Traveling Christmas Piggy ♡ La-La Land Crafts

It's my turn to host the Tutorial Thursday at La-La Land Crafts and I chose to play in our weekly theme which is to create a Christmas card using non-Christmas images.

The door opens to reveal another sentiment and piggy... and stays closed with a magnet.

PRODUCTS:

PAPER CUTS & SCORING

White Cardstock:
• 7" x 10" and scored along 10" side at 5"
• 4" x 3-1/2" and scored along 3-1/2" side at 1-3/4"
• 1-1/2" x 5" then die cut top with Snowbanks die
• (2) 3/16" x 5" (for house sides)
• Die cut Tall Door
• Die cut roof from the Large Birdhouse Die
• Die cut Three Trees die

Christmas Hodgepodge Paper:
• 4-3/4" x 6"
• Die cut Three trees die

Blue Glittered Cardstock:
• Die cut (2) Leafy vine from Plants & Pots Die

Gold Foil Cardstock:
• Die cut (2) Leafy vine from Plants & Pots die
• Die cut (2) berries from the Stump w/ Twig die
• Die cut (1) arched window from the Tall Door die

• I distressed the top of roof, edges of door and top of snowbank with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Ink
.

•  Adhere patterned paper onto upper center of card. Place the roof at the top and adhere the 2 house side pieces under roof as shown below. Glue roof in place.

• I cut out one of the "December 25" from the following paper in the Christmas Hodgepodge pack

•  I then glued it to another of the papers from the same pack and angled the bottom as shown, then applied to the top left corner of card.

• I glued the Snowbank to the bottom of card.

• Next, I adhered the door frame so the bottom just barely tucks under the snowbank.

• I added a piece of Scor Tape to the back of folded 4" x 3-1/2" piece and added a magnet.  Then I applied glue to cover the back. (In the photo below, the scored line is on the right.)

• I inserted the "door" into the frame and stamped "Have a Cozy Christmas" from the Warm Holidays stamp set.

• I placed the 2nd magnet so that it connects to the one underneath.

• I placed a dot of glue to the magnet and closed the front cover and set a bit of weight until the glue dried.

• I added a small piece of Scor Tape onto magnet. I then stamped, colored and fussy cut the piggy with camera and then added foam dots to the back of him and adhered him over the magnet. **Be sure the foam dots are not on the magnet.

• Next I adhered the Tall Door die cut onto the front and inserted the gold window pieces w/ glue.

•  I cut apart the leafy vines and created a "swag" for the door by overlapping and staggering the vines.  I glued 3 of the gold "berries" from Stump w/ Twig die in a grouping at top of vines, and one for the door handle.

• I cut the middle (largest) tree from the Three Trees die and staggered the white one behind the patterned one, added foam tape and adhered to the left side of house as shown.

• I added some snowflake sequins mix to front.

• I stamped the "Wish you were HERE" from the Deck the Palms stamp set in Vintage Photo D.O. ink to the snowbank.  In hindsight, that would've been easier to stamp before I adhered snowbank to card 😉
