SSCC2: To My Hubby

This card is for our Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge #2, which was posted this morning!

The scripture for this challenge is:
I am my Lover's and my Lover is mine; he browses among the lilies. Song of Solomon 6:3

and the challenge issued was:
Make a card/project for you husband/significant other OR if you are single, then for someone you care a lot for. You could use hearts, go with a lily theme, but something he/she would like :o)

I made my card for my DH [darling husband] because we sooo need a date w/o the kids soon! It's been months, seriously. I think he will like this card because I made it for him, and also because he will appreciate that I'm setting up a date night soon! Thanks for this li'l push Lorie! :0)

Come see what the other Design Sisters have made and see who this week's sponsor is! You will have until Saturday, Sept. 5 to get your entries in for challenge #2 and if you upload to SCS or other galleries, please use SSCC2. Thanks and hope to see you over at Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge Blog!

You Make Me Happy

A sigh of relief... I survived yet another school-shopping day! And I actually got a card made too! I want to thank Kelly for sending me this adorable Tilda with Bike!! And as you can see I have a few new toys to play with as well... this EK border punch and my new Labels 6 Nesties!

I found this cute sketch over at Friday Sketchers. It's an older one, not this week's, but it totally worked for this Tilda, and I'm loving the outcome. I know what some of you are thinking..."she sure makes a lot of PINK cards!" Lol. Yes, I do... and I'm not sure why really, except for the fact that I LOVE this Lemonade paper by Basic Grey! I've actually always loved pink but since I have redish hair I was told I couldn't wear pink growing up, hmmmm! :o) Anyway...
Have you been following the KLSNS Blog? Did you know that we (DT) post every single day?! (or close to it, heehee) Lots of inspiration going on over there, but I haven't been seeing the love coming in. :( Most of the comments are from some of our own DT but we'd LOVE to see you visit and hear what you're thinkin'!! So please come on over and leave some "LUV"~

There's also some great sales going on, some clearances, and some NEW stamps like Magnolia's Lazy Days of Summer and Inkadinkado Kid Quotes!! August coupon code, Aug2009 is good for FREE priority shipping on your (USA) order of $50 or more!

Family Fun

No cards to show... today was just too nice a day to stay indoors. My hubby took today and tomorrow off work so we can have some family fun at the lake before school starts back up! Here are my girls tubing. It was lots of fun! We even saw about 6 wild horses come down to the lake for a drink. I also tried the tubing, however that didn't work out so well as there is a vent in the bottom of the coverlet and the whole thing ended up under water before the boat even started to go anywhere! LOL. Yup... it's a good thing I have a good sense of humor!! (eh-em... we won't show you those photos though! LOL)

Paper Pretties Challenge #66

CoMe On aNd Do ThE HuLa!
The challenge (PWC66) over at Paper Pretties this week is a FUN color challenge: Black, Green, and a Mystery Color of your choice! =0) So my "mystery color" was orange. I've been itchin' to make a fall card lately, although my choice of stamp isn't necessarily a Fall one! OH WELL!! lol

This is my first time inking up my SOTM club stamp, Aloha from Paper Pretties, and I really LOVED Charmaine's tutorial on how to create a "swinging" skirt (aka. "Tilt Card") This is much like the slider cards that you create with 2 pennies and a dimensional inbetween. OK, so my skirt REALLY moves!! Maybe a li'l too much, but that's what makes it fun I guess! :)
Here's a picture of the underside of the hula girl. You can see that the top layer of skirt is attached to the top penny, and then there's 2 small round dimensionals stacked and then another penny on the bottom.
And, by the way, that looks like a huge stack of dimensionals right there on the left... it's not! It's only 2 stacked together =0) Thanks for looking! My sister Kathy made one TOO! we are posting at the same time on our blogs to see if we chose the same "mystery color" ...heehee. Go check out hers to see if we did!

For my card, I used the "Hello Sunshine" paper pack from Cosmo Crickett! I'm in love with this paper. Happy Friday!! I'm so glad it's the's been such a long HOT week here in Central Oregon. Not that it's going to cool off anytime this weekend?! Pffft! Pink N Red Overload!

PaPeR PiEciNg
Stamps: Angelica's Daydream (Inky Impressions rubber stamps); Wonderful (SU!)
Paper: Bittersweet (Basic Grey); Pretty in Pink (SU!)
Accessories: Branch and flower punches (Martha Stewart); stitched ribbon (SU!)

Happy Wednesday!! It's time for an Inky Impressions challenge: Paper Piecing! I don't know what happened here... but if I didn't know better I'd say that PiNk and ReD exploded all over this card! It wasn't my intension to go quite so PINK! :oP You prolly can't even tell that I paper pieced her sweater and socks, but I did! I used the same DP that is the light pink with the hearts, and then I colored some of her hearts dark red.

OK, I SOOO need a little fairy on my shoulder telling me "STEP AWAY FROM THE PINK" next time I even think about reaching for these again, LOL! Oh, they ARE pretty papers, but my I think I need to go do a plain ol' white card now, HA! Oh well... sometimes cards end up NoT how we intend and that's okay. It actually looks better and more 3D in real life. Ok... I'm just trying to talk myself out of how PINK this really is! LOL.

SOOOO...just a head's up girls!! Inky Impressions is having a Big Release and these new stamps are super duper CUTE!! I can't wait to show you, but you won't have to wait much longer as we are going to have a blog hop soon!! So stay tuned for that. In the meantime, how about checking out what the other Inspirational Inkettes have Pieced for you!!

WOWIE! This is Awesome!!

Just a Quick Shout Out for my friend Lisa! LOOK what happened to HER!! Oh my goodness... we were scared at first, but once I clicked through to the link I was sooo thrilled to see her featured! CONGRATULATIONS LISA!!!

EDITED: Oh, and yes...I should add that I am the very proud owner of that amazing card! She wrote inside that it was her and I on the card--looks "JUST LIKE US!" =0) thanks again Lisa!! You are soo sweet.

Stampin' Sisters in Christ CHALLENGES

Join our Sister Challenges!

Today's the day that we are starting our NEW Challenge Blog! Each challenge will be inspired by scripture, and is open to everyone! This week we have a fabulous stamp set donated by Our Daily Bread Designs, that will be given away to one random player, so please come follow us and jump in to the challenge!!! (please check out the blog for ALL the deets and to see what our Design Team created!)

Lisa is our hostess this week, and has chosen John 6:35, which says "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry; and he who believes in me will never be thirsty." Her challenge: Use images of food or drink on your project. You do not have to make it a religious card, although please feel free to do so.

ABOUT MY CARD: Well, I don't have much in the way of food stamps, but I found this House Mouse image in my "Image RAK box." After watercoloring my image, I covered the popsicle with Crystal Effects for that "wet" look, and also used it on their eyes, noses, and the li'l guy's tongue as well. =0)

For the li'l mousey's ear and the popsicle stick, I followed Rachel Jakes' Out of the Frame tutorial to cut around those parts that would stick out and then slid my Nestie frame under it and then ran it through my cuttlebug. The blue layer was then put on another white layer. The DP and flower brad is from the Lemonade Collection by Basic Grey and the little dew drops are from Jacksonbelle Embellishments.

I hope you'll play along too! I'd love to see what you eat! OH, I mean MAKE! :) Join us at the SSC Challenge blog!

Swinging Tilda

Today's my day to host the KL Stampin' N Scrappin' Blog!! You should SEE what fabulous cards the DT have been making this week!! I love visiting and seeing such cute cards and projects! OH, and in case you missed it, Jessica also posted a FANTASTIC tutorial over there this week... GO CHECK IT OUT!! :)
These are some of my favorite stamps, so I wanted to bring them back and share them with you today. :) How nice of me, huh?! LOL - no, they really aren't that old, but it feels like a long time since I've used them. I LOVE this Basic Grey paper from the Lemonade collection, and the brads are also from the same collection.

I've run into a bit of a stamper's crisis as I ran out of tape 2 days ago, and I'm also out of a lot of colored cardstock that goes with my new paper so I'm having to compromise. This whole card was put together with ultra thin mini glue dots and what's left over of the dimensionals after the dimensionals are all gone, lol. I ordered more tape over a week ago but it still hasn't come and the closest craft store is about 70+ miles away, so... I'll have to make do til it comes! (poor me, I know... I'm done complaining now!!) =0)

Just a reminder that KL Stampin' N Scrappin' has a BUNCH of new Magnolias, Basic Greys, Inkadinkado stamps and MORE in the store (some are preorder, and some are available now!) PLUS...she's got a LOT of the "'Oldies but Goodies" Magnolias discounted up to 35% OFF!! Coupon code for this month is AUG2009... get FREE priority shipping when you spend $50 or more!
Tomorrow is our New Challenge Kick Off at "Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenges" - and there will be a fabulous prize for one random player, so hope you'll come follow us!! :)

Inky Wednesday Challenge

Today's challenge at Inky Impressions is to create a tag card or use a tag on your card, and I have some exciting news!! EVERYONE can play along this week and be entered to win a $10 GC to Inky Impressions Rubber Stamps!! Nicole is kindly offering a FREE DIGISTAMP for you to print out and color and use on your "TAG" card! Then you'll need to use Mr. Linky on the challenge blog to link your card. :) Awesome huh? Hope you'll come play along!

I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch for just seemed to tie right in :) The layer that LiLi's birthday cake is on is actually a pocket with the tag inside. I sewed 3 sides on the machine, and then the top ribbon loop is attached to the tag (in between the 2 layers).
BACK OF TAG: "Hope you have a fun birthday with the people you love and hope all your wishes come true!"

There's lots more inspiration from our Inkettes over on the challenge blog today... go check 'em out!
