Just wanted to share my cuties with you today. I'm really busy with stuff for work, so it's a short post. I had to grab the camera and take these shots in front of our house before we went to school. Ahhh, they're growing up waaay too fast!!

Part 2 of My Huge Project

Here are the cards I made for our lady Sunday School teachers. (The men's were in the last post here.) After creating this simple card last Monday for Cammie's Alzheimers challenge, I decided with a new pack of SU!'s Bella Rose paper I could create a bunch at one time with one basic design. Each card actually turned out slightly different with the layout, and of course the 2 very different ones in the front row served a purpose (so the SS director could tell the teachers' sayings from the general "Thanks for serving" sayings that are going to our pianist and records' keeper). SO...here they are:

(Inside of most)

So, as you can see, I've been very busy these last few days; hence, that's why I haven't been leaving many comments on your blogs. I will also be swamped until Wednesday this week, working on stuff at work (most of which I do at home on the computer), but I hope to get back to visit you all later in the week. Ciao for now!

My Huge Project - Part 1

Good Sunday morning girls! I have been working on a huge stamping project the last few days and I am ready to show you half of it.... The cards for the men.

Our church is having a "Teacher Appreciation" dinner this week and I vounteered to make the "thank you" cards for all 20 of them. (there's actually 18, but I am making 2 special ones for the Sunday School Directors since they will be seeing all of these cards, I wanted theirs to be different.) It was so much easier for me to pick one design and mass-produce them, so here's the 8 that will go to the male teachers:
I always have trouble coming up with masculine cards--so I always turn to my trusty resource... Julie, at Paper Pleasing Ideas!! She makes the most amazing masculine cards (as well as pretty ones). I found THIS CARD of hers and fell in love with it, so I tried to C.A.S.E. the technique, and tried to keep the rest simple--didn't want too many layers as I'm making so many of them.
I used SU! watercolor paper and misted it down with water. Then, I inked up my trees from SU!'s Lovely as a Tree set, in Artichoke and stamped onto the wet c.s. It took me quite a few times to get it right, and still had a hard time coming up with 8 good ones, Some were too wet and the green ink turned brown, and some I tried blotting the c.s. and it ended up too dry and the green didn't spread out enough. After the c.s. dried (I used Julie's idea and used my heat gun), I stamped the trees in brown Stazon over the green blobs (technical term). Then, I sponged Creamy Caramel and Chocolate Chip on the edges of the tree layer, Artichoke (stamped first with the Weathered bg stamp), and the Close to Cocoa layer. I had this twill tape-looking ribbon that I got at Michaels and I just pulled a string to unravel the ends a bit. The sentiments are generated on my computer. Sorry my lighting is so bad. Maybe I'll get a "Studio in a Box" for Christmas or birthday?
I have almost all of the women's cards done. Just need 2 more, and then I will post those as well. Unlike these, I made each one just a tad bit different. Hope you'll come again and see the rest!! Have a blessed day!!

Pastor Appreciation Month

is in October, and I made this card for our Pastor. Our church is having an Appreciation Dinner and I volunteered to make cards for all the teachers/leaders of the church. So, more to come!
What do you think? I am much better at girly cards, so I hope this isn't too "girly." I didn't do scallops or flowers, although the background (Bella Rose Designer Series, SU!) has a leafy pattern to it. TIP: I don't have any of the new In-Colors of ink pads, but did you know that if you stamp Old Olive off once and then stamp it, it resembles Kiwi Kiss? That's what I did here on the scrolly thingy. It's from SU!'s set, Noteworthy. The cross is from PTI's Everyday Blessings set, and the saying is one I found on a Christian e-card so I printed it with my computer.

And now a word about the PURPLE RIBBON, located just to the right over there in my sidebar. There are many different ribbons for all kinds of causes, and purple is the color for Alzheimers. My grandpa Lee died from complications due to this dreadful disease, but if you click my ribbon over there and create one for your own blog or website, Caring.com will donate $10 towards research. There are 3 different shades of purple to choose from as well as two different sayings and you can even choose to add "in honor of" on your button. Please go and click it--it's totally FREE to you!!

One Small Kind Gesture Can Make A World of Difference - and Blog Candy

WOW...I am talking about Cammie's HUGE ♥Heart to Heart♥ blog candy up for grabs this week. I'm so touched by her thoughtfulness and what an impact she has had on some amazing stamping companies and fellow stampers out there! (you have to read her post to see what I'm talking about!) She lost her grandmother to [complications with] Alzheimers disease and she knows what a difficult job their caretakers have, so she'd like us to make as many cards as we can to send to caretakers of Alzheimer patients. One small gesture can really make a world of difference in the life of a nurse, staff person etc who a lot of times don't get the appreciation they deserve.

This touches my heart on a personal level as well because my grandfather (mom's dad) died when I was very little and I didn't get the chance to get to know him or spend much time with him. I heard stories of my other grandparents going over to my mom's parents' house and he thought they were breaking in and my grandpa with Alzheimer's beat up my other grandpa. He was never in a "home", but he had a caretaker living with g-ma and g-pa and became part of the family. Even after grandpa passed, the caretaker lived with grandma until many years later when she passed. Anyway, let's all send cards to the caretakers...and if you don't know someone personally, Cammie gives an address of the home where her grandma lived her last few years. Please be sure to check out her post!!

Here are a just a few companies and individuals who have generously donated to this blog candy:

The Cat's Pajamas
Verve Stamps
Just Rite Stampers
Kittie Caracciolo
Joanne Basile

My daughters even got in on this one... you can see their cards here:

A Card and an R.A.K.

Here's a card I made yesterday:Thanks so much to my wonderful friend, Trina who sent me a gorgeous R.A.K. yesterday (shown below). I admire her coloring so much and she always uses such awesome layouts on her cards. I know I have a long ways to go, but (as Lorie would say) "I wanna be her when I grow up" =) So, I pretty much tried to CASE here coloring, even down to the colors which match perfectly with this "Flurries" designer paper I had! but I still like her coloring better. For the floor that she's standing on, I cut a piece of my "faux wood floor" that I made a bunch of the other day. After coloring her in, I went over some areas with my Stardust Gellyroll Pens for some sparkle! This layout is Sketch Challenge 96 on SCS.

And here's Trina's card [that she sent me]:She also sent me some stamped image--Thank You so much, Trina--you are soo sweet!!

A {LOL} Poem and an Award

Happy FRIDAY everyone!! Since I'm at work today and don't have a card to show you--yet--I want to share with you this really funny poem about FRIENDSHIP that my best friend emailed me today. It's called:

TRUE FRIEND
"Are you tired of those sissy 'friendship' poems that always sound good, but never actually come close to reality? Well, here is a series of promises that actuallyspeak of True Friendship. You won't see cutesy little smiley faces on this card--just the stone cold truth of our great frienship.

  1. When you are sad, I will jump on the person who made you sad like a spider monkey jacked up on Mountain Dew!!
  2. When you are blue, I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.
  3. When you smile, I will know you are plotting something that I must be involved in.
  4. When you're scared, we will high tail it out of here.
  5. When you are worried, I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be until you quit whining, ya big baby!!!
  6. When you are confused, I will use little words.
  7. When you are sick, stay away from me until you are well again. I don't want whatever you have.
  8. When you fall, I'll pick you up and dust you off--after I laugh my butt off!!
  9. This is my oath... I pledge it to the end. 'Why?' you may ask; --- because you are my FRIEND!"
I have to admit that this is NOT [exactly] how I view friendship (thank goodness)--maybe that's why I find it so funny. However, I do wonder, why do I laugh hysterically when I see people fall? I must not be the only one--after all, they made a show of it--WIPE OUT!

NOW ON TO MY AWARD:

Awww... ShyTHANKS!

I'd like to pass this Sylvester award on to all of you who leave comments here on my little crafty blog--they always MAKE MY DAY!!

Paper Pretties - Falling 4 U

I'm really enjoying this nice Fall weather. This week's color challenge at All That Scraps this week is Kraft, Riding Hood Red, and Baja Breeze. I used my Paper Pretties September SOTM stamp, Falling for You. The Kraft layer is cuttlebugged with the swirls folder--I figured that went pretty well as leaves usually swirl around =)
For the clouds on both layers, I took my stamp from Sugarplum Scenery set (ATS), stamped it on copy paper, cut it out, layed it on my c.s. starting at the bottom and sponged over the template working my way upward. Makes a great-looking sky I think. And, as you can see, I used my sewing machine for that "finished" look. I wish I had those wonderful Nestabilites, as I don't even own a descent pair of scallop scissors, but since I don't, I think the stitching adds that little extra punch to it. And, last but not least, my trusty photo corners--which I still think is one of my best purchases in years. =) Thanks for stopping by...have a super Thursday!!

ATS Color Challenge

All That Scraps Color Challenge: Kraft, Riding Hood Red, Baja Breeze

I don't have any of the new In Colors yet, so I substituted Cranberry Crisp, Close to Cocoa, and a blue from CTMH that looked pretty close to Baja. This is another 2,4,6,8 Acetate Box.
This cute squirrel (or chipmunk as on my box) is from Papertrey Ink's My Punny Valentine set. The tree and cloud [template] is from Sugarplum Olivia's Birdies set (ATS).
