My First TAG Card

This was today's Dirty Dare Challenge (to make a tag card) and you could only use 1 stamp set--even for the sentiment. I also combined this with another challenge which was to use only clear stamps - easy peasy!! :)

The card size is 9x5.5" and scored at 3" and 6". I didn't have instructions as to cutting the angles at the top, so I meausred 1 1/2" down and 1" in from either side, folded my card up so they'd all be the same, and cut across with large scissors.

If I were to do this again, I would not have my angles so large. Too much room to try and fill--so I went with ribbon. Confused

As you can see, I made the daisy and ladybug with SU!'s oval punches, and I drew the dots for bug's trail and antenaes, and the rest was done with my stamps.

A Second Post Today....

This was not a challenge...but for some reason, late last night, I was in the mood for a silvery-wintery card! Go figure--right in the middle of summer! So I created this cute little number (4.25" square) with my Snowflakes and Polar Pals sets. I also dug up my metalic silver ink pad that I had purchased for my very first SU! order over 4 yrs. ago....and it's still juicy!! Whoa!!~ :) I actually bought it and made a bunch (like 40) Christmas cards with it, so I'm really amazed, after not re-inking the pad that it's still good!
Paper pieced her coat and added dazzling diamonds to the "fur". Oh ya, and I used my silver cardstock that I won from Heather Stevens--THANKS AGAIN HEATHER!! :)

Neutral is Beautiful

I'm getting in on some of the Dirty Dozen's "Dare to Get Dirty" week-long challenges in celebration of their anniversary!! WooHoo! I'll admit, I've been seeing it, I've been hearing about it, but today was my first day digging in and getting "dirty" with a challenge, Lol.

This one is Jacksonbelle's "Use brown and black" challenge. I discovered a couple months ago how FUN the kraft paper can be!! But I never paired it with black, and I really like it! :) I've also seen the fabo cards in this gallery all with the same color scheme, so my mind's full of possibilities....however--there's so many more challenges to try, so I prolly should move on. Don't worry--I'll revisit this one later!! :)

Featured Stamper: Lauraly

This was for the "Featured Stamper" Challenge over at SCS. We were to pick a card from Lauraly's fabulous gallery and I picked this one. Then, we had to recreate it, changing at least 2 things, and then upload it.

I changed the size of the card from 5 1/4" square to a regular card size (4 1/4"x 5 1/2"), the designer paper, and the stamp sets. Everything else was pretty much the same.

The white centers of all the little butterfly flowers have dazzling diamonds in them. They look brown in this pic, but they are actually quite sparkly IRL. :) Thanks for looking!

How I Watercolor...

I've been asked recently how I watercolor my images as my bunnies in recent posts, so I thought I'd tell here how I do mine. First of all, someone mentioned "cakes" or "pencils"...well, I do know what color pencils are, but have never heard of cakes--guess I'm out-of-the-loop on that one! :) I don't use either. I like to start with watercolor paper--helps a bunch!! I use my classic ink pads, by pressing down in the middle with the lid on and then when it's open, I just take my Aqua Painter and pick up the excess ink from the lid and start watercoloring. To get a deep image, I let the first layer dry and then recolor with a darker shade starting at the outside edges and working in so there's spots inside that are "highlighted" or just a little lighter. I added pink cheeks and a little pink elsewhere on them at the end. That's it! Hope that helps. I like to keep it simple!

If watercoloring on Georgia Pacific White c.s., you don't want to do so many layers--it'll bubble and eventually rip from the wetness. It also "bleeds" into other spots or outside your lines on this type of paper as well. That's why I prefer watercolor paper. ;)

Boy Bunny

Just HAD to make a boy one too ;) (see my previous post for the girl bunny)

I somehow missed Beate's sketch challenge, so I'm a little behind with this, but I'm glad I tried it, cause I really love how this one turned out! I used my old "Spring Showers" designer pack that was in SU!'s mini catty, and it wasn't even open yet--just been sitting on my sewing table for months! I do know of someone having a baby next month and don't know if it's a boy or girl, so I made one of each :)

I cut my peices and taped them down to the Really Rust layer, then ran that thru my sewing machine with white zigzag stitching. Then I punched holes couple inches from the edges (in the middle of card) and ran white polka-dot ribbon thru each and tied knots and then taped the whole thing down to my Bashful Blue card.

The bunny is stamped with Stazon onto watercolor paper. Oval underneath bunny is by Amuse.

Welcome Bunny

Here's a Heart-shaped "Tent Topper" card for today's challenge. I JUST got this adorable set called "A New Little Someone" with this bunny in it--got it on an online auction--and Loving it! :) This is my first card made with it.

Today's sketch challenge to was make these tent toppers (originally designed by Michelle Wooderson) and you can make it any shape or size you want.

I found THIS card of Ila's (Trina's Mom) and fell in love with it, so I kinda CASED it. (although I wish I had stamped off for my oval--it's a little dark). Be sure to check out her blog for some really FANTASTIC stuff!! :) (just click on the link above)

The bottom saying is called the "doughnut" design...I punched a hole with a large circle punch out of the 2 front layers and then the stamped part is attached to the inside back of card. :) TFL.

You Will FREAK!!!

I just came across this FABULOUS scrapper--You've GOT to see her scrap pages...you will absolutely freak, well--I DID anyway!! :) Scrapperlicious

Flowahbella

Picture is kinda weird...the yellows and reds match so much better IRL!

I sewed the yellow and green layers to the whites and the red cuttlebugged layer to the Saffron card base.

I also used my ribbon slider cutting die for my cuttlebug with the "Riveting" set from SU! (thanks so much) and of course the "Flowahbella" was in my image swap from Trina--Thanks again Trina!
Oh ya, I added a little celery oval under her feet and that was by Amuse. TFL!

[went to Gena]

More Zebras

Made a couple more zebra cards to enter in this summer's county fair.
For more info, please see my other zebra post, includes company link where I got these stamps.

Delight in Life - TY

Another TY card that I made tonight for a VBS helper--didn't have time to post it earlier. Delight in Life is one of my favorite sets. I cuttlebugged some designer paper and I love that all the colors in the paper I was able to find a SU! color to match! :) Yes, I did stitch the pink layer on, and the dots on the white scallops are done with a tempting turquoise marker. :) TFL!

Bright and Cheery

Made a couple of these for the ladies who directed VBS this week. We're having a parent's night tonight so the kids can sing their songs that they learned and they get a chance to win a HUMONGOUS football (blown up one).
Wasn't really sure what to do with the corners, so I left them blank? This was such a quick and easy card to make, but cutesy. :) TFL!!

Prayers Needed

As most of you know, my family is going through a difficult time right now. I thank you for your thoughts and prayers and emails of encouragement. I'm not very open about my personal life on the web, but my sisters in Christ can pray without knowing every detail. I got some more bad news today. My music director's son, Joe was killed this morning as he was driving and fell asleep at the wheel very early in the a.m. They say he was killed instantly. He was here helping with VBS last week--was a crew leader. He just graduated and was going off to college. I'm very grateful for your conintued prayers.

I just want to add that he was a Christian and I believe the angels are rejoicing and Jesus is welcoming him "home"--to his eternal home. That is a very happy occassion for those who know Jesus as their personal Savior. We do feel sad for the people he left behind because it is a huge shock to suddenly not have someone you love here anymore, especially someone young as he was. Jesus knew it was his time to go and though we will miss him, God allowed him to spend this week with his family as his parents just celebrated their 20th anniversary. I knew a lady who said that when she goes, she doesn't want a "funeral" with people crying, she wants a PARTY because she'll be with the Lord and that's she couldn't think of a better reason to have a party. So, that's what they did--balloons, cake and all!! :) We will try to be there for the family, and I believe it would be extremely difficult to lose a child, but there is HOPE in the Lord and all who know Him will have hope.

Needed a Little "TLC"

Today was a very stressful day for me. So, after we got the kids to bed, I set out to do today's TLC (Technique Lovers Challenge) on SCS. The technique is called "Tapestry" and you can view Beate's Tutorial HERE.

This just wasn't coming together well. I threw away part of my first one, but I wanted to end my day feeling like I did something right, so I stuck with it and this is what I ended up with. I didn't have clear embossing powder (like I was suppose to use) so I used Irridescent Ice ep. It's very sparkly IRL and doesn't look this dark either. You can actually see the white craft ink much better irl. Used Nature's Secret and Wonderful Wings (SU!)

EDITED: If you read this earlier, you would know that I've been going through a hard time lately...but after a day I just felt really weird about posting it, so I removed the previous paragraph. But I just wanted to make sure and say THANKS for your comments and emails, prayers and support. I know things will be better soon. {{Hugs}}

A Kelly CASE

I saw this card of Kelly Sampson's that she did as a "Featured Stamper" case (kinda) and loved all the elements. So I set out to recreate it using different colors and stamps. Well...I DID have chipboard letters to match but they were too large and overwhelmed the card, so I left them off. I admit, I like her card waaaay better, but I don't think it's bad. I added Dazzling Diamonds to all the white "stripes" on the cake and also the "doily" underneath it. Love how sparkly it is IRL--the cake anyway!

I used CTMH peach paper with SU!'s Cool Caribbean. Happy Birthday Cuttlebugf folder sponged with white craft ink on top, and the round scallop cuttlebug cutting dies for the flower sentiment. :) TFL!!

Beat the Heat!!

It's 101 degrees here today. As soon as we got home from Vacation Bible School, we ate lunch and went out in the backyard for some summer fun. The girls love to run the hose down the slide , but at the end they bump and fall on their knees and tummies. They laugh and say it doesn't hurt, but ?? sounds like it does. At least they're staying cool and having fun! :)

Sprinkler
While we were at my sister's last weekend, we weighed the girls. Maddy, who's 7 yrs. old, weighed 57 lbs. and Carly who's 8 1/2 yrs. old weighed 56 lbs.!!! Can you believe it? Oh ya...when we went swimsuit and sandal shopping, we found they both wear the same exact size in swimsuits and in shoes!! Whoa!! Maddy's a little shorter, but she's gonna pass her sister up in NO TIME! Lol!! I'm so glad I had them so close in age though (19 mo.s apart) because they are best friends--they play so well together (most of the time) and make each other (and us) laugh so often.

And Another One!!

I'm soo on a roll tonight with this gorgeous paper and stamp from Gena!! :) I've seen the Doodle This flower made like this b4, with the bottom one's petals curled up and the top one's curled down but can't remember where I've seen it...I just knew I wanted to try it as soon as I got my set though. And Gena, I LOVE this cute "friend" stamp!! You're "da bomb!" ...OK, I don't actually say that in REAL LIFE, Ha!!

Colors are Ruby Red, Artichoke, and Vanilla. DP by Daisy D's.

My First Two Christmas Cards for 2007

This gorgeous paper was in my surprise RAK box from Gena today, so I sat right down and made a couple very simple "vintagey" Christmas cards. Don't know why I immediately thought of Christmas, but these would make very lovely birthday or thinking of you or whatever cards as well. Good thing I have more of this gorgeous paper! This style is nothing like I've ever worked with before, but I love it so much that I didn't want to cover any of it up with other layers, so I kept it simple. Used my sewing machine around edges and 3 corners have antique brads, as well as on the taupe ribbon.

And here's my second one. Along with this gorgeous paper, she sent a package of coordinating diecut flowers--awesome girlie!! :) THANKS AGAIN GENA!! I'm definately saving one of these cards for my mom's Christmas card. She will love this!

I also used my scalloped circle cuttlebug dies and a tan prima in the center. My colors are Ruby Red, Artichoke, and Creamy Caramel. Oval punches and ribbon are also SU!

Thanks for lookin'!! :)

A Blessed RAK

WOW!! When I came home from work, look at the package that was waiting for me!! :)
Angel Glitter

Please take a minute and visit Gena over at My Stampin Garden . She is such a sweet gal and I've really enjoyed "chatting" with her and getting to know her better through our stamping blogs and emails. She's a reminder that God sends us all blessings that make life more joyful and I'm so glad He has blessed me with online friends like you all!! Those that take the time to comment and make someone's day and those that go the extra mile and send emails--they really lift my spirits. THANKS SOOO MUCH GENA!! Blessings to you all!!

July Cakeabella Card

I just got my Bella images from a swap I did with Trina, and this is my first card with one!! :) I admit, I kinda overdid it just a little...kept adding things like more ribbons, brads, etc. But I like it and I think mom will too.

THANKS SO MUCH, TRINA!! She seriously flooded my mailbox with bella images and in return I sent her some Whipper Snapper ones. Go check out her blog at "Trina's Timeless Treasures".

This is called a "tent topper card", I believe originally created by Michelle Wooderson. The bottom part is 4.25" square and the top is added to make the whole heighth 5.5" to fit into a regular envie.

STAMPS: Cakeabella (Stampabella); Snap Stamps by Karen Foster; small oval (Amuse)
COLORS: Real Red; Brilliant Blue; White; Black
ACCESSORIES: Happy Birthday Cuttlebug folder; polka-dot paper (?); markers; primas; rhinestone brads; glitter brads (Oriental Trading); polka-dot ribbon

Happy Birthday Ashley!

This card is for my niece, Ashley who just turned 13. Yup...I'm a little late with it, but that's okay, I'm going to pick her up tomorrow and keep her for the rest of July, so we're planning to throw her a surprise birthday party at the pizza place when we get back on Saturday.
Surprise
I used my SU! Pallete O' Prints for the green layer, and Apricot Appeal, run thru the CB with birthday folder and then sponged Close to Cocoa ink over raised parts and edges. The scallop is done in Chocolate Chip c.s. and I just used my fiskars cloud scissors to trim edge. If you look really closely you can see that I added Crystal Effects to the dark brown and the pink bumps on the turtle's shell. I almost used today's sketch challenge for this one, but I just really like the effect of this one better. You can see a whole gallery using this sketch HERE.

So Sorry Your House Flooded...

Aren't You Glad it Wasn't the BIG One???

This is a fun shadowbox card I made for Susan Liles after her house flooded. It's an old retired SU! set called Noah's Ark (?) and I purchased it from her! :) THANKS SUS!!

I wanted to wait until you got it to post this, and I see you've been swamped with RAK's... YEA!!! :) I'm soo glad you've gotten some really HAPPY MAIL. I hope it lifted your spirits :)

My girls played with the set the other day... one made a coaster box with this set and the other made a spinner card!! Pics to come :)
Happy HatIn celebration of the 4th, our church is doing a float with the hot air balloon theme to advertise our Vacation Bible School. Maddy learned a cute song and dance that the younger kids will do on the float and the older kids will walk alongside and hand out postcards-invites for VBS. Then in the evening, we invited some friends from church over for a BBQ dinner. They have 3 kids, one is 8 yrs. (Carly's age) and the twins are 13 yrs. One of them has been babysitting for me this summer. Then we plan to go to mom and dad's to watch fireworks on their lawn with popcorn and curl up with blankets--annual tradition. :) Hope you all enjoy the day off tomorrow!!

Something New

Have you seen the new blogger feature, "Add a Poll"?? It's over in my column to the right. Just a fun thing. Go ahead and vote if you'd like. :) Hoping to get some stamping done tonight. It's house-cleaning time :( Op...scratch THAT idea...hubby's workin' late tonight so no stamping for me. I've got a sitter coming in morning to watch girls so I can go to work so gotta finish cleaning and dinner and pay the bills...blah,blah,blah!!

Paisley Puppy

Here's another card I made last summer that is Whipper Snapper. Just wanted to have it on my blog so I can file it with the rest of my WSD cards. :)

NOTE TO SELF: When watercoloring on plain white c.s., wait for one color to dry b4 adding another! They "bleed".

STAMPS: Patient Puppy (Whipper Snapper Designs); Paisley ? (SU! retired)
PAPER: Positively Pink & Chocolate Chip (SU!)

Staple JELLO to a Tree?

Here's a card I made last summer (way b4 starting my blog) and I wanted to have record of it in my Whipper Snapper file here on my blog. I love this saying...I really should have a huge plaque of it made to put inside our front door for all to see. That might explain why my house is not as orderly as I like most days, Ha!!
