Recoloring Digis in Photoshop

Have you ever had a digi you wish you could change the color of?  Maybe a black sentiment... or even an image that was not one you color in with your markers??   Today I'm going to show you how to quickly change the coloring of your digi (all or even just part of it) in Photoshop in just 3 easy steps.

1)  Bring your image into PS.  (For the sake of this tutorial, I’m using a fabby sewing sentiment from McMahon Five Designs.)  Click the Marquee (select) Tool on your toolbar & select the part of your digi you want to recolor.

2)  Click on IMAGE tab up top > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation

3)  The Hue/Saturation window will open. In the bottom right corner, make sure the COLORIZE box is checked.  Then move the sliders until you get the color you want.  Hit OK.

You’re done!
Here is one where I easily changed each letter of “Patchwork” using the same steps as above.
It’s so quick to do!
I hope this li’l tutorial helped you make more use of your Photoshop software!  :)
You’ll find more PS tutorials of mine HERE.

Hey there, Li'l Lady!!

... LadyBUG that is!!  *Ü*   I just love ladybugs ~ they're cute and they eat the aphids in the garden!
I finally got a card made today!  I turned the sweet li'l Ladybug from The Digi Garden into a sweet paper piecing SVG file!!  She is available in the shop in 3 formats, outline digi, fully colored digi, and svg.  I cut her out using my cricut and SCAL software.  I just think it's fun and takes me back to my childhood when I would go to grandma's and she'd give us paper dolls to play with.

I should have cut her bodice out of black, but wanted the wings to stand out a li'l more so I used grey.  Hmmm, I think black would be better.  Anywhoo... there's also some really cute Buggy sentiments in the shop as well!  I used pink dew drops for her cheeks.  I have a reason for that--it's called "cover-up-your-boo-boo" (I had to tear off the cut-out circles I had glued on cause one was crinkled on one edge.)

On a personal note:
I hope you're all finding ways to stay cool this summer?   Our a/c (actually a big swamp cooler)'s fan broke yesterday when I went to turn the speed to high.  Oiy.  We looked up the part online and just hope it doesn't take too long to get it in.  OH, and our mailbox got whacked night before last, so now we have to go to the P.O. to pick up our mail.  On a GOOD note... we got our remodel done!!  YAY.  Carly's first night in her new room was last night and she loved it.  Oh, so here are some pics...  keep in mind the carpet is a dark teal (looks greyish here) and the walls are between Cool Caribbean and Baha Breeze ... I tend to speak in SU! colors a lot.  We also have shelving to put up etc.

First up is our new hallway between the kitchen on the right and the new bedroom on the left.  This whole area (hallways and new room) was our 2-car garage.
We didn't have blinds on the windows when I took this last night so the light is making the carpet look grey.  it's really a dark pretty teal.
Those blankets are where her bed will go
This one below is prolly the best coloring of the carpet
Here she is!  That dresser was my grandmother's.  She passed away 24 years ago so it was handed down to my mom and now to my daughter.  It has a big mirror to be mounted over the dresser---it’s still in storage, and Yes, the room needs shelving and pictures etc.  You don't get to see all that though, LOL!  ((sorry))  Some things will be left to the imagination!  :)

Don't forget to check out what's new at The Digi Garden!!  We're having a sale right now... Buy 3/Get 1 FREE!

Just for Fun – Pet Rocks out of Clay

So, while I was at work this week, my DD, Maddy (12) who knows her way around a kitchen decided to create some "Pet Rocks" out of clay. She made up the dough and got my icing colors out and went to work. Some turned out to be “One-Eyed Monster Rocks”  but they’re all pretty cute huh?

If your kids want to try it, here's the recipe:

  • 2-1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 cup water
  • food coloring (optional)
For making rocks, you would just leave them out to dry after making them.  But if you want to reuse the clay later, then you would want to store the modeling clay in the refrigerator in a sealed plastic baggie or in a bowl covered with plastic wrap.

Maddy didn't want to use up all my table salt, so (for the darker rocks) she tried Epsom Salts.  It didn't want to dry out and turn lighter color, so I wouldn't suggest using that, lol.  But they're still pretty cute, and it gave her something to do other than housework ;)
Hope you’re having a FUN summer!!  *Ü*

A year and a half ago, my husband and I bought a building permit and set out to turn our garage into a permanent living space … a bedroom for our daughter.  He had to draw up some plans and get them approved before we could do anything.  Once those plans were approved by the head honcho and the inspector came out, we could begin working on it.
Sometimes we get so caught up in what we are planning to do that we don’t have time to even consider what our heavenly “head honcho” (God) has already planned for us.  He gave us a plan to live by… a.k.a. the Bible!  It’s a well thought out plan for His children – for all mankind—and when we read it, meditate on it, and pray about it, His plans become our plans.  When we ignore it and try to do it our own way, it’s like trying to build a house w/o the “plans.”  It will end up a mess!  And so will our lives if we ignore His Words of instruction for us.  God’s plans are for our good… “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  Very comforting to know that our heavenly Father was looking out for us before we were even born.  God is so good!!
For my card I have followed Marilynn’s plan for us…
 Meet Emily!
She’s a new character at The Digi Garden… and there’s lots of of brand new digis in the
Emily Category including Emily’s Farm which I’ve used here for my card.  There’s also a cute sheep!

I’ve teamed up with Saffie to make her super cute drawings into digis and brought them to life by coloring in PS for quick & easy card-making or scrapbooking!  There’s lots more to come in the near future, but in the meantime, here’s a peek at just a few of the new releases now available in the shop!

Keep in mind, all the colored ones also come in outline versions if you want to color yourself :)  Hop on over to the store to see lots more!

Emily's Rainy Day       Emily's Balloon TDG-Elf1-Color-WM
Fuzzy Buzzy Bee  Emily's Garden  TDG-MP3boy-Color-WM  Shaylee  TDG-Princess2-Yellow-WM
There’s also more farm animals coming, more color options for the kids, & some fun scene creations!!  Cute huh??  Come by and check em out!
HeeheeHee… “Cow’s it Goin?’” – that sentiment is from Doodle Pantry.  Too cute!  I pop-dotted everything on this; grass, cow, fence, cloud, girl.  And I cut out a 2nd cow's head and pop-dotted that so I could wrap some twine around his neck.  The great thing about digis is that you can resize them to whatever size you want! *Ü*  I think he needs a li’l bell charm, don't you?
Remember, we’d love to have ya join us at Stampin’ Sisters in Christ this week!
