Perpetual Calendar ♡ La-La Land Crafts

Welcome friends!  Today's project is a Perpetual Calendar I made back in January.  I was going to do a tutorial for this back then, took all the photos, but then my tutorial got rescheduled so I wanted to get this posted before we got too far into the year.

I actually made 2 of these - and this was my 2nd one.  The first one I made to give away (and I'll share that one another time) but I also wanted one for my own desk -- something that makes me HAPPY anytime of year, so of course I went with a Rainbow and this Jumping for Joy Marci is so cute☺

*All of the products I used for this project are also listed at the end of my post for easy refererence.

I followed the instructions by Norma here.  She offers some downloadable PDFs of her templates that are super helpful, so you will definitely want to check out her post for those if you'd like to make this!  I did not print them, I just followed her measurements from the pictures and cut everything on my trimmer.

Design Steps

DISPLAY CASE:

1. I cut my white card base at 10-1/4" x 8-3/4".
--- Along the 10-1/4" side I scored at 3" and 7-1/4".
--- I turned it so the 8-3/4" side is along the top and scored at 2-3/4" and then at 4-7/8" JUST to the score lines, skipping the middle 4-1/4" section.
--- Cut out the 2 sections as pictured below, and then cut on your score lines on each side just down to that first 2-3/4" score line as pictured.

2.  *Optional:  Using the Stitched Cloud Border Die, I cut the corner as pictured above just to give more interest (like book ends) to the sides of my display box.

3.  I cut 2 pieces of white cardstock that were 4-1/4" wide (different heights) and die cut the tops of each using the Stitched Cloud Border Die I then popped the shorter one on top of the larger one (using foam tape), far enough down to fit my rainbow in between cloud layers.

4.  I added glue to the section shown below, (and the opposite section) and adhered to the BACK of display case.

It should look similar to this now:

CREATING PLATFORMS:
Creating 2 platforms will help everything tilt backwards so they don't fall out!  Again, I highly suggest viewing Norma's templates as they are very helpful!

1.  For the bottom (green) platform, I cut a piece of cardstock 4-3/16" x 5-1/16"
--- Along the 5-1/16" edge, I scored at 2", 2-1/2", 4-9/16" - fold and burnish and glue the shorter flap over the longer flap.

2.  For the back (blue) platform, I cut a piece of cardstock 4-3/16" x 6-5/8"
--- Along the 6-5/8" edge, I scored at 1/2", 3-1/4", 5-15/16" - fold and burnish and glue and shorter flap over the longer flap.

3.  Glue the blue platform to the back and bottom of display so that the pointy end is at the bottom and wide is at the top.  Glue the green platform to the bottom so the pointy end is towards the back and widest end is in the front.

4.  Die cut the elements for the top of display:

--- Stitched Rainbow Die either in various colors, or cut once and add color with markers or inks and adhere between cloud layers

--- Sun Smiles Die - color with Copics or medium of your choice then glue and tuck behind rainbow as shown

--- Stitched Sun and Clouds die - then pop up with foam tape/dots

--- Garden Gate Die - sponged with some weathered wood distress ink and glued to bottom of cloud layer

--- Grass Patches Die from various green cardstock - glue to bottom of gates

--- Spring Blossoms Small Die from white c.s. then colored with Copics - glue to grass patches

CREATING BLOCK/CUBES:

1.  I followed Norma's template to make (2) 2" block cubes in red and assembled.  ☺

2.  I cut the pieces for decorating my cubes and assembled:
--- cut (12) white squares that are 1-13/16"
--- cut (12) squares that are 1-5/8" from the polka-dot paper (Merry & Bright paper pack)
--- die cut (12) red circles using Stitched Circles die
--- die cut Bold Numbers Die (2 each of #s 0, 1, 2, and 1 each of 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) from pink grid paper (Christmas Cheer Paper Pack)

One block is for the numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. The other block is for the numbers 0, 1, 2, 6, 7 and 8.  The number 6 also serves as the number 9.

CREATING 4-SIDED BARS for MONTHS:

1.  I followed Norma's template to make 3 bars, then decorated them with papers from At the Carnival Paper Pack
--- I stamped all of the months of the year onto white cardstock using the Every Year Calendar Clear Stamp Set using colorful inks and trimmed cardstock
--- I die cut colored c.s. that matched my ink using the Scalloped Sentiment Labels Die (extending or shrinking the die to make it fit each month's name)
--- Adhered to bars

Insert the month blocks into the bottom of display case, then set the number blocks on top:

and done!  ☺
