SSiC 145 & M5D's New BCA Freebie

Good morning and a blessed Sunday to all my bloggin’ friends out there!  I am hosting this week’s challenge at Stampin’ Sisters in Christ Challenges!

The verse I chose to share is…  "Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."  Psalm 46:10

My challenge for you is to use FLAGS or BANNERS in your creation!

It will make sense how it all ties together if you pop over to our challenge blog and read my devotional *Ü*

Our lovely sponsor this week is Kelly   Little who is donating a gift package (and if I know her enough, it will prolly include some rubber and/or clear stamps!!  One player will win it just for playing along.  *Ü*

I’m sharing a li’l sneak peek of this month’s FREE Cancer Awareness Ribbon Digi from McMahon Five Designs. They release a new freebie on the 25th of each month, so you can hop over there tomorrow to get yours.  Sue started drawing the digis and offering them for free with a condition that women out there will remember to do their self-exams each month to help protect themselves against this disease.  It will be free for one month and then go up for sale for a very minimal amount.  100% of the profits go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Awareness Balloon JPG / PNG

Even though our emphasis is Breast Cancer Awareness, the Ribbon stands for so many other Awareness's.  You can find the July Ribbon colors on the M5D blog starting tomorrow.

I worked in the FLAGS as the li’l trail off the balloon using pieces from the LilyBee Design “Head Over Heals” paper pad, and the clouds were cut out of white felt using Die-Namics from MFT.

I hope you’ll hop over to our challenge blog this week ~ we’d love to see you there!!  And please take time to visit my DT sistahs as well…. they’ve got lots more inspiration to share *Ü*

On a personal Note:

Just wanted to share some awesome news about my kiddos!!  Bragging??  Ok, maybe… but when you have kids and they do something extraordinary… or even just something that makes you realize that by the grace of God, you must have done something right in child rearing and are so thankful for the individuals they are, then you too will want to share it with the world!

First of all, we got their grade reports this week and they both received straight A’s (for 6th & 7th grade.)Way to go girls!!  Also… Our oldest DD Carly was in our newspaper this week for winning the Oregon History Day Contest at her middle school!  She won $125 for First Place, judged by 3 Historians from all over Oregon.  You can see the article online here in The Madras Pioneer.   I’m so proud of her for all the time she put into it over 4 months… many times staying after school.   It’s more than just a display board.  She put together a 3-ring binder full of her correspondence with her resources, a 500 word process paper, & her annotative bibliography.  Such an honor… and a wonderful reward for the hard work put in!!

My youngest DD Maddy performed last night and Friday night at the Central Oregon Dance Theater.  Her area of focus this year is hip hop.  It was really fun to watch.   (sorry I don’t have a good pic yet)

She is also leaving early tomorrow morning for FCA Camp (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) and will be playing volleyball.  They’re going to my alma mater, Northwest Nazarene University in Idaho (7 hr. drive)… first time she’ll be away from home that long w/o parents so she’s expressing a li’l  autonomy which is great!  She raised most of the $250 herself by working in her aunt’s greenhouse on Saturdays and saving her birthday money etc.  She even made some crochet and duct tape creations to sell at school ($1 here, .50 cents there… everything counts!).  I’m sure she’ll have a wonderful week but will miss her.

How is it that each year seems to fly by faster than the year before?  They’ll soon be driving and then graduating!  I have to remember to just enjoy the stage they’re in and enjoy our time together… and of course pray, pray, pray for them as we prepare them to be respectful, responsible young adults in a crazy mixed up world out there!!  :)

Have a wonderful week!!

Baby Congrats, Take #2

Hello again... Tuesdays seem to be my days to post these last few weeks.  I've been kindof on a crafting/blogging break, but trying to work in a project here or there.  Well if you are a regular visitor to IS2, (my blog) this card may look familiar.  I received an email about my first baby card a couple weeks ago from a gal wanting to buy it. And since that particular card was mailed out to a blogging friend, Kim, I made another very similar one in a different color scheme and DP.  So, thought I'd share it here for ya...
I printed this cute Pollycraft digi, (from their mega pack deal) called “Little Star 2” onto Kraft cardstock and colored with my Prisma color pencils.  I decided to add a white gel pen outline to him in hopes to cover up a part where I got the black outline too thick and I think it worked out nicely :)  Gives it a bit of a pop!  :)  The DP is from the DCWV Nursery mat stack.  Sentiment is from a SU! greetings set.  For the inside, I printed the “Superstar 2” in light green in the corner and added a strip of the DP down the left side.  I didn’t take a picture of the inside before I sent it off.  Anyways, Pollycraft Digi Shop is now closed, but you can still find many of her designs at Little Miss Muffet Stamps!  :)

Hope you have a terrific Tuesday *Ü*

Congrats on Your Graduation Ashley

Tomorrow's the last day of school for my kiddos... and a half day at that. They're so excited! I thought I'd take em out for lunch to celebrate. Anywhoo, my neice Ashley graduates H.S. and is on to nursing school in the Fall, woot, woot!! Congrats Ash... we're so proud of you!!

I used Graduation Marci digi with the Hollyhocks and layered 2 of the same butterfly die from the Butterflies set 1, all from La-La Land Crafts! Have you seen their new dies?! They are awesome!! You can find lots more inspiration using these and more at the LLLC Blog and Customer Gallery *Ü*

I won't be around here much in the next week or so as I'm taking a li'l break from DT responsibilities and blogging etc. Just a short break though... will be back on June 24th as I'm hosting the challenge at SSiC that day. Hope you all have a great Father's Day weekend coming up and a fun summer!!

Crocheted Gloves & Duct Tape Flowers

My daughter, Maddy has been trying to create things to sell and earn money for a sports camp this summer.  She had the idea to crochet a finger-less glove the other day with some yarn we had lying around.  She was making up her own pattern but had a li'l trouble with it so we Googled it and found this fun Butterfly pattern that goes in rounds and has a hole for your thumb, so we tried them.  She made the variegated pink one and I made the white one and camo variegated ones.  I accidentally made 2 right hand ones of the camo, so we turned one inside out for the photo *Ü*  We'll make a lefty one next.  These would be great for winter to keep hands warm and still be able to work with your fingers ... (like typing at work!)  She likes them as a stylish accessory though.

Here are some flowers that Maddy made using colored duct tape!!  Sooo cool.  She's even sold some of these at school to her classmates.  Way to go Miss Maddy!!

Welcome to another Sunday morning challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenges.

Our hostess this week is Diane who shares this verse:

Isaiah 40:26

As you can see, I went with STARS… including my paper, the 2 li’l stick pins in the button, and my 2 images!  These images are brand new to me, and I thank my friend Helen for sharing the link to Pollycraft Digital Stamps!  They are having a humongous blow-out closing sale right now.  I took a look at what is included in their mega bundle 114 digis for less than $15 USD!!!  Or you can build your own bundle of 10 or 20 digis for a very minimal cost.  If you love digis, you’ve got to go check em out!  :)

Hop over to our challenge blog to read Diane’s devotional for this week and enter to win!! You'll find lots more inspiration at my sistahs blogs as well...

A Masculine Tri-Shutter Card

Happy first day of June!! Well, my time as Guest Designer for Serendipity Stamps is officially over... boy that flew right by and was so much fun!  It really kicked me into gear and I whipped up 20+ cards in less than 2 months!!  You can see my gallery of Serendipity cards HERE.

But I do have a couple more cards to share using their New Releases for Spring/Summer that I didn’t get posted yet!  With Father's Day is coming up, I decided to try a Tri-Shutter Card using the new sentiment, “We Don’t See Things”… along with the “Glasses & Book” stamp.
Here’s a view from the top:

This paper was from a kit I’ve had and never used because I don’t do masculine cards often. Not too sure I like the grey/silver tire tread pieces?  But the rust colored with the clocks is cool.

I paper pieced the book and then added clear stardust gellyroll pen to highlight the book pages, glasses and clock face and then silver sparkly pen for the alarm bell thingies on top.

I stamped the sentiment on some real wood from McMahon Five Designs & finished with copper brads.

Thanks for stopping by!!  OH… thought I’d leave you with a pic of my youngest who just turned 12 yesterday.  We went with a beach themed cake cause we all can’t wait for our beach vacation!!  :)
