I have a tradition on each of their birthdays to go to the flower store and pick the prettiest rose and have it wrapped up with baby's breath and get a cute balloon tied to it, and then I take it to the school office and have it delivered to her classroom. I put on the note that it's from her "secret admirer". It's fun and adds a little mystery to their day. Also, my husband always makes a point to go have lunch with them on their special day at school. Tonight she wanted to go bowling for her birthday, so we're doing that with my parents and they have the Best pizza there!!

HOLY TAMOLIE!! I just looked at my gallery on SCS and this card already has 50 comments in less than 1 day!! WOW! :) Thanks girls to those who left me a comment...glad you likie :)
OKAY: This was for the sketch challenge today...OOPS, I mean tomorrow!! I found the post early tonight and I'm up, so I figured I'd do just one more. Here's the link to the sketch challenge. It's a fun one...they say it's a good one to use up those scraps just lying around, but who wants scraps when you just bought a HUGE BOOK of coordinating cardstock from Wal-Mart?! Not I!! :)
I had to dig up my old retired Mauve Mist ink pad, because that color was the closest to the papers I wanted to use. In fact, it matches pretty closely. I'm noticing that the later the evening goes on, the more I like to ramble! In fact, if it were about 3 a.m. right now, I'd bet you would catch me writing a 5 page post about nothing at all!! I've been known to get up when I can't sleep and think I've got the cleverest thoughts on something stupid and I write this long note to myself, just to find in the mornign when I re-read it that it was the dumbest thing I've ever heard, and I chuck it in the garbage!! Do YOU guys ever do that??
Anyway, back to my card. I used Dazzling Diamonds for the flower centers. I used fiskars "cloud" scissors for the large scallops--they are so great for those! Everything else is pretty much self - explainatory. Gotta go now. Won't be posting tomorrow. I've got another funeral :(
Maddy loves to pose, and Carly's trying hard not to let you see her missing teeth!!
The main body of the card is 4.25" square and the topper makes it 5.5" total in heighth. I finally got around to using my MUCH WANTED set, Delight in Life that I won on Starr Mercer's blog. You can't see it well, but there's dazzling diamonds in the centers of all the flowers.
I got really lucky with this one. I had cut my c.s. first b4 deciding what to do with it, then I used the swirly stamp all around and it fit perfectly in that square!! Whew...don'tcha just love it when a card comes together??!!

This is just a simple card for her shower. I plan to do a different one for her wedding...I have a bride/groom stamp that is perfect for those occassions. The bottom pink ribbon is from the SU! mini catty called "FLIRTY" (love that!) and then I paired it with some light pink polka-dot ribbon that I bought from Janet's ribbon share.
The flowers and saying are from Su!'s Happy Harmony set, and I cuttlebugged the turquoise with the Textile folder. The stamped circle is taped directly to turquoise, but the turq. and silver layers are on pop dots...that brings them out closer to the depth of the ribbon. :) This card took less than 30 min. to make. Easy peasy, but elegant too.
Hope you're all having a fun Memorial Day today!! We're going to mom and dad's later for a BBQ. And this afternoon we are working on our new deck out back (for the bunny hutches. My oh My are those bunnies getting terribly spoiled!! It'll have a roof over it and all!!)

The problem I had with this card is that everything on mine looks scrunched together--not enough room for everything. Hers was square and I assumed it was 4.25", but I think it must have been 5.25"--one inch on a card does a lot!! I only had regular card-sized envies, so I couldn't make mine that large. So, this wouldn't win in the "execution" dept., (not that I'm entering it anywhere--it was a figure of speech) but I think it makes a pretty cute girlie card for someone special :)

I thought we'd try Cambria's corner tute, which this doesn't look anything like it because it's a much larger scale, but none-the-less :) She saw the card I made earlier today with the sewn edges and she begged me to sew her letters on. Okay...can I just say Oh--My--Gosh!! That was soooo tricky as some of her letters were so small!! Not to mention that I still can't sew a straight line and about 2 wks ago was my 1st time ever in like 10 yrs. that I've used a machine!! :) Anyway, I'm pretty sure Katy won't see this blog, so I thought I'd upload and show you this. Heart was punched out using CM's smallest heart punch. Letters were just hand-cut out by my dd. :) Thanks for lookin'!!
The challenge today was to use YoYo Yellow...whew was that a challenge. I don't think I've used this color in the last 2 years. But, I had this cute ribbon, so this was a perfect time to get it out. I also used Petal Prints for the flower in the center, and Bloom Dots Cuttlebug folder, and topped it off with a flower brad. I think it definately screams SUMMER...which I'm soo ready for!

Cardstock is Pixie Pink and Black. The circle saying in corner is an SU! hostess set called "Riveting" and the zebra came from Cape Arago Rubber Stamps. The flowers are from the "Fresh Fillers" set by SU! I doodled around zebra using the Signo white gel pen. I've tried other white pens and they don't do nearly as well as this Signo brand. I love how fluid it is and it's perfect...after my first one, I ended up buying 3 at once--YES, it's that good! Lol!! :)
The straight line doesn't really go very well with the wavy line. I used my new acrylic stamps for this one and paired it with the Basic Grey "Blush" dp cause I think the flowers matches perfectly. The vevelt ribbon matches a lot better IRL. I put pop dots behind each of the circles and again on the teal flower. Chalk this one up to "not executed well" I guess? Oh well...

Thanks Heather S. for this cute butterfly cuttlebugged card!! I love that set from PaperTrey Ink, and I really love the "thanks" diecut at the bottom. These are so fun! Please visit Heather over at "A Secret Garden Grows Here"
I entered Tracy's container contest and won 3rd place with my altered lunch tin. Check out her blog "Tracy's Happy Place"
I also received blog candy from Starr Mercer--check out her blog "...the rest is still unwritten"
Thanks so much Abra Leah for this cute RAK made with the new patterned paper from SU! It's very cute and that little tag with the pull tab comes up out of the pocket with a saying. I really appreciate the kinds words and sharing some things with me that we share in common... our preemies!! :) It's great to get to know other stampers like yourself and find other areas of connection. Check out her blog "Abra Leah Stamps"
THANK YOU, THANK YOU ladies!!

You can't see it in this picture, but the black cardstock is cuttlebugged with the Bloom Dots embossing folder and opposite corners have the paper piercing. Looks cute up close. The "steam" is the smaller stamp out of the "Like it a Latte" set. Here's a picture of my finished apron: (the black material has little cherries/stems all over it)

I found this Mother's Day poem by Nicholas Gordon, and I just LOVE the combination of fonts used in the stamp set called "Edgy Eloquence", so I typed up his poem... horray for me that it ended up being 6 parts--one for each of the panels... and I used fonts very close to the EE stamp set!! I also used flowers from several different sets: Terrific Tulips, Roses in Winter; Heartfelt Thanks, and Petal Prints. Here are the pictures:
POEM: "Happy Mother's Day is more than have a happy day. Within those words lie lots of things we never get to say. It means I love you first of all, then thanks for all you do. It means you mean a lot to me, and that I honor you. But most of all, I guess it means that I am thinking of your happiness on this, your day, with pleasure and with love." -Nicholas Gordon
P.S. Please forgive me for not sending out the things I said I would last week. I was sick for 5 days straight this week and didn't get to the post office. I'm better now, so am planning on getting those out on Monday (ie. blog candy & swaps). Thanks for being patient. Have a very happy weekend!!
CARDSTOCK: Real Red; Always Artichoke; Whisper White
ACCESSORIES: gold brads; pop dots; red & saffron markers; red/white gingham ribbon; tag punch; 1/16" hole punch
I just recieved this Terrific Tulips stamp set (that I always wanted and never bought) so I thought what a perfect set to make a Birthday card for my MIL. I knew there were tons of cards in the SCS gallery and to be honest, there are 9 stamps in this set and I wasn't really too sure which ones went together, so I searched the gallery for samples. When I came across this one by One Happy Stamper, it jumped out at me and I was taken aback. I LOVE this card! I used mono adhesive for the large saffron/red tulips in the back and all the others are on pop dots for that 3-d effect. The pot was stamped lightly with Antique Cracking stamp and then I "Direct-to-Paper"ed all around the edges, which just means that I swiped the edge of the c.s. across the ink pad. I didn't add saffron ink to my ribbon like she did just because I was cramming 4 holidays into one, but I do like what she did there. :) HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY EVERYONE!!
