Whimsical Cardinals

Have you seen that commercial where a woman sits with this statue of a bird in a hand and the appraiser basically tells the woman "A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush"... and she has this surprised look on her face and says, "Reeeaaaally!"  LOL.  I don't know why I think that's so funny but I laugh every time I see it!  So there's the story behind my sentiment.  Not sure WHO'D I give this to but had fun making it.

The cardinals are this week's freebie from Designed 2 Delight.  Tonight's the deadline to get in your entries and get next week's image FREE so hurry on over to Delightful Inspiration Blog and enter!!

Darling Blondie on Accordian Medallion

Happy Wednesday!! I have another card made with the Darling Marci digi from La-La Land Crafts.  I just love her cute li'l pose.  I tried one of the circle flowers/medallions that I've been seeing, but totally just guessed at how to do it and I think my pleats are a li'l big.  I scored them at 1/2" so it does stick up quite a bit.  This paper is from the Cosmo Cricket "Circa" pad... a bit vintagey and I love it!

You can get her FREE when you spend $50 at La-La Land Crafts, but only through Dec. 31st!!  Then she will be released in our upcoming Valentines Day Collection.  *Ü*

Be sure to hop on over to our LaLa Land Blog to see daily creations by our Design Team!!  You can also enter your creations in the Customer Gallery and be entered to WIN free stamps!  =)

Wishing You the Very Best this Year

Happy Tuesday!!  This week's Going Grey challenge at Scrap-Creations is... NEW YEAR'S!  I used this brand new digi from La-La Land Craft's called "Darling Marci"... isn't she the cutest?!  You can use her for so many ocassions.  You can read more about how to get her HERE.  I'm not sure what this paper is from, I'm thinking it's Memory Box?  I was gifted several loose pages so I'm not certain where it's from.  The  burnt-edge wooden scrolly embellishment is from McMahon Five Designs and was perfect for sitting her on... although a clock would have been nice too.  The Prima roses are also from M5D, and the sentiment is from Doodle Pantry.

Remember for our challenge you can use any vendor's images/papers etc., so I hope you'll come play along with us at Scrap-Creations this week!

Christmas Gift Set

Doodle Pantry Challenge #4:  Something NEW
(can be a new technqiue, new digi or crafting supplies, or a New Year's theme)

Merry Christmas Eve!!  Well, I have to admit this week kinda threw me for a loop, being sick and missing work, (and then working overtime to make up for it before my break) and missing most of my DT postings, and I even had some Christmas cards for friends filled out and ready to mail but didn't get to the post office (or even down my long driveway to put them in the box!)... *Note to self:  Start on Christmas MUCH EARLIER than the week or two before Christmas!!   But Christmas comes but once a year and I simply had to get some things done for it, like this gift set I made for my boss and his wife.  I posted a tutorial on how to "Digi Stamp on Candles" in my yesterday post.

For this set, I used the cute singing birds and sentiment from the "Winter Song Birdies" digi set from Doodle Pantry.

Doodle Pantry's 4th challenge is up!  It's a theme challenge:  Something NEW!  I actually tried a new technique, stamping on candles (This was my first one--I did the tutorial after I made this).  I'm so happy with the way this one turned out.  The colors are vibrant IRL... and I added white glitter to their hats and shawl trim.  This is a flameless, battery-operated candle that came in a set of 3 (varying sizes).  I bought mine at Bi-Mart here but you can also find them online HERE.

Have you been to Doodle Pantry Digital Doodles lately?  I just discovered them last month and am so delighted by Laurie's cute digis.  If you are into digis, you MUST go check them out.  And guess what??  She's having a...
HUGE End of year SALE!!
(*EXCLUDES watermarks and gift certificates)

Fill cart, view cart, scroll to bottom and enter coupon in field
CLICK SUBMIT and watch discount apply. Click Checkout to pay.

So to my bloggy friends who did not get a card from me in the mail... please accept this Christmas wish from me and my family to you and yours:

"A Christmas Prayer for You"

I said a Christmas Prayer for you because the season's near.
I didn't ask for riches but for gifts so much more dear.
I asked for joyful gatherings with your family all around,
and for carols to inspire you with their old familiar sound.

I asked for quiet moments in your heart on Christmas morn,
For a special time to celebrate the Savior who was born.
I asked for friends to send their best that you might know they care;
I asked for peace and love and hope, and I know God heard my prayer.

Merry Christmas!!  ♥

Tutorial - Digi Stamping on Candles

Tis the season for gift giving, and as usual, I found myself in need of a quick but thoughtful gift so I decided to TRY stamping on candles for the first time. Not only that... but to stamp on "fake" candles (the flameless battery-operated kind)... and not only that, but to use digis instead of rubber stamps (because I didn't have "just the right" image in the right size). Much to my surprise... IT WORKS!! It's very much the same technique as traditional stamping on candles,  using tissue paper (the kind you put in gift bags).
First of all, the candle I used here came in a pack of 3, varrying sizes of flameless candles.  Even though they are battery-operated, they are still made of wax and works the same way as a real candle!

Christmas Card Set

Here are some really simple cards that I actually made at work today.  I know... WORK?!  Yep.  I am a church secretary and we just had our 7th annual "Sounds & Tastes of Christmas" program last Saturday night and it was wonderful!  We invite other area pastors to come read a portion of the Christmas story, and invite their churches to bring special music and I alternate them throughout the service.  Then we enjoy a time of fellowship and cookies/punch/coffee etc.  SO... it has been my "thing" to make up thank you's to send all the participating churches and this is what I decided to do this year.

I got the digital paper and image from Doodle Pantry Digital Doodles.  These went really quick because I kept em simple and used the "assembly line" technique.  Was able to make this whole set in about an hour and a half.  There's 3 or 4 basic designs and the rest are duplicates.  I also used raffia (to resemble the hay) and a Martha Stewart punch for snowflakes and dew drops for the centers.  Here are some close-ups of the styles.

BTW... there's LOTS of chances to WIN FREE DIGIS at Doodle Pantry!  They have  bi-weekly challenges on their Blog (5th and the 20th) in which one player will get a $20 Gift Certificate to the DP store, and 3 will win one FREE digi of their choice along with a "Top 3" badge for your blog (only allowed one entry per challenge), and then they also have a monthly challenge in their CDAC forum where 2 or 3 winners will win a FREE DIGI of their choice... all you have to do is upload your DP creations (one allowed per week) and winners will be picked at the end of the month  =)

Hope you're enjoying a wonderful Christmas.  And Terri (from Home Fedral), if you're reading this... THANK YOU for your time and friendliness in getting us all set up!  You're so sweet.  Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!!

SuPeR MaRCi and SuPeR DoG TuFFy

Hello!  Are you having a SuPeR day so far??

It's my day to post for La-La Land Crafts and Super Cupcake Marci was whispering "Sweet cupcakes" in my ear!  Lol.  So I inked her up and her SuPeR dog Tuffy too!  He's not much help though as he keeps eating the cupcakes, so I had to put them up high out of reach!  ;)

I just have to say, I LOVE these stamps!  They are so fun to color and really fun to give for kids' birthdays (and even adults love em!)  Irina and Eric Berry have really done a fabulous job on this new line and I can't wait to see what's coming next!!!  =)  Did you hear the news??  ALL these Marci and Luka stamps are now available as digis or rubber!!  You can buy the digis on the blog and the rubber stamps in the store.  =)

I used this week's SCS sketch 310 for my card and the DP is called DeLovely by Cosmo Cricket (a gift from my sister Kathy... thanks sis!)

For the doggy's cape, I just shrunk the digi of cucake Marci and then printed it onto the DP (taped a piece of Designer paper to a piece of typing paper and ran through my printer) then cut it out and pieced it behind Tuffy.  =)

Okay, well we're off to save the day!!  (There's lots of peeps out there needing cupcakes ya know!!)  *Ü*  Have a SuPeR day!

A Couple of Tags

Good morning!  It's very early here (3:35 a.m.) as I type up this post because we got slammed all of a sudden with fierce rains and woke everyone up.  I keep worrying about our poor doggy out in her doghouse as I looked out the window and its blowing sideways right into it.... she's smart enough to go into the back corner though.  And there's lots of hay to keep her warm.

Anyways... today's another new challenge at Going Grey with Scrap-Creations which is to make it a tag
Our wonderful sponsor this week is The Character Cafe.... and they sent our DT some really cute images to work with!!  Thank you Kendra & Kelly!!  The two images I used on my tags are "Mistletoe Mo" and "Izzy Elf" ... and if you like those, you should check out their website as it's full of various styles of digis in lots of categories too!
Ok, time to go back to bed.  Rain subsided ... and DD went back to bed so maybe we can all sleep again.  Hope you have a great day!

The Laughing Giraffes T-Shirts and Cards

*Warning:  this is a loong post, so if you'd prefer to scroll thru and just peek at the pics, feel free!  ;)

A few weeks ago I put in a request to Faith of Designed 2 Delight for a digi featuring laughing giraffes (remember those?)  The reason being my daughters are in a 4-H club that was going to a competition where they were going to be judged on their team shirts, amongst other things.  Their group came up with the name "The Laughing Giraffes"... so I had the idea of printing a digi onto transfers and ironing them on to T-shirts!  Faith was a sweetheart and drew these super cute giraffes.   Thank you Faith!!
Another shout out goes to Shawne of Studio 313 who colored up these cute giaffes in photoshop for me as I was having trouble with that part.  I've seen how she digitally colors her digis and they turn out so beautifully!  So, once again...thank you so much Shawne!!  *Ü*

I gave these cuties santa hats and added some Word Art, then printed several to make these simple Christmas cards for all the 4-H leaders/coaches and the boys' team.

Now the Part about the T-Shirts:
Good News/Bad News.  Let's do the Bad news first.  Communication between myself, daughter and her 4-H leader got disheveled and while I was printing the transfers, he had sent in the outline (non-colored in) version to the T-shirt place to have them printed up.  EEEK!  Good News... is that they still turned out really cute and the girls were so happy with them!

And here's the colored version that Shawne colored and I ironed on.
Sorry the picture's a li'l burry. Don't ask about that big KNOB on her shirt corner... must be a "fashion" thing. They're all wearing their shirts like that these days. (???) LOL!

More than most of you will ever want to know:

The 4-H club is called S.T.E.M. which stands for Science, Technology, Electronics, and Math. They learn things like Geo Caching, how to build robots and program them with computers, how windmills work and they recreate them, and for last year's Fair project, they each made their own rockets and set them off at fair. Carly's got "Best of Show" and went to State Fair and got 1st place there. (sorry to gloat, just a proud mama!)

The competition that they went to was the FLL (First Lego League) in which they compete with a robot that they build themselves and program it to do as many obstacles on a huge mat as possible. It's just one part of their club events throughout the year. It's an all-day competition, 8-5, but only compete 4 times thoughout the day: they have only 1 min. for ea. of the 3 obstacle competitions, and then they have 5 min. to do a presentation based on teamwork. They have to come up with a problem and a solution for it. This year's theme had to do with the body. They are judged on teamwork, presentation, and content. Their presentation was about OsteoArthritis (in the foot) and their answer to help aleviate the problem was "The Springy".... a shoe with big springs between the shoe and another sole. They had a big presentation board and a replica of the Springy shoe. (don't ask! LOL. Guess you had to be there)

The Whole Gang
Girls Team = The Laughing Giraffes
Boys Team = The Lego Muskateers

Bet your asking "How'd They DO?"
Well, the girls didn't place in the top ranks to get a trophy, but they still had lots of fun and it was a good learning experience.  Part of the problem they ran into was a couple weeks before competition they had to totally rebuild their bot, which meant starting over on the programming too.  I'm very proud of them for sticking with it and following through.  Great job girls!!  *Ü*

And the boys got first reserve champion trophy (out of 12 teams in Central Oregon)... good job guys!!  Keep up the great work!!

Hope Your Birthday is Legendary

It's Thursday and that means it's New Digi Release Day at McMahon Five Designs!!  My card features this cute dragon set called "Dragon Heart" from Studio 313...
