) Have a super weekend all!!

OH, and by the way, that newspaper article was made up!! heehee. And YOU can make one up too! They are soo fun for any occasion, just go HERE and try one for yourself!!

Ink Something! Makes the NEWS!!

WOW! My little ol' blog made the News!! :) Heehee. First, Click on the paper to read the larger print. Ok, maybe it's not the best-written article, but uh, well, go here for more info.

I have some good news!! I had 19 of you leave me a comment on the blog candy, and we have a winner!! Mary Campbell, please shoot me an email with your snail mail address and I'll get those 2 sets sent out to you!! By the way, I didn't pick someone based on their blog, or how much they've commented on mine etc., I simply went to Random. Org and had the computer generate a number for was #4. If I don't hear back from Mary in 2 days, then I will pick another winner Monday morning. :)

I have more sets that need to, if you like these next sets, please leave me a comment on this post. If you don't want them, please leave a comment on a different post of mine, Lol!! I'd love to hear from ya either way!!

EDITED: OMGoodness, I JUST about had the biggest hissy fit ever--I'm talking totally outdoing my 2 yr. old (when she WAS two!) I just lost my long saying from my brand new set "Little Lady" from Papertrey Ink. Oh man, my heart was racing so fast. I was cleaning off my desk, ya know, picking out the big stuff and swiping all those little pieces into the trash, and I admit, I still had some stamps to put away too! Anyway, after all was said and done, I went to put my set away and I was missing that long saying. I have one of those clear desk mats under my swivel chair and those clear stamps will stick to it and "disappear" on it, so I got down and searched all over to no avail. FINALLY, I dug thru the trash and found it. JUST A HEADS UP GALS!!! Make sure to put away your clear stamps right after using them to steer clear of my little fiaskal. :)

Out With the Old, IN With the New!!

This is my FIRST CARD made with my new set, Little Lady. I love this set...sooo cute and fun to play with.
My new blog colors inspired me to make a card with them!! :) This is also today's challenge on SCS--to use "scallops" on our card. I used fiskars cloud scissors for the bottom borders and my marvy giga scallop circle punch for the circle.

STAMPS: Little Lady (Papertrey Ink)
COLORS: Apricot Appeal, Pixie Pink; Pink Passion; Certainly Celery; Basic Black.

Now, with the "OUT with the OLD" part of this. I desperately need to do a clean sweep of my craft room, because my niece is coming to stay with us and I need to put the daybed in that room, so in the middle of cleaning it up, I thought I would also grab the sets that rarely to never get used anymore. SORRY--I'm not a demo and do not have brand spanking new stamp sets. These are ones I've used, although some of the stamps in the sets have never been inked. With that said, I'm going to offer them up as blog candy. I will do this in 2 posts. If you like the sets in the following picture, please leave me a comment on this post and tell me what stamp set is your favorite, or one that you bought most recently. :) Then stay tuned for another blog candy in a couple days. You can't beat this...I'm paying for shipping, so I'm basically PAYING YOU to take them off my twisted is that??!! :) So leave me a comment!!

A Fresh New Look...

Whaddaya think?? I'm still trying to figure out what's wrong with my guestbook. Does anyone else have this problem of only 1/2 of it showing up?? What's up with that? Anyway, I switched templates and I'm really loving these colors for summer. Bright and cheery. I hope to get a card done soon. Summer is soo busy!! Well, it's late and I gotta work tomorrow. Leave me a comment if you feel like it. Just a heads up...I'll be going through my craft room soon and I've gotta kinda do a clean sweep of the stamps sets that I never get time to use. So, check back soon for a chance to "win" some.

A little Saturday Inspiration

We were given THIS ARTWORK as inspiration for today's piece. I kinda grabbed the "swirls" and earthy colors for my card. I embossed the butterfly, sentiment, and edges of ruby red layer in gold ep.
Here's the supplies I used:
STAMPS: Butterfly Kisses and Little Lady (Papertrey Ink)
PAPER: DaisyD's from All That Scraps; Ruby Red; Elegant Eggplant; Gold; Vellum
ACCESSORIES: Eggplant grosgrain; square scallop punch; gold brads; gold e.p., versamark; word window punch; ticket corner punch

Anna's Recipe Box

This box actually has a lot of bling on it...although you can't see it well with this picture. I painted the top, all the way down the the gold metal rim (of the lid) with plum scrapbooking paint 2 xs, and then went over that with the decoupage medium. I purchased this "Chloe's Closet" paper thru All That Scraps, as well as the colored rhinestones. I put tiny pink rhinestones in the big light green circles and tiny white rhinestones in all the big dark green ones. I also added a big white one to center of primas and 3 tiny pink ones on the "A". After painting the top plum, I ran some white grosgrain thru my xyron and wrapped around rim and then added a clear rhinestone to each side. It looks better IRL, as I always say :) My camera is not the best. Oh ya, the "A" came from my box of goodies from Starr Mercer, and they come already covered. This one has script writing in white on a light green bg. I sponged the edges with my Color Box apple green to make it stand out more. Thanks for looking!!

Ladybug Kraft Box

As we were checking out of the Suttle Lake Cabin, I was given this large plain Kraft gable box with bottled water and peanuts in it for the trip home. Speaking of home, when I got there, my new Papertrey Ink sets were waiting on our porch--so I put them to good (recycled) use :) This is made with the Little Lady and Butterfly Kisses acrylic sets that I've been oohing and ahhing over.

What's more perfect is that this is just the right size to fit my altered lunch tin that I made into a recipe box for my niece's wedding shower on Saturday!! [picture to come]
:) I do realize that my recipe box does not match my gable box, but I'm sure she won't mind!! At least she can reuse the box. I added a bit of turquoise to the box because her wedding colors are turquoise and silver.

For ink, I used Color Box pigment brush pads in ruby and aqua, and SU! craft pads in white and black. I LOVE how fast the Color Box inks dry and they hold their true color, even on plain ol' kraft brown cardboard :)

The saying on the front of box says, "a happy life is made of little things" from the Little Lady set.

Father's Day Vacation

We left on Father's Day to go camping at Suttle Lake, Oregon. It was gorgeous!! We did get a smidge sunburned, (bad mommy, forgetting the sunscreen!) but we had a blast. That night we went to The Boathouse (restaurant) where they had live music the whole day and an outdoor BBQ-in honor of Father's Day.
Right outside our beautiful cabin we enjoyed blue jays and squirrels, and just across from us was a creek where we saw some ducklings with their momma. I think that was the funnest part of the trip for the girls! The water was gorgeous and we had fun wading in the lake. It was a bit too cold to swim and the waves a little heavy to paddle-boat, but we spent most of the day yesterday at the lake.
We tried to take the girls fishing, but Maddy *freaked out!* at some butterflies and threw a huge tantrum, crying and screaming and the whole bit!! Some boy at school told her butterflies are poisonous!! Calming her down was a huge feat. So I took her back to the cabin while dad and Carly went fishing. While we were waiting for them to come back, Maddy wiggled her 2nd front tooth out!! :) It was almost ready anyhow. That's something she'll remember for a looong time...not the lake, not the beautiful cabin, but that she lost her front tooth there!! :) Good memories. Hope you all had a wonderful Father's Day!!

I saw a Cathy's card over at Crafty Thoughts and thought my husband would love the salmon image (that I don't have), so I asked Cathy if she would stamp a couple images of it and send to me. I made this for my hubby yesterday... He loved it!

THANKS SO MUCH CATHY!! Let me know when I can return the favor. :)

RAK & a New Blogger!

Isn't this the cutest li'l card?? I love these funny monkeys so much! I got this card in the mail from Angie Juda!! She's such a sweet lady...I'm sure you are ALL regulars at her blog "chic n' scratch" by now, but in case you missed it somehow, please CLICK HERE.

I also just came across a blog that I wanted to give a call out to called, "The Stampin' Soldier" by Laura Barefoot. That's right...she's in the Army, she's also a firefighter and EMT as well as a SU! Demonstrator!! Here's a little excerpt from her blog:

"Working in the Army is difficult for me in this area. There are SO many areas that need a bit of color as I'm sure you can imagine, but I just can't alter the world. I'd cover the tanks in paper flowers and patterned paper if they'd let me!"

I just love her blog and I'm sure you will too!! Go check her out and leave a comment or a few!! :)

Sketch Challenge #128

I love the sketch challenge for this week. If you haven't seen it yet, click here. It's soo much fun to do. I added some more stitching...just call me "stitch happy"!! Lol.

After cutting my pieces, I used regular one-sided tape to tape them on the back side. Then I ran the diagonals through the sewing machine and then taped it to the black card base. Watercolored the roses and added some doodling and brads.

STAMPS: Everyday Celebrations; Warm Words
PAPER: Pallete O' Prints; basic black; watercolor c.s.
ACCESSORIES: polka-dot ribbon from Janet's ribbon share; square scallop punch by Marvy; polka-dot and striped brads from Queen & Co. (for my b-day from Janelle); aqua painter; sewing machine; thread

EDITED: Did ya know that when doing this sketch challenge, you end up with enough cut pieces to make 2 cards using same triangles? SO, here's my second card... the same, but different!!

SPAM Commenting

NEWS FLASH!! I haven't been using the "comments moderation" tool lately, but today I have turned it on. I got this message from an "anonymous" source:
"Hey, I recently added a news widget from to my blog. It shows the latest news, and just took a copy and paste to implement. Might interest you too."

It is just a new widget that will put news topics onto your blog. That's fine if you want it, but one message is plenty for them to let me know about it. But this morning, I found 5 or 6 comments on all different cards I've posted with this same message. It's kindof annoying! SO, I believe it to be a computerized "spam" source leaving comments.

HAVE ANY OF YOU GOTTEN THIS?? So, I've decided to once again "moderate" my comments before they are posted. Thanks for understanding.

Charming Girlie

I know this set wasn't very popular, but I don't care what anyone says...SHE'S CUTE!! :) I love this color challenge: Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip, Cameo Coral, and as an optional color: Tempting Turquoise (which I chose not to use).

I stamped her with Stazon on watercolor cardstock and used my Aqua Painter and classic ink (smooshed the lids to get extra pool of ink). I sewed the celery and coral onto the chocolate chip cardstock and then taped it onto the coral base. The scallop circle piece is chocolate chip and I used a white gel pen for the dots. The coral stripey piece in middle is from the Spring Flowers pack (SU! designer paper).

Butterflies Wishes

I dusted off my old set, Bold Butterflies DD for these next two. Stamping on the Kraft cardstock is sooo much fun! I love the subtle look it gives...not so *stark*, but it does need a little white to brighten things up. I used Regal Rose and White Craft ink (SU!) and Color Box pigment brush pad in Apple Green.

For this one, I used Color Box "Aqua", waited for it to dry and then stamped white over it. I also paper pierced the "trail" but it was so subtle that it didn't really show up in the picture, so I went over it with my handy dandy white gel pen (LOVE that thing--it's bailed me out dozens of times!)

Added a prima and glitter brad. The sentiment (on both cards) is from SU!'s "Sincere Salutations" set.

Sunburst Gatefold Card

It's been a long weekend, so I won't write much. I did sew a card--although my type of stitching might be a little much on this one??

Once again, I used my Palette O' Prints as the dp and Rose Red c.s. If you'd like directions for this gatefold card, please see Beate's Tutorial Here.

Thanks for looking, and have a great week!!

I just had THE BEST DAY!! I'm so pumped... STILL!! :) My BIL (brother in law) is a manager(?) & friend of Paul Wright, Christian Musician/Performer. He travels all around the world doing concerts and in fact was on the Caribbean Isles 4 days ago!! If you listen to Christian radio, you've probably heard some of his songs like "Sunrise to Sunset"; "Take This Life"; "Flip Flops", etc. Anyway, my BIL and his wife brought Paul Wright to my daughters' school to perform a private concert for their classes!! IT WAS AWESOME!!

He's soo good with kids. He brought his sound system with various sound affects and accoustics...don't know who was more stoked, the kids or us!! His style is kinda Regae-ish? I'm not very good with categorizing music, but I think his target audience are probably teenagers mostly, although it appeals to the younger (obviously!) and older generations as well... must, since he's heard on the radio! :)

Anyway, here are some pictures, with my lame camera, however when my SIL emails the pics from her camera, I'll replace the pics. If you get a chance to check out his website, do! His story is pretty neat!! I'm kicking myself for not taking the video camera! I had to leave work and go straight to the know how THAT goes...getting ready in the a.m. with 2 little girls to get out the door and me ready for work--the brain wasn't functioning as clearly as it could be :)

Singer 1 The bottom picture is of my BIL, Marvin as he's introducing Paul to the class. I realize without video or sound, this isn't as interesting, but it was sooo FUN and all the kids were laughing and singing along...sooo cool. Have a great weekend!!

Challenges, that is! :) I combined yesterday's color challenge with today's sketch challenge.

COLORS: Ruby Red, Elegant Eggplant, Certainly Celery

You have to look closely at the middle banner to see that I stamped "Celebrate" with black Stazon onto a transparency sheet and attached with the slit punch and brads at the ends. I embossed the butterfly in black ep and colored in with markers for celery and ruby, and the purple I watercolored (because the marker was too dark...I always scribble a bit on scratch paper first to see how dark it is!). Ruby layer is cuttlebugged with Divine Swirls.

Origami FROG Surprise Pop-Out Card

The mouth, eyes and tongue literally pop out at you when you open this. Kinda creepy lookin, huh?? :)

Just a fun variation for a Frogger's Day...uh, I mean "Father's Day" card.

EDITED: Oops, forgot to post the link to the directions!! It's here. Keep in mind that the one they made is with an 8.5x11" sheet of cs and I made it with a 5.5x4.25" so it would fit in a regular size card. Also, their frog is kinda ugly and evil-looking, but I just cuted it up a bit :) HAVE FUN!!

Pallete O' Prints "Friend"

I'm loving my Pallete O' Prints paper I got last month from SU! It's double-sided and cute as can be. I followed sketch challenge #118.

STAMPS: Polka-Dot Posies; Love Without End
PAPER: POP patterned paper; Rose Red; So Saffron; Certainly Celery
ACCESSORIES: scallop scissors, ribbon; paper peircer

Origami Shirt Card

Monday's Challenge: making Origami Shirt cards! These are great for Father's Day cards, masculine birthdays, etc. I started by using a piece of typing paper just for practice. I really like Cambria's tutorial...very easy to follow!!

STAMPS: Lovely As a Tree; Noble Deer; Linen
PAPER: Always Artichoke; Mellow Moss; white typing paper
ACCESSORIES: paper peircer; brads; sponges; textiles cuttlebug folder

FS17: Stamps4funinCA

It's "Featured Stamper" Sunday, and Tosha is sooo deserving to be this week's FS. Her style is just awesome, so if you haven't seen her gorgeous gallery yet, please click here! The challenge each week is to pick just one card in her gallery and recreate it, changing at least 2 things (ie. color combos, stamps, etc).
My thoughts going into her gallery was to choose something that I could showcase as many patterns of my new Pallet O' Prints in one card and still have it look great--not over done! (I'm sending this to a friend who doesn't have the pallet yet, *gasp* and she's even a Demo!! *bigger gasp*, Lol!! So, without further ramblings, here's the link to her card I chose, and this is MY CARD.

STAMPS: Penny Black "Garden Gossip"; Noteworthy (SU!); small oval (Amuse)
CARDSTOCK: Rose Red & Celery patterned paper in SU!'s Pallet O' Prints pack; white
ACCESSORIES: paper peircing; 1/16" hole punch; rose red marker; 3-d hearts and blooms pack by Memory Mates; celery rhinestone brads; Marvy Giga Scallop punch; crystal effects (on ladybug)
