Easy Spinning Penguins Card

Hello happy crafters!  I have a fun button spinner card to share featuring more of those cute penguins!  This card looks very similar to my Ladybug Spinner, and my Easter Wreath Spinners, but this one actually "spins" super well instead of turning it with a wheel... and the mechanism only takes a button and some circle dies!  And here's my card in action...

I used some of the Rainbow Glimmer Paper because the top color blended nicely with the penguin's feet and beak, and it's sparkly like snow!

The snowflakes behind the penguins are die-cut from the Christmas Layers Dies. I did cut some apart and glued to the wheel just behind the penguins - making sure not to let them overhang the inner circle that goes around the button (as that would prevent the wheel from spinning.)

The sentiment was embossed with VersaMark and white e.p. with The Greatest Part of Christmas stamp set, and cut with the Stitched Shapes Dies.

I cut more of Christmas Layers Dies out of the Rainbow Glimmer Paper and added to the inside of my card, along with some thin strips that I cut off from the front layer.  I left the inside blank for hand-written message.

The only parts of my card that were not Stampin' Up!, was the smaller circle die used for the inside of circle and the button.

The idea for my card came from the talented Jennifer McGuire's video from yesterday here

STEPS:
  1. Glue your button to the top layer of your card (this should be fairly smooth ...no die-cuts, images, or dry embossing that would prevent the wheel from spinning smoothly).
  2. Cut (2) circles or other die-cut shapes and glue the back sides together.  This just eliminates rough edges and adds stability to your piece.
  3. Cut a circle out of the middle that is a li'l bit larger than your button.
  4. Place shape over button
  5. Now we need to cover the button!  A good way to do this is to cut a circle shape that is larger than the hole going over your button and stamp or emboss a sentiment, although you can add an image instead
  6. Add a li'l bit of glue on top of your button - be sure you don't go crazy as you don't want it to go anywhere but on the button!  Center your sentiment circle on top of your button.
  7. You can add layers of die-cuts or images to the outter edge of your circle/shape.  Make sure not to add pieces under the sentiment circle.
  8. Decorate the inside of your card if you wish!
