My Sister...My Friend!

YAY, I'm so glad to have my sister back online and stamping again!! I recently sent her the sketch challenges from SCS (212 of them!) and it was her idea to randomly pick one sketch that both of us with do and post on our blogs--just a "sister" challenge :) I ♥ doing this Kathy! Anyway, we let Random.Org pick our sketch today and it was #95. Here's my version, using my new Basic Grey-Two Scoops paper, Nestabilities-Labels 2, and my Martha Stewart punched butterflies. The saying is actually a sticker! You can see my sister's card HERE. Go leave her some luv!!

Olivia's Birdies and Blog Candy

Happy Saturday, everyone!! I'm so glad it's finally the weekend, are you? My girls' band is coming over to practice for a couple hours this morning, and then we get to go to Awana to help the kids "build" their cars to race. They give awards for the 3 fastest ones, but also for the most creative ones. I should dig up a picture to show you... my girls got 1st and 2nd on most creative cars 2 yrs. ago. Carly's was a lady bug and Maddy's was a pencil car :) This year, Carly wants to do a space shuttle car, using half on one of those clear plastic containers that you get out of a vending toy machine--should be interesting! Not sure what Maddy's planning this year? I'll let ya know after tomorrow!

Onto my card: "See, I don't just make Magnolias!" LOL... although they R some of my faves, but this one is Olivia from the C.C. Designs stamp set, "Olivia's Birdies." I also used the "Scenery" set for clouds. It's been a while since I've used this set, and I'm so glad I did as it just made me happy creating with it...esp. with those cute birds! I used the Label 2 Nesties to cut the stamped layer and coral mat. Ok, now onto the goodies...

BLOG CANDY TIME!! Kelly (of KL Stampin N Scrappin Store) is offering this yummy blog candy over on our DT blog! It's really easy to enter, so please take a minute to click on the photo and enter! You have until next Saturday, Feb. 7th. and be sure to tell her I sent ya! Good Luck everyone!!

Hope you get time to "Ink Something!" Have a great weekend.

Simple White - Button Crazy

Just gotta say that 1-layer white cards are not my specialty! lol - However, I like how this one turned out! I used the Plaid background stamp from QKD (that will be released Feb. 4th) for these flowers, and used my scalloped cuttlebug dies to cut them out. I hope you'll join us for the Release party next Wednesday, Feb. 4 for some FUN challenges (I'll be hosting one of them!) stamp sneek peeks, and prizes!!

Sorry so short, but I'm heading out the door for work right now. Have a great day!!

It's Not Another Valentine...

...nope nope nope--it's an anniversary card! ; )
I needed a special card for a 40th wedding anniversary tomorrow (not mine...I've only been married 12 yrs), and I knew I wanted to use my brand new kissing Magnolias, along with the Basic Grey Bittersweet paper. Then I thought of all these really cute cards I've been seeing using heart-shaped doilies! So, I made a quick stop into the dollar store but all they had in hearts were way to huge for a card. So, I got a pack (of 90) of these scallopy circle ones. So, instead of using my large heart cutters like I'd planned to, I'd use the flower shape so it'll match the doily. The chipboard heart is from my Basic Grey Bittersweet card kit. Perfect! I added some rub ons to the heart, sponged the edges of my scallop circle and the doily. The little gold charm says "made with love" and was a gift from Sugar Nellie a while back. The chocolate and caramel ribbons are satin although the picture didn't capture the shine on them :( and the burgundy is grosgrain. Here's a pic of the inside before I wrote in it:

(Sorry if you don't like reading how I do my cards--I know some people hate that, but I don't like taking the time to write out a recipe on every post.)

I don't ya think I got enough pink on this card? (lol) I got my new Basic Grey "Bittersweet" paper packs yesterday. I'm sending a couple of pads to my sister along with some stamped Magnolia images, so this card is for her. I machine stitched the edges in chocolate brown...don't look too close! I had to actually stitch the heart 3x. Thank goodness for my "seam ripper"! I used this sketch challenge from Taylor's Cupcake Anniversary challenge.

Ya know, I just found a heart doily I made a couple years ago and I'm thinking...people actually crochet flowers to sell in card making...why don't I make some? SO... I think I'll try that. Although, most patterns I have are for doilies and afghans so not sure if I'm talented enough to figure out how to finish off a little flower. Anyone know of some online instructions or a pattern they can give me? :)

***Before I go, I want to say "Thank You" all for your sweet comments about my daughter's hamster--she will be missed. I showed Carly your comments and we're feelin' the love, so thank you! You guys are great!

One more thing...I'd like to invite you all to come visit the KL Stampin N Scrappin Girls over at Paper Craft Planet! We're having our own little challenge going on with a free Magnolia up for grabs, or you can come and just chat with us!

Goodbye, Lilly

My daughter's hamster, Lilly passed away yesterday. She was only 8 months old and was very well taken care of (spoiled) but regardless, she curled up in the corner and went to sleep forever. *sniff sniff*
Lilly was the better of the two hammies, as she never pottied in the exercise ball, and she was funner to watch...climbing her cage and going across the top like monkey bars! My daughter handled it pretty well, although she did shed a few tears, but she didn't want to go with dad to burry her. I told her "these things happen, honey...especially with small animals" - we knew when we bought them they'd only last "2-3 years"---just too bad she didn't even last one year. This is not a picture of a "dead" hammy, this was just her napping a couple months ago. Just look at those adorable tiny pink paws...
Goodbye sweet Lilly!!

Tilda with Hearts

Woohoo!! New stamps in the house!! I got my first order of Magnolias from KLSNS today, so here is my first card with "Tilda with Hearts." This is also for Kelly's challenge over at PCP...and everyone's invited to come play!! She's offering a free Magnolia stamp as a prize. More good news...more Magnolias are being added to the store this month, and are available for pre-order starting the first of February! If you love Magnolias, and I know you do--you can see them HERE.

I got this sketch from Saturday Sketch #32 except right after I found it, my dd came and used the computer and I didn't remember that there was a flower/embellishment on all four corners, but oh well. The hearts in her apron have crystal effects, so they're puffy and shiny. The ribbon is a gift from Kelly L. and she's thinking of carrying it in the store--what do ya think? I ♥ it! You'd have to feel's thin and so easy to tie etc. So, yes, Kel...I definately think you should carry it, lol!! Oh ya...everything that looks black in this photo (ie. scallop corners, mat layer and the ribbon are actually brown, it just photographed dark. That's about it! Hope you all come visit our PCP group! (ya think I added enough links in this post? lol)

OH YA...just a reminder, if you visit the Home Page at the store and register (if you haven't already) you will get a newsletter that includes monthly sales codes in it!! You don't want to miss out on THAT, do you?!! : )

Super Duper Giveaway

I just hopped over to "Tales from Pollycraft" and saw the most awesome new stamp line coming out--a set of 9 stamps, and she's GIVING THEM AWAY, as well as a cute oval tin to put them in. Hop on over and enter to win!!

Happy Heart Day

It's almost Friday...YAY!! What a week! First I'll tell ya about the card...
I made this for KL Stampin N Scrappin Girls' first challenge!! We've got a group now over at PCP and are inviting anyone and everyone to come join, and play along!! :) There's a FREE Magnolia stamp up for a prize, I hope you will all come play! The challenge is pretty create a card with a Heart and a Magnolia stamp (if you have one). That's it! Hope to see you over there!!
And now... on a personal note, I went through some of my 8mm tapes for my camcorder trying to find the one from 2 years ago when my 6 & 8 year old girls did a ballet dance at the county fair, and I found that I [accidentally] taped over it!! There's about 20 seconds (if that) of them in their pretty peach costumes off stage before going on and then it jumps to backyard playing---OH, I'm sooo kicking myself right now! *sigh*
Here's a picture of them. They danced with the other 8 girls for their recital, but for the fair, they changed it up just a little and they danced in front of the whole county, just the two of them. It was to Candle on the water (from Pete's Dragon). Beautiful song. Wish I could show you the video :(

Sweet as Cherry Pie

This is a set called "Ms. Piggy" from Queen Kat Designs, and it's 45% OFF right now!! I'm having fun creating with her. My daughter says she looks like a with the ballerina shoes, maybe this would pass for a tooth fairy?! My colors look off in this picture...they really do match better IRL, and when I get some sunshine, I'll prolly retake this picture outside =) Ciao for now!!

Come Join Us!

Happy Wednesday everyone! Kelly of KL Stampin N Scrappin Store has started a group over at Paper Craft Planet yesterday, and has just posted a challenge! Come join us--there's a FREE Magnolia up for grabs!! :)

Sweet Tilda with Rose

I was inspired to create a [non-traditional] shaped card today, and what better shape to go with this Tilda than a flower?! This Magnolia is called, "Tilda with Rose" ... isn't she sweet? I love coloring her, although I had to use a flash (since it's evening) and it kindof washed her out a bit.

I used pop dots to make her stand out from the (Swiss Dots) cuttlebugged Blush layer and the Regal Rose layer is also popped off the floral page. The paper here is from the DCWV Glitter stack (just because I don't have my Basic Grey yet *wink*)... it seemed to go with my flower shape pretty well. Remember, you can get Tilda with Rose at KL S&S Store through the end of January at 10% off plus free shipping!

(Keep in mind these are pre-orders only, so if you go to order and there's no "add to cart" button, you can email Kelly which ones you want and she'll get it put on her next outgoing order, or you can keep checking back on the site. She'll be placing orders twice a month.)
Happy Stamping!!

Sittin' and Thinkin' of You!

It's like this chair was MADE for Tilda!! But it's actually from Alotta Rubber Stamps. It's full of dimension too. I stamped it onto cool caribbean cardstock, then onto my Basic Grey dp. Then I just started cutting apart pieces and pop dotting them onto the blue piece. Then for Tilda, I taped her hands and bum-bum directly to the chair, and stuck a thick pop dot behind her back so she's sitting forward in her chair. (see picture below).

For the rug, I used both SU! ovals and punched the light pink out of cuttlebugged c.s. and the Regal Rose just plain. Then I cut slits in the larger one and then rustled the "fringe". Her wings has yellow stickles on them--gotta get more colors of that stuff!! Right now I only have turquoise and yellow. Wish we had a craft store here. Here's a picture of the card laying flat.
OH YA... I started out using this week's sketch challenge on SCS, and it's pretty darn close... except I couldn't fit the other "embellie" on the bottom left corner like the sketch. OH WELL... I like how it turned out anyways! :)
Just a reminder...although KL Stampin N Scrappin Store doesn't carry this particular Magnolia, she does carry several others that are waaay CUTE!! Since she is a starter store, all orders are "pre-orders" at this time. She will place orders twice a month, and if you go to the website and find that there's not an "add to cart" button... that means those have already been ordered. GOOD NEWS!! Just send her an email and let her know what you'd like and she'll get it ordered the next go around. All Magnolias are 10% OFF through the end of January, PLUS free shipping. Use MAGFREE code when checking out. Thanks!!

Wednesday, January 14, 2009

I made a box! This is such an easy box to make... the inside actual box part doesn't even require glue or tape...just folding! Then for the cover, I used my red sticky tape to adhere the dp to the lightweight matboard. You can find the instructions for these cuties HERE.
(I made their eyes puffy with Crystal Effects! Stick-on gems in dark red and pink adorn the bottom edge of the top cover.)
Maybe it needs a saying on that blank space on the front, but wasn't sure what I was going to end up doing with this box, so I can add that later.
Have fun! If you make one, please upload it to the TLC203 gallery on SCS so we can see what everybody made! :)

A Li'l Entertainment for You Today

Here's a little video of my girls [and their older cousin Ashley] performing in the Talent Contest at our county fair last summer. They are dancing to Paul Wright's song, Root Down. Paul is a Christian musician and friend of my BIL. He surprised the girls by showing up to watch... and the girls surprised him by dancing to his song.

Nope, we are NOT closing... I've just gone bonkers!! Get it while it's here! :) You never know what's coming next!! Happy shopping! (Sale ends 12:01 AM EST Monday, Jan 19th) "

Pretty Awards

Hi everyone! It's been a very unproductive day for me here at Ink Something...which is kindof ironic, considering my blog title--I haven't "inked" anything for a few days now. But I have received a couple blogger awards that I thought I should post...not to flaunt them by any means, but, ya honor those who were so gracious to pass them onto me! :P This first one is from my new friend over on the Queen Kat Designs Design Team, Ashley. She's a real sweetie, and it's a pleasure work with her over there. THANK YOU ASHLEY!!
and this second one I received from 2 bloggers; Lorie and my SBS4 sister, Chris. THANKS SO MUCH ladies!! With this one, we are to list 5 addictions we have...oooo, scary! =) see below
this is harder than it sounded...hmmm, not sure I have 5, LOl. OK, here goes...
I'm Addicted to (in no particular order):
  • my computer - blog surfing, emailing, games
  • talking to my sister on the phone
  • stamping - of course... HeLLOoooo!!! =) & stamp related activites including hoardingstamp/scrap supplies
  • Pepsi - I know...that's baaaad. Wish I could say "water" but I usually drink a pepsi a day when I have any at home.
  • my friends? - is that legit? I don't know what I'd do without my friends and if I didn't have my computer or my phone to chat at least every other day, I'd go bananas!

and now we are to pass these along to 5 FABULOUS blogs, so here goes...

Oops, couldn't stick with just 5 and I know I could go ON & ON & ON, because you all have FABULOUS blogs in my opinion!!

Shiny Silvery Salmon...

now say that title 5 times fast! lol.

INSIDE: "If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. Happy Birthday!"

Here's the card I made for Tina's Grandfather (courtesy of Nikki's blog post HERE). He likes fishing etc. so my choices were between this fish, or my Thomas Kinkade® fishing stamp, which... when I thought about his age--he's turning 88--he might not be able to see the detail in that stamp (although it's one of my faves!). So, I went with this SU! set. Then I thought to make it SHINY and TEXTURED.

Here's what I did: I taped a piece of aluminum foil onto my black c.s. and ran it through the cuttlebug with the Tiny Bubbles folder. The fish are embossed in silver. It's hard to see, but I mounted the sentiment onto Not Quite Navy c.s. and the card base is also NQN. It's simple, but it stands out. What do ya think? I know my grandpa would've liked it if he were still here. Hope your grandpa is flooded with happy mail, Tina!! BIG HUGS!!
