One More Crochet Penguin Hat

I have one last Christmas pressie hat to share.... another penguin, in turquoise this time.  This is one my daughter Carly requested.  You can find a free pattern for the main hat at Repeat crAfter Me blog.  I used the owl pattern for the base, the snowman pattern for the strings and pom-poms, and I made up the eyes and beak.

Crochet Penguin & Snowman Hats

Good morning my crafty friends!!  Well, most of our snow that we got yesterday has melted away, but the forcast is calling for more later today, woot, woot! We ♥ snow here, especially when it's enough for a stay-at-home-and-make-igloos-or-go-sledding-in-it kind of a day.  And what could be cuter (and warmer!) than a cute crocheted Penguin or Snowman Hat?!!

Yep, I finished these 2 up yesterday with more free patterns from "Repeat crAfter Me."  (don'tcha just love that name?!)
For the penguin hat, I did not actually follow her pattern.  I used her owl hat pattern and then I made the eyes and beak up myself (inspired by some I saw online).

My girls and I have decided to join the "Beanies for Bravery Project"... to crochet green/white beanie hats for the Sandy Hook Elem. survivors (they're hoping to get 600 of them!)  So as soon as our Christmas gifts are done, we'll be starting on those.  If you like to crochet (or make quilt squares) you can join in the efforts as well.  Read all about it HERE.  That's all I have for today!  Thanks for stopping!

Crochet Owl Hats - Free Pattern

Good Sunday morning!!  Today I'm happy to share with you some cutie patootie owl hats I crocheted as Christmas pressies for my niece and nephews' kids!  My daughter Maddy found this free pattern at "Repeat crAfter Me" and I just had to try them *Ü*

I love that she shares instructions for several sizes including Newborn / Toddler / Child / Teen-Adult.  I made the turquoise and green ones in the Toddler/Preschool size and the pink is a Child size.
...it's snowing today!!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Wishing you JOY in the Lord this week.

Fun with the SU! Holiday Ornaments

Happy Monday everyone *Ü*  My friend Lorie Ames has recently returned to selling Stampin' Up! and so I took her up on her  20% off Cyber Monday sale and splurged on this fantasticly fun Holiday Ornaments rubber stamp set and coordinating Dies!    One of the first things I did was Google the set for inspiration so I can quickly mass produce some beauties and Stampin' Anne's card popped out at me.  I tried it in 2 color schemes...

Cherry/Pink Pirouette/Wild Wasabi

and Kraft/Sky/White

For my first one, I made another accordion (honeycomb) element with the big ornament, but I think I'm liking the flat one a bit better as it shows the beautiful detail of the ornament.  Which do you like better??

Another thing I saw when Googling this set was a Youtube Video on how to make this fabby Ornament that is featured on the front of the Holiday Mini Catalog... (minus a couple switcharoos)

and this is the back side of the ornament:

Yes, these are hung outside in our Juniper Tree!  We don't have our Christmas tree up yet, and I wanted some greenery behind my ornament, so there ya go!  Didn't get too sappy!  HA!

To make your own, visit Lorie's SU! website and check out the Holiday Mini Catalog!

Serendipity Stamps' New Challenge Blog

Grab our badge!
Woot, Woot!!  One of my favorite rubber stamps store has now opened a challenge blog!!  Challenges go up twice a month  and then one designer will be selected to display the Serendipity Stamps winner badge, and one lucky winner chosen randomly will receive a $20 discount code off their next SS order!  Now that's worth playing for!

They only have two rules:  1)  to use either a Serendipity stamp or die, and 2) follow the challenge given!

This first challenge is to create a honeycomb or accordion element!

LOVE it!!  You may remember my Apple and Pumpkin accordion cards I made before?

Well this time, I took the Christmas Ornament die and turned it upside down to create a colorful Hot Air Balloon!  I printed the sentiment "Lifting you up in prayer" on my computer.

These honeycomb things are so easy to make.  You just cut/punch out several of the same object (I cut 5, but you can do up to 10 or so using thinner stock or designer paper) then you fold them in half and glue them back to back!  Easy peasy *Ü*  I'm sure I'm not in the running as I was a Guest Designer, but I'm going to keep checking the entries to see what y'all do!  Hop to it and enter to win!!   :)

Happy Birthday, Dad!!

Today's my dad's 68th birthday (hence 'Route 68' instead of 66, ha!)  After trying to find a good SVG of an antique car (my dad loves buying old cars, fixing em up and selling them) I finally found one and the download had expired.  :(  Bummer!   So I printed a picture of a couple antiques in front of a barn.

Card Front:
I used some of the fabby wood paper from McMahon Five Designs on the top part and I created the striped digi paper for the bottom.  The interstate sign I cut using my SCAL.  The swirly deals on the sides are the Island Die from La-La Land Crafts and the Street Lamp on the inside is also from there.

Inside of card:

Dad just also had back surgery on Monday, so prayers for quick healing are appreciated!!

Happy Birthday Dad!!  Love you *Ü*
