Cherished Times

This is for today's sketch challenge {SC148}--finally getting it done at 10 p.m.! It's been a busy day and will be even busier tomorrow. It's my dd's birthday. If the weather cooperates, the girls are gonna ride horses and then come back here to the house and have pizza and cake.

Tonight went pretty well. The girls dressed up as a cheerleader and a princess (almost goth-style...YUK!) and we took them to 3 peoples' homes who we knew, and then they went to my parents and handed out candy to all the trick-or-treaters. My mom bought this scary sounds CD and so they had a lot of fun with that. Hope to show b-day pics soon. Thanks for stopping in!!

Slumber Party Bellas

My soon-to-be 9 yr. old is having a slumber party soon. We might as well call the whole thing a "BELLA" party as I'm sending these 3 jammybellas as invites, and the prizes are going to be packs of BELLAsara (horses) trading cards, OH, and not to mention my daughter's (who's birthday it is) middle name is "IsaBELLA" Lol.

You may have seen a VERY similar card like the one on the left because I saw this card of Kelly Sampson's (Diaries of a stamper) and thought THAT'S what I want to do for her invites. I created these with the jammybella that I got in an image swap. I still don't currently own any bella stamps, but I have a whole stack of images to work with--YEAH!! :) Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend!!

EDITED: I used Karen Foster 1/4" snap stamps for the lettering on these--LOVE THOSE...you can make whatever saying you don't already have stamps for. I also used the Divine Swirls Cuttlebug folder for the layers. TFL!

Daughter's Party Invite

Do any of you have young daughters at home between the ages of...say 5 and 12? Well then I'm sure you've heard of the new craze, BellaSarah??! We were just turned onto it a few short weeks ago. It's kinda like boys sports trading cards, but these are horse trading cards for girls. Each card even has a code on it so you can go online and take care of that horse online and play games with it etc.

SO... my 8 yr. old is turning 9 next week. I thought we'd do a BellaSarah party. My neighbor has 2 horses and she's soo sweet that she's giving my daughter and her friends free rides on the horses for her birthday! :) Yea!! Here's the outside of the invite...I just did this one today (and I'm not done with the inside yet).

I'm sure this is a sketch challenge, just don't know which one? My scanner makes these pinks look off, but it is Pretty in Pink and Certainly Celery. The horse stamp is from "Bareback" (SU!) and the Invite stamp is from Michael's.

Traditional Meets Country

I tried combining traditional Christmas colors with the brown for the horse. I'm not sure the colors are quite right, or that the horse goes with the swirly design, so I'll keep trying. I just got this horse set, since my girls are sooo into them right now. I'll have to show you a picture soon of them in their new cowgirl boots--cute, cute! :) Anyway, here's my card for today. I like the idea of using the horse(s) for my Christmas card this year, so I need honest feedback....please?! :)

Stamps: Bareback; Paisley bg; and Baroque Motifs (all SU!)
Colors: Bashful Blue; Rose Red; Garden Green; Chocolate Chip; Whisper White

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas...

...TREE!! :o)

This week's color challenge {cc136} was to GO PINK--in honor of breast cancer awareness month. SO...since I'm having too much fun creating these origami trees, I thought I'd make a pink and white card. What better color to pair up with pink and white but silver!! Ok...brown too, love those combos. NO stamping on this one. Just cuttelbugged a piece of white copy paper (tree) and vellum (bg) with the snowflake folder, punched the corners with the southwest corner punch and ran my silver cord across card, inserting it in the grooves and wha-La! Oh ya, guess you might want to know HOW I did the tree?? Check out Juliann's tutorial at Pixie Shire for simple directions with pictures! :)

Origami Christmas Tree

These 3-D trees are SOO easy to make and very fun too. I followed this tutorial over at Pixie Shire, many thanks to that link from Norma J!!

I used SU!'s holiday designer paper and cut mine 2.5" for the largest, and every 1/2" smaller for the next 3 squares. The blue background paper is also from the same holiday pack and I ran that piece through the Cuttlebug with the snowflakes folder. The penguin is from SU!'s "Polar Pals" set and the little ornaments are from a Tag punch set.

These are so fun. Go check out the tute and leave your post addy on Pixie Shire's blog!! :)

EDITED:
I added dazzling diamonds and a little santa hat --adds a lot to the card.
I was asked if the tree makes this card heavy? Well, it's no heavier than a regular 2-3 layer card, maybe I used designer paper which is lighter-weight than cardstock? I'm sure that it won't take xtra postage. (I use to be a mail clerk). Thanks for all the great comments, now GET TO FOLDING and leave me a link--I'd love to see them, and so would Juliann (the creator!!) :o)

Masked Trees

I have the hardest time creating cards for the men in my life, how 'bout you? So, I had this "simple" card in mind, where I used a plain white piece of c.s. and stamped the big pine tree in Handsome Hunter (with choc. chip trunk). Then I stamped off on a piece of copy paper and cut it out and taped it over tree with removeable tape. Then, I used my Creative Memories oval template (love those!) and cut out an oval from the middle of the typing paper and layed the paper "template" over my white card. I stamped the smaller trees in the oval and sponged on Sage Shadow ink to fill the oval. To add a little more oomph, I sponged on Garden Green under the trees. It doesn't look this bad IRL, lol. My scanner deepened the colors.

And then I decided to step it up, so I trimmed the edges and sponged them with Chocolate Chip ink, punched the corners, and added a Word Window punch-out with some hunter twine & eyelet. The Birthday sentiment is by Papertrey Ink's "Butterfly Kisses"; and the trees are Stampin' Up!'s "Lovely as a Tree".
So, which do you think? Can't really go backwards with it, so I guess I will have to use this one, but if you all like the simpler white card best, I could remake that one. :) Remember, go check out Papertrey Ink's new release tomorrow--the 15th!

A Total CASE

I have to admit, I've been out of the stamping groove for about 3-4 weeks *gasp*, I KNOW!! So, to help me get stamping, I found a card that I just had to try, and this is a complete CASE from Ashley's Creative Corner. :)

Colors I used are Purely Pomegranate; Pretty in Pink; and Chocolate Chip with the stamp set, "Butterfly Kisses" from Papertrey Ink. BTW...tomorrow is the 15th which means a new release!! I've seen some really neat cards by Nicole, so make sure you check out the new set Monday!!

October...Already??

Hey all!! Can't believe how quickly time is flying by. It's already a week into October (ya, I know...duh!). Every school year seems to get busier than the last. I hope to get some stamping done soon, and maybe in the next couple days I'll get my new scanner/printer/copier. Gotta clean off my desk for that, so as soon as it's clean, I'm sure I'll make time to stamp!

I decided to change up my blog for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Please take a couple seconds to click on the white and pink square over there to the right. Just a click will help to give a free mammogram to a woman in need. I've gotta run and pick up my girls from piano lessons now, and then they get to go ride the neighbor's horses. Busy, busy!! Check back soon! Just thought I'd jot a note to yáll.

EDITED:
Here's a few pics of the girls on "Grey", our neighbor's horse today.

THANKS, MARILYN!! Carly's ready to go on a trail ride with you next time ;) Maddy's still a little timid and wants to ride with dad. Maybe Carly will be a future rodeo princess! Lol.
