Side Easel Lilies

Friday is here again and that means it's time for Team Friday to share some inspiration at La-La Land Crafts!  Easel cards have been around for many years, but this one is slightly different and new to me - but super easy to make!  I like the floating focal image on the front - similar to the floating elements on the multi-cube cards I've made.  And isn't Marci with Lilies ADORABLE?!

The next photo shows how the front fits behind the popped up part with the lilies, just like an easel.

For the vase, I die-cut the larger vase out of acetate for a shiny glass look on the outside, then I cut the smaller vase out of vellum and colored it with green Copic marker.  So you can see the patterned paper and the flower stems through the "glass" vase.

Here is the front as you pull it out of the envelope.

The one I saw was a 5"x 7" card, however, since I'm using 6"x 6" paper, I made mine 5" x 6-1/2" and can be put in a 5x7 envelope.

The focal image is on a tab mechanism instead of being glued to half of the card front, which makes it pop out and be centered when the card is in folded position! :)

To make the tab, cut a piece of cardstock 3" x 1" and score at 1/2", 1", 2", and 2-1/2"
Fold like this:

Glue the 2 end tabs and adhere to the sides of the fold in the card front - the fold should be right where the 2 tabs meet when folded flat.

and here's a view from the top.

*NOTE:  If you are mailing to a non-crafter, you might want to insert a photo of your card as it is standing up as easel so they know how to display it!
