King of the Grill

I am still working with the May Release at La-La Land Crafts and I have some Father's Day inspiration for you showcasing the new Nailed It clear stamp set!

I made an apron shaped card with a pocket on front for the new Grill Tools!  I also used the glue die to make my ketchup and mustard bottles :)  I'll show you how I did this.  It was a trial and error situation.

As you can see from my photos, I cut a ring out for the neck hole using 2 circle dies from the Stitched Nested Circle dies set.  And I cut a pocket from the Merry & Bright Paper Pack using the Horizontal Pocket die.

For the card base, I started with a top folding A2 card base.

At first I tried making the shape (where the arm holes would be in a shirt) using large circle dies, but I just couldn't get it to look right.  The top of the bib needs to be more straight.  And I need to use LLLC dies - so....

THEN, I tried using the die from the Double Stitched Hills Border dies
THAT WORKED!

Here's what I did...

I used the die that look like an "S" and started it in the middle of the die where it's straightest and lined that up at the top where I wanted my bib to start and taped with washi tape.

However... to do the opposite side, I had to TURN OVER my card and cut from the back side to get the curve to be the same.  (see next photo)

*** IF YOU USE A LIGHT COLORED CARDSTOCK - you will see that the stitching marks from the die are only going to show on one corner of the front (and back) of card.  I went around the whole thing with white gel pen which distracts from the empty stitching on one corner.  ;)  YES, I am pretty clever, aren't I?!!!  *taking my bow*  LOL!

To make sure they were equal, I took the cut off corner and placed it onto my die to where it followed the curve at just the right spot and taped with washi tape.

Then flipped it onto my card and lined up that corner piece with corner of my card.... taped my die down, and removed the already cut corner.

Ta-Da!!!  Equal corners AND the "bib" looks right!

I then cut out my tools from a silver metalic cardstock as well as white and red - I couldn't decide what colored handles I wanted to use, so I did both.  I also cut out the ketchup and mustard bottles from red and yellow cardstock using the glue die from the Glue and Tape die set, then I cut off the long stem of the glue lid.  :)

I finished up by adding image, sentiment and popping my tools in the pocket and of course added my white gel pen stitch marks all around - for both cuteness and to hide the actual stitch marks from the die that only appears on one corner!

LLLC PRODUTS:

I have another card or two to share later today -- a bench fold card using this same stamp set, different stamp and dies! :) Hope you'll come back to see that - or follow me on Instagram!
