Red/White/Blue & Christmas Too

Hello everyone and happy Wednesday!!  Have you noticed that Christmas in July seems to be getting earlier??  LOL.  We’re not quite into July YET… but there are tons of challenges this week with a Red, White & Blue color theme!  Designed 2 Delight’s DT challenge this week has that plus an additional/optional challenge of making it Christmas/Winter, so I did all the above, LOL.  (btw… my daughter has been wishing for snow on the 4th of July here in the High Desert since last Christmas! Who knows… maybe her wish will come true (doubtful though hunny!))  *Ü*

This cute li’l girl & mailbox are from the “Sending My Love Kaela” set by D2D.
I usually draw in a smile when there isn’t one but I left it off this time. I dunno... what do you think?  Does she need a mouth?  It'll prolly bug me until I decide to draw one so I prolly will =)   I really enjoy coloring up these images with Copics… I’m getting better at the shading effects I think. *Ü*  The white layer is embossed with snowflakes, and the hearts are embossed with the Swiss Dots folder.  The Maraschino Cherry twine is from The Twinery.

BTW... have you heard??  Faith of Designed 2 Delight has been busy designing some new rubber stamps for Whipper Snapper Designs!!  We're so excited... you can see a few sneak peeks at the D2D CDAC group!!

Okay, back to my card...  I used Carly's current sketch at Sketches by Carly:

Doodle Pantry - Baby Horse

Happy 17th Birthday, Ashley!!

Today is my niece's birthday and I know she likes horses, so I colored up this sweet Baby Horse from Doodle Pantry.   The brown piece on here is some real wood paper from McMahon Five Designs (can't remember which kind of wood it is) and the green piece is double-embossed with Swiss Dots & Floral Fantasy Cuttlebug folders.  I colored the image with my Copics and the butterfly is an actual brooch I had bought at a Rock Hound show that can be taken off the bow and worn.  The Prima flowers can be found at M5D.

Would you like to WIN a free digi of your choice??  We have a new Stock the Pantry challenge and we'd love for you come and join in.  All you need to do is use a doodle pantry image on your card.  If you don't have one,  you'll find many freebies HERE

CHALLENGES ENTERED:

SSIC – Red, White, & Blue ‘Thank You’

Hiya friends!!  Hope you’re having a fun weekend!  We’ve had lots of company- from my 3 aunts from CA on Friday to my sister & niece from WA yesterday & today, to my hubby’s aunt & uncle from Idaho this afternoon.  So lots of fun schtuff goin’ on.  *Ü*

Speaking of sisters, we have new challenge going on at Stampin’ Sisters in Christ Challenges!  Our challenge hostess this week is Miesje who shares this verse:  Galatians 5:1 "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. "  And the challenge is to make a Red, White, and Blue thank you card.  You’ll want to hop over to the SSIC blog to read Miesje’s devotional today!

For my card I used the Berry Pie digi set that’s currently FREE with any purchase!!  However, I digitally removed the blueberries on top of the pie and added some strawberries from the Clear Dollar Stamp set, Little Strawberry to make it fit what I needed.  My SIL gave me some rhubarb & strawberries to make a pie so this is my “thank you” card to her.  The sentiment is from the Juicy Strawberries set from Doodle Pantry, and the digi papers are from the Little Strawberry set.

Hope you’ll come join us in our red/white/blue thank-you challenge at SSIC!!

Sketches by Carly - Purrfectly Sweet Kitty

Carly's got a new sketch up at Sketches by Carly and it goes for 2 weeks!
Everyone who plays and links up will be emailed Carly's newest digi set,

Purrfectly Sweet Kitty
Not bad eh?  She's ONLY 12 yrs. old and I think she draws some totally cute images, so I've been turning her drawings into digis!  Hope you'll come over and play along ... here's the sketch!
You've GOT to go see Carly's card she made!!  She is so creative with her background... looks like suede and all she did was scratch a bone folder into the cs and sponge ove it.  Neat looking and she thought it up all on her own!  I tell ya... she's gonna pass me up pretty quick!  =)

New Releases at McMahon Five Designs

It’s Thursday which means new release day at M5D!  If you missed it last week, we introduced a couple new lines of SVG’s, and have more to share today.  Of course we also have lots of fabby digi releases as well so be sure to hop on over to the M5D BLOG to see ‘em in full and you can Oooh and Aahhh over them all  *Ü*

This Butterfly SVG is so much fun to cut.  I used my SCAL program with my Cricut to cut it in 4 different colors.  I then mix-n-matched them to create not one but four butterflies!  (see pic below)

I used the color combo from this week’s D2D Sat. DT challenge which is PINK & ORANGE plus neutrals.  I know my orange looks red here, but it IS orange!  LOL

Oh wait… I guess I cut it out of five colors but then decided I didn’t really like the peach so I didn’t use it much, LOL!

My next card is actually for Autism Awareness by Solocosmo called Autism Awareness Butterfly SVG
As many as 1 in 110 people have autism, which is more common in guys than girls, according to KidsHealth.Org

And as you can see in the ribbon above, I used the same bright colors for my card.  I didn’t know what sentiment to add so I left it blank.  Here’s a li’l more about the Autism “Puzzle” Ribbon:

“The puzzle pattern of this ribbon reflects the mystery and complexity of autism.
The different colors and shapes represent the diversity of those living with this disorder.  The brightness of the ribbon signals HOPE—Hope through research and increasing awareness in people like you.”
What a neat thing for Solocosmo to create an SVG cutting file of this neat Puzzle Piece Butterfly!  I happen to have an old friend from college who has an autistic son.  She crafts cards as well… so I think she might like this in the mail ;)
Be sure to check out my DT Sisters’ Blogs and be WOWed at their creativity!

New KID on the Way – DP Baby Goat

So my niece is having a boy soon—in fact she started having contractions 2 mo.s early.  They got em stopped and she’s now home on bed rest.  Sure brings back memories as my last one was 6 1/2 weeks early and I too was on bed rest.  Anyways… I made her this card to cheer her up.
This cute Baby Goat is from Doodle Pantry.

Which reminds me…
We have a new Stock the Pantry challenge on the blog and all you need to do is use any image from Doodle Pantry!  Be sure to stop by the store as there are LOTS of fabulous new releases that came out on the 5th… and even some freebies for you to grab!

That’s about all I got for now.  I apologize that I haven’t left blog comments much lately—it’s VBS week and so the kids and I have been pretty busy.  Hope to catch up with you all very soon!!  *Ü*

SSIC – Doodle on Your Card!

Happy Father’s Day to all you who are celebrating that today!!  I invited my mom & dad over for a BBQ after church today and we worked hard all weekend cleaning up so we can relax today and just enjoy the company & weather (fingers crossed).

We have a new challenge up today at Stampin’ Sisters in Christ challenges!  Our hostess is Marilynn who shares this verse:  Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen. (KJV)
Please hop over to the SSIC Blog to read Marilynn’s wonderful devotional!

The CHALLENGE:  Make a card that you doodle on!

Here’s what Marilynn says about her challenge:  My challenge for you is to make a card that shows the “EVIDENCE” that you were the creator by doodling on your card. Here are a few suggestions to get you started: dots, swirls, lines, and faux stitching… I look forward to seeing what you create.
So I took her quite literally by Doodling these cute li’l bears, (inspired by the bears on my bathroom curtain!  LOL).  I changed the boy on top to a girl (since we have 2 daughters) and gave her a fishing pole instead of picking berries.  One of our daughters loves to fish with her daddy, so I thought this was fitting.

I used a Memento Journaling pen and drew them right onto my white cardstock (that’s why the thickness of the lines are not consistent—happens when you are just doodling) and then I colored in with Copics.
To finish it off, I added more doodling (squiggly dashes and dots) around them for a frame.

The “Me & My” is from an older SU! stamp set, and the DAD I cut out using my Cricut.
Let’s see you DOODLE too!!  For inspiration & their deets, check out the girls’ blogs:

Home Sweet Castle by Doodle Pantry

Hello Bloggy peeps!!  Today's my girls' last day of school – a half day  which I believe is filled with "field day" and year-book signing.  And I just realized I have no plan yet for what to do with them the rest of this week while I go to work--YIKES!!!  Some days they'll go to my SIL's to work in her greenhouse, but prolly not yet, as my niece started going into labor 2 months early.  Again--YIKES!

Anywhoo.... I have a fun 3D card to share using a new release set by Doodle Pantry called Little Castle.  You may have seen a sneak peek of this on the DP blog on New Release Day.  Yep… I made several cards for the new release & thought I’d spread em out a bit on my blog.  Below you can see which parts I pop dotted.  I colored this with copics (using the precolored sky) and I drew in the bars and hinges on the castle door.  LOTS of cutting, but I like the results *Ü*
You can see all the newest releases in the shop
and see more samples by the rest of the DT on the Blog.

Sometimes it’s O.K. to Rock the Boat!!

Hello!  I’m so glad summer is here!  Yesterday was so nice out.  We did some outdoorsey stuff like planting & watering flowers, and then BBQed gourmet-marinated chicken for lunch!  Then I went inside to make my card for today.  *Ü*

The Stampin’ Sisters in Christ challenge this week is to create a Father’s Day card, or a card praising our Father in Heaven.  You can hop over to the SSIC blog to read Lisa’s devotional and see all the DT Girls’ cards!

I decided to make a TILT card, hence my post title!  You can find directions to make a TILT card on SCS here.  I combined 2 digi sets, both from Designed 2 Delight, Lakeside Shack & Quiet Sunset, and colored with Copics.  I punched some tiny holes in the boat and around one post and ran some embroidery floss to anchor the boat while allowing it to “rock”.   If you’ve never made one of these, I recommend trying it.  All you need are 2 pennies, a dimensional, and a craft knife!  *Ü*   Thinking this card definitely will go to my hubby next week.  Now to figure out one for my dad!

Hope you’ll come by and play along in our Father’s Day card challenge this week!  One player will win a cute stamp set called Elephant Love from Simon Says Stamp!!

Goin' Buggy with D2D!!

I’m so relieved the weekend is finally here!!  Been a long week—full of fun stuff for my girls this last week of school, but exhausting as well.
Today it’s my turn to host the DT Challenge over at Designed 2 Delight this week and since summer has finally arrived, I thought of all the flowers blooming and what do find where there’s flowers??  BUGS!  So my challenge this week is to use an image with a BUG in it!
There are at least 22 digi sets in the D2D store that includes a cute BUG in them, so if you need one to play in the challenge, check these out!!
You have one week to enter this challenge and one winner will get your choice of any digi from the D2D shop!

My Card Deets:  I used the Caught a Bug set from D2D along with the newest sketch over at Sketches by Carly for this.  It goes for 2 weeks.  Here is the sketch:

Hang in There!

Hello!  Today's card uses another newly released digi set from Doodle Pantry called Plush Panda.  I have several friends who've had a pretty rough time these past couple of weeks, so I thought this li'l guy might cheer them up.

I colored him with Copics, and then layered him onto black c.s. and then some real wood paper and double-sewed it with gold thread.  The black/white baker's twine came from The Twinery. You can see all the new releases from DP right HERE.  And see more card samples on the DT blog HERE.

That's all I've got for today.  Lots going on this week... in fact something every single afternoon and evening with the girls so busy bees are we!!  Catch you another time!!  Hope you are having nice warm weather wherever you are!!

New M5D Releases – Flower of the Month

Today McMahon Five Designs is releasing several new digis including a gorgeous Lily of the Valley set.

This set comes with a frame, a birthday-month sentiment, as well as some Scripture verses and words of comfort for sympathy.  I am loving it.  Sue really did a fabulous job with this set.

I used my oval Spellbinders to cut out the middle of my frame and the ocatagons were perfect for the outter.  I layered with the scallop Octagon Nesties (glued directly behind the digi layer) and then I pop dotted the frame to the sentiment beneath.  The white things sticking out the sides are just Fancy Tags, cut in half and glued under the green sentiment piece.

This would also fit this month’s HOTSPOT CHALLENGE!  It goes the whole month of June, and one player will win $25.00 to spend at the McMahon Five Design Store!!

Pop on over to the DT BLog to see what else is being releases this week and see the rest of the girls’ creations!

D2D Challenge - Paper Piecing

It’s Your Birthday… eat something CUTE!!
Happy Wednesday!!  This is my 2nd post for today, so please scroll down one for my HOTSPOT  post *Ü*
My card here is the one I made for my daughter’s birthday yesterday.  It’s also kinda for the Designed 2 Delight’s DT Challenge this week.  It’s to use paper piecing—which I did.  I used a mini cupcake liner and glued to the bottom of the cupcake.  The 2nd part of our challenge however is to make a Christmas/winter themed card or project—which I totally forgot about when making this.  Anywhoo… if you’d like to join us this week you might win a free digi set of your choice from the D2D store!!  You have until Friday night to enter.  *Ü*
Here’s a close up of my Spring Cupcake.  I layered the icing and candle, popping it up & added Dazzling Diamonds for some SPARKLE.  Sentiment is computer-generated.

New Challenge at the HOTSPOT

“Love is missing someone whenever you’re apart, but somehow feeling warm inside because you’re close in heart.”  -Kay Knudsen

Happy First of June!!  Can’t hardly believe summer’s just around the corner!  My youngest turned 11 yrs. old yesterday and will be graduating 5th grade next week.  I’ve got the girls signed up for some fun classses this summer; dance & drama, in addition to their 4-H club.  I’m looking forward to warmer weather—it’s been a long time comin’!

Today starts a new hot challenge at The Hotspot—where every challenge is inspired by what’s “Hot & Trendy”.  This month’s inspiration are these laser-cut accessories!  So let’s get out the punches, Spellbinders and piercers and have a ball!
For my card, I found some awesome “laser-cut” fancy borders in SVG format so I got out my Cricut and used my SCAL to cut this pretty frame in chocolate chip.  Then I printed the Studio 313 sentiment from the Miss You set, and the bird from the Bird Song set.

You have all month to enter this challenge.  One player will win a $25 Gift Voucher to spend at the McMahon Five Designs Store!!
