Carly Won National History Contest

Happy Sunday!  I have some "proud mommy" news to share today.  My daughter Carly went to State this weekend with her National History Day presentation and she won 1st place!!  That means she gets to go all the way to Washington D.C. next month (from Oregon) stay in a college dorm and participate in the nation-wide contest.  They'll get to tour the capital and other fun schtuff.

The contest is put on by the Oregon Historical Society, however this event was only for those who participated for at least 2 years in the Oregon History Day contests, and they could choose anything nationwide that represented "Turning Points in History."  Carly worked 6 months on her project, researching, watching videos, she read like 5 big thick books on her subject, "The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire of 1911"

They were judged on their presentation board, research papers, and a personal interview with the judges.  There were 26 total participants from Oregon.  Here's a pic of Carly with her T.A.G. teacher (and keynote speaker for this event) Ms. Lupton.

WAY 2 GO CARLY!!!  We're all so proud of you and your hard work.  Love you *MUAH*
